Christmas Card Club - Embossing

Good afternoon and today is our Christmas Card Club Sunday; today's theme was chosen by Margaret of Granmargaret's cards-n-stuff. Margaret asked for embossing -- could be dry or otherwise. I have lots of embossing folders and plenty of embossing powders, so decided to incorporate both techniques into today's card. Let's get started:

- PBlack image was stamped with Versamark on a white snippet, heat embossed with Ranger Queen's Gold. Die cut with a stitched MFT circle, and placed some thin white fun foam under this for dimension. Much easier to cut a small circle than trying to stick little bits of foam tape all around (thank you Jennifer McGuire for this idea!).

- another white piece that had been cut to do embossing folder samples before storing away** was handy, so embossed a card front using a Couture Creations embossing folder. Since the sentiment is embossed all over the card front, debated on adding another sentiment. The left over from the circle die cut was right there, so decided to use a tiny piece to stamp the sentiment from HLS Mixed Christmas Sentiments embossed with Queen's Gold to match the wreath.

The card base is cream, top fold, and another snippet of sorts, as it was in a pile that has not had time to be stored...yeah, that could be called a snippet I guess - LOL. On the EF **sample explanation:  before new folders are stored, a white piece of GP cardstock is embossed, details of manufacturer's info written on the piece prior to embossing, and kept in the folder. Then the packaging can be discarded. This helps to see what the embossing does, and aids in deciding if 2 thicknesses of c/s should be used, if it's not heavy weight card stock. Sometimes a deeply etched EF will sort of tear when embossing the thinner weight cardstock. Sometimes a heavy weight c/s will need a shim to get a good even embossing.

Please check out what my fellow club members have shared for Margaret's Embossing Theme. Their links are listed over in the right side bar.

We've another lovely day, and since I worked quite diligently with some much needed housework the last 2 days, Sunday is going to be an easier day of it around here. So you can picture me out on the front porch swing in just a bit. DH has gotten out some of our fall 'stuff' so perhaps I might even bestir myself to put the decorations around. Ya'll have a grand day, and thanks for coming over. Hugs

Once again I am absent from CCC. Might have a post later but not sure.

I need to just sit for an evening and make three or four cards ahead for club.
Struggling with my hands and feet still so that is why I have been absent. Only posting cards I have made up earlier and not posted yet.

  14. Very pretty Mary. Love that stamp (I have it too!). :) Great with the dry embossing and heat embossing combined on this beautiful card.

Sounds like a nice quiet day after two days of working. Hope you find lots of time to sit and relax on the porch. Today has turned out to be very busy for me, but I'm taking a bit of a break off my feet and checking out what's new at my friends blog ... always fun to come by for a visit. Wish I could be sitting with you on the porch, but this will have to do for now. :) xx
