Leslie G of Leslie's Craft Room and Zella - for whom I can't find a link so perhaps Zella doesn't have a blog. Zella if you do, please provide me with a link so I can give a shout out with your blog address. Thank you both for joining here as followers. It's always so exciting to see new faces in the following list. Watch out for a surprise the day I see that 250th face/name show up!
Again, I'm using some of DeeDee's Digis 4th of July Designs - this one is from the Hat's Off digi collection.
- Precolored Digi was hand cut, did a minimum amount of shading with copics. Separated the Uncle Sam top hat from the drawn digi and reattached with a narrow white ribbon.
- Embossed & stenciled background was a snippet from another project - the front didn't turn out as I wished. Decided I could use a MBox stencil and some blue spray and still use the piece as a background. Die cut an oval, placed a snippet of the stripe digi papers from the Stitchy Stars set behind this cut out oval. Used the Lil Inkers ovals to cut a frame, adhered the frame over the striped paper. Mr. Eagle has some dimensional foam tape adhering him in place and the sentiment from Hat's Off was cut with deckle scissors so it would fit in the space.
- punched 2 stars from silver glitter paper and covered with Smooch paints (the kind that looks like tiny fingernail polish bottles. A NBUS for me. Have had the stuff, seldom think to use it.). Used some sponges that had red & blue residual Distress ink that were in the drawer. (?another snippet?)
One more down for the 4th of July cards I need to get mailed. Hope you like it, and will check out DeeDee-s.

A wonderful card for the 4th, Mary. I love every thing you did to make this creation. I left a comment on your Cards by Friends. I don't think it took. I seem to be having Blogger trouble today.

WOWSAH! I love the background on this, and especially how you did the sentiment panel - which looks like it just exploded from a firework display! Well done, and I hope your special day was indeed a special one - spent with your daughter!

I will become a follower later. I am on my phone now and for some reason become a follower doesn't work on my phone! It could be the user!
What a fun 4th July card this is Mary. I love the blue embossed and stencilled background, such a gorgeous colour, and that fun eagle with his nice bright top hat. The oval behind him and the way you have changed the sentiment shape and added the stars works really well. x
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous patriotic card Momma Mary! I love that Eagle and his hat so much that I went and got this digi (along with a few others!) so I could make some cards. Now will it happen this year?!!! Who knows! lol I love the embossed background and inky part of it. I love how you did the sentiment too. Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteLovely 4th of July card, Mary!! Very cute!!
ReplyDeleteHugz!!
Hi, Mary! Your cards are so pretty this week! Each one so different from the others. I especially enjoyed this different take on a patriotic card! Very happy and full of celebration rather than an ominous eagle bird of prey. Love the different techniques, too, which really bring your card to life! hugs, de
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful, love what you have done
ReplyDeleteWhat a nifty card! It is a lot of fun. The background is great. It worked for this project so all the better it didn't work on whatever it was intended for. Sometimes that works out! I have smootch too and like you never think to use it. I even think I put it in one of my desk drawers so it would be right there, but nope, still never think of it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Mary :) So well done on the coloring love the patriotic feel to the card too and such a fun stamp :) Hugs
ReplyDeleteFabulous!!! I love your eagle...so proud!
