Hi, and it's been so many  months since I did a post. Bad, bad me! We've had a lovely fall, with occasional days of rain, which we needed. For the most part, however, we've had sunny days that were fairly warm for the time of the year. Our foliage was absolutely gorgeous this year. Most of those glorious leaves are now on the ground (I mulch them up with the mower) either blown down by the wind, or else the rain pulled them down.

I am doing fairly well most days, definitely better than I did for some time. That's not to say, I don't still have times when my emotions get the best of me. I realize I am still so blessed in my life, and that so many other of my blog buddies are going through their own rough times. I got my 2 covid shots, my flu shot and then finally the booster. I'm thankful I've not succumbed to any 'bad' stuff so far this year.

Thanksgiving was a day I dreaded, but I got through it. Had some invitations, but decided since DD & her DH couldn't be here with me, I really thought I'd be best on my own. Ordered a Thanksgiving dinner from one of our local restaurants (Cracker Barrel for those who know this chain). Picked it up, then drove down to spend a few minutes with Sweetie. I know he's not really there, but it was time to change out the small vase of flowers we can place there in remembrance. I don't stay long. It's a peaceful chapel, and I try to go by every few months. Came home, got my plate and sat to watch an old British series, called Taggert. One I'd never seen until I subscribed to Britbox. Boy, am I loving that subscription.

I hope all my American buddies had a happy and healthy Thanksgiving, and that you had the same lovely weather for the day as we did. It was coolish, but not cold. For those not celebrating the day as such, hope you had a nice Thursday!

Here at this house, I'm trying to get a few Christmas decorations down from the storage area, and have a few Christmas cards made. I seem to stay very busy most days. At present my #2 brother who is 91, is staying with me. He lives down the street and is having some new flooring put down to replace his musty smelling carpet, and also some other remodeling house stuff. He had bronchitis a few months back, and just can't seem to shake the effects of it. He was coughing, wheezing, having breathing difficulties. Saw several specialists but nothing concrete found. I suggested he come stay here where there is no carpet, and I don't have curtains or drapes. (not to say I don't have dust though! ) He's been a lot better here, but it's been an adjustment having somebody in the house with me. We have different lifestyles. However, he was there for us when we needed help, and so far we're muddling along. The fella doing the work has been having health problems. Don't know what it is like where you live, but it's very difficult to get someone reliable to do projects, show up when promised, and do a job that you feel is what you paid for! This guy is good about all that, except he's not always reliable to show when promised. He's worked for the families before, tho, so we know he'll do a good job, and will give value for the dollar. Anyway, that's it for me. Ya'll have a good weekend, and prayers for all my blog buddies who are in need of them. I know those prayers kept me going for a long time, and uplifted me when I sorely needed it. Big Hugs. Thanks for visiting.

  2. Lovely to 'see' you hear again Mary.
Yes, grief has no timeline, so just take life as it comes and be kind to yourself. I used to call it surfing - some days the waves would 'dump' me, other days I would reach land and stagger ashore...
Living with someone else is certainly a change... I am shortly going to live with my DD and family, but with my own area, only joining them for the main meal each day.
    Stay safe
    Blessings

  4. So happy to see you pop into my feed this morning Mama Mary! I am also happy that you are doing fairly wall, you are new in this journey and it takes quiet a while for the emotions to get the best of you. I know they still get the best of me at times as well and it's been 6 years for me and 7 Christmas'. Don't think it will ever not hurt! So don't you go be worrying about your emotions, let them out as it is good to do so. Fall was warm here too, sure helped save on that oil bill that is going to be so dang high this year. Didn't turn heat on until Nov. 1st. That is unheard of around here as it is usually on in Oct. to take the chill off. Most of the leaves here were just ok, our nights were to warm, but there were some trees whos leaves were gorgeous. I'm glad you did what was best for you for Thanksgiving. Sometimes we just need to be alone with our grief. Hope your brother can get back into his own home soon, but glad you two had this time together, even though I know it is probably not always fun to have someone in your space that you aren't used to having be there! Yes, same here, can't get help to even show up or contact you back. And if you can, they can't get what they need to do the job. Crazy times we are living in for sure! Anyway, so happy to see this post, hope one day you can enjoy card making once again. Sending love, hugs and prayers your way! Brenda

I hope while you are doing that you are thinking of getting out your card making supplies too. I miss seeing your cards and hope you'll come back to creating. I'm glad you were able to have a Thanksgiving meal and I hope things continue to get easier. Big hugs to you.

  6. Hello Mary, and how lovely to see this post. It's been a difficult time for you, but you are hanging in there and that's good. Pleased to hear that you have had your covid and flu jabs and that you are steering clear of this awful virus. Of course now we have the Omnicrome variant, which is a bit of a worry, so the need to till keep ourselves safe is till there.
I hope you and your Brother have a lovely peaceful Christmas, and just go with the sad thoughts when they happen, I'm sure they will be there for a while to come. Hope to see more of you as time goes on, love and hugs Kate x

  8. Happy Belated Thanksgiving, Mary, and a Merry Christmas coming soon. What a great idea to have your brother stay with you to determine what might be triggering his health problems. Twenty years ago we pulled out brand new carpet in our home and installed hardwood floors. BOY OH BOY! It was like day and night regarding our allergies and sniffles. And carpet often has a "never very clean" smell, so if he has a sensitive "sniffer" that will help, too! Some of our rooms have light weight curtains, but others have none at all. In fact, we just installed all new entry doors, and two of them have the blinds in the glass, making it easy to clean, and eliminate more dust. I've only done minimal crafting lately, but have seen some new specialists regarding the problems preventing me from using my hands. While there is nothing that can be done, I'm doing more things that other people take for granted, and feel so happy at being out of the wheelchair, and able to do the laundry or dishes, or even a little housework. My next goal is gardening again, and then my crafting. I have made 3 cards from my "to be finished" box in the past 2 months, so am learning to be patient with myself, and grateful for books, audio books, and TV to rest more. Jack is having his 2nd knee replacement in the end of the month, but has been keeping up with his greenhouse and minor chores here and there. There is a beauty in being grateful for every day, even if it unfolds in ways we had never "wanted" or expected. Thank you for keeping us up to date. I always think of the view from your front porch and marvel at the beauty! Wishing you much love and joy, Mary. love, de

  9. It is lovely to hear from you Mary and glad that you have had all your Covid and Flu jabs and are up to date. Glad that you are feeling fairly good and that the low times are less than they were, and I'm sure your brother is thankful for your support, but I can understand that it isn't easy. I think you said you had made some Christmas cards and it would be great to see you post one to show us...no pressure, we would be pleased to see you put a post up no matter how short and it certainly doesn't mean you have to do it regularly, it would just be a small step to returning, but only as often as is right for you. We all miss seeing you here! x
