Thinking of You - Heartfelt Vase of Flowers

Good afternoon on a quiet Saturday afternoon. Hope that your weekend is off to a good start so far.

Has anyone else noticed their following list drop followers? I've noticed the following numbers at the top drop from 311 to 310, then to 309 but I'm not able to find missing names. So don't know if I've lost 2 followers or Blogger is messing with my mind! I hope it's just Blogger acting up.

The image used on today's card was colored a while back, from a previously stamped Heartfelt image.  Glossy Accents (or the similar Stampin Up product) applied to the vase and the flower centers, but alas, it does not show in the photo. I really like the this look to add a bit of shine on such objects - also makes it look quite dimensional.

- Heartfelt image colored with copics, die cut with a S/B matting basic rectangle.

- Brusho background (Cobalt Blue, Emerald Green & some orange) was die cut with a Sue Wilson background die. The Brusho orange bits were in the center of the background, and as usual, that part cut out & saved for a later project. This piece was placed over a not-quite navy/not-quite teal piece of textured c/s and then placed on a white card base.

- Elizabeth Craft die cut sentiment from a snippet of white c/s, colored with YR to try to match the orange/peach blossoms. Looks quite orange-y in the photo.

This is a  nice image to color...lots of opportunities for some good shading & highlights. I think the most difficult was coloring the wood background to try to make it look patina'd. Started with a base layer of Copic W0, W1, then experimented with some of the gray-green shades, adding as the last layer, some BG0000.

Here is  Misti - I ordered 4 of the super magnets and the other supplies recommended by Iliana - who conceived the idea and designed the product. There is a clear cling cover sheet to place on the cover grid plate but I didn't realize this, until watching a video showing how to properly apply it. Looked, and this item wasn't in my package. Fortunately, the shipping box was still in our recycle boxes, so double checked that it had not been left in the box. Nope; that evening emailed Iliana, who responded very promptly and said she would ship one next day. She did and it's been received. Now how great is that for good & fast customer service! Also advised all my Misti owner buddies that my protective cover sheet was missing, so they could check that they had it. (yeah, they all did!). The top cover of Misti is shown open in the photos here.

Additional graph paper pack, the soap cleaner recommended to clean the surfaces, and 4 super magnets. Shipping was very speedy which was a very pleasant surprise.

If you are interested in this product - which is great if you are doing assembly line images - do check out My Sweet Petunia for the FAQ, international shipping, etc. I've been watching some Youtube videos, & reading high praise of Misti on many blogs too. . Haven't had a chance to play with mine yet, but I'll let you know how I like it. I'm thinking I will like it - LOTS! And no, I don't work for the company either!! LOL.

Thanks for joining me this afternoon. Things are quiet around our house, as it's looking like some rain could come in. Hope your afternoon is going just great. God Bless, big Hugs.

  3. This is a pretty vase of flowers stamp Mary and you have coloured it beautifully. The Brusho background in the blue and green and then cut using the Sue Wilson die adds lots of interest. I love the die cut sentiment in that coordinating orange colour too. The MISTI looks very interesting and will be useful I'm sure. Look forward to hearing about it. x

  4. Love my MISTI! have had it a few months now.

Your card is incredible, Mary - not only the many techniques, but your color choices and amazing shading! Beautiful in every way!

Sometimes Googles Friend Connect followers make changes in what interests them - or what they have time for. Sometimes they change from one reader to another (like from GFC to Bloglovin or Feedly). So even if someone disengages from the GFC, it does not necessarily mean they have stopped following you - they may have decided to follow thru different means.

  6. This popped up on my blogger roll Mary and I had to come take a closer look.
The image and the way you have coloured it is amazing! I had to admit, and I hope I don't annoy or upset you, I thought you had used a vintage print. Girl you got awesome colouring skills!!
I love the stamp image - will have to see if I can get that in the UK. Not quite sure what the buzz is about the Misti but have noticed them popping up all over blog land so I look forward to seeing what you create with it Karen x

  7. Wow, wow wow Mary this is fantastic colouring and I would never in my wildest dreams have thought you had coloured the woodgrain effect background. Absolutely super. I have been to a class today to learn how to colourthe Pointillist way. I got on really well with the method but think I will use my promarkers instead of the copics we were given to use. Made 2 cards and pelased with the results.
Just need my internet to stay up long enough to load pictures of them, resize and post in a draft to save for a blog post.( I'm fed up with my internet service dictating when and where I can or cannot blog. It's silly o'clock here but I have the green light so trying to whizz around as many of you as possible before the ornage light starts flashing). Hugs Mrs A.

  11. Your Brusho work looks pretty good to me Mary, what I so like about them is that there is no right and wrong and anything goes. And loving the vibrancy of colours on your whole card.

Thanks for your kind words, I think we expect a lot of our bodies and that they should heal now the same way they did when we were 20.

    Enjoy your Sunday.

  15. It really is a beautiful image and your colouring is fantastic, you have made the wood grain and flowers look so real with your very clever colouring - I love it - and I can see a slight sheen on the vase too.

I look forward to seeing how you get on with your Misti, I will wait until they hit the UK market before buying, shipping costs are a little too high at the moment and I am not sure I would get lots of use from one (but no doubt I will soon be hankering after one - lol!). Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Hugs, Anne xx

  16. Love that image Mary and your colouring is super you did a wonderful job with the woodgrain.
Just doing a catch up as I have missed so much lately with all that has been going on in my life. If I could just find some time to actually craft would be good.
It is google playing up as I have noticed it has been doing it to me too. The correct number of followers is always up on your dashboard so go check there.

  27. What a lovely card Mary, lovely bright happy colours, great background too.

You got me on the Misti, something new to me, hope it's something I don't need! I've only just had my Cameo LOL

Blogger dropping followers, yes I have been disappointed to see that, but then it would go up again, so maybe a fault, hope it's Blogger not me. I have trouble getting followers anyway!!!!!!!!

  29. Your lovely bouquet card is so pretty, Mary! I love the frame around, too!!

You might have seen me mention this over on Jill's blog ... I also ordered the MISTI, but then I read some warning on Splitcoast Stampers about using the strong magnets if you have a pacemaker/defibrillator. (Of course, I also ordered four of them, ha!) I checked with Iliana if it would be a problem using the magnets, but she said she honestly didn't know. She gave me the name of the magnet company and I emailed them. They told me (underlined) DO NOT use the magnets less than 12" from my device! Well, shoot. You know you lean over to work and get way closer than 12" away from the magnets! Hoping they were being overly cautious, I then contacted Boston Scientific who makes my ICD, and they sadly confirmed that I am not to use the MISTI with the magnets less than a foot away.

I'm going to play with mine anyway using tape or cling sheets someone told me about and see if it works without the magnets. I really like the idea of it so I hope I can make it work.

I'll be doing a paragraph about it in a future post, but feel free to share this caveat with your readers when you talk about it if you want. It's not worth having one's device go haywire and having to go and have it reprogrammed! I advised Iliana that she might want to put a caveat on her site. I didn't see it in the FAQs. It's hard to believe I'm the first person with a device to order a MISTI!

Enjoy your day and the lovely rain!! Hugs, Darnell

  31. Beautiful, beautiful flowers, Mary! And your vase is colored perfectly as well as the wood background! I bought some magnets at Home Depot. There were 3 in the package that were very difficult to get apart. I finally did and put one back in the drawer. One has disappeared and figure it's stuck to the table somewhere but haven't got on my knees under the table to take a look. I showed my Misti to my friends yesterday and 2 were going home to order it. Now I just need to remember to use it for the first stamping!

  40. It's sad to see the followers list is reducing, that has happened to me as well, but not for some time. I do not know if it's a blogger issue, but I know some are leaving blogland, people I followed regularly a year ago aren't all around anymore. Either because of lack of mojo or moving to Facebook. I'm not on Facebook.
I'm one of your more recent followers and I do like what I see. Your style is very different from mine. I especially love the inspiration I find here for the use of colors and different color techniques.

  41. A lovely vase of flowers Mary. I like the glossy accents to give things a bit of shine too.
I got my Misti this week, complete with clear vinyl protective sheet, but I haven´t had much time to try it out yet. I had to send to America for it, but I think it is rather better than the one being shown in UK, though it was a lot more expensive. But it looks well built so I am sure it will serve me. Because the postage is very high for USA to Spain, I didn´t buy all the extras, but I have magnets I can use if I find I need them, and gentle cleaners for these sort of surfaces. I also bought the rose stamps that she used when demonstrating the Misti, and they are lovely. Hopefully there will be a card using them, on my blog very soon.
