Good evening, and welcome. Navy buddies have both arrived safely (although the luggage didn't arrive on the same plane with the fella who flew). We finally collected his carryon - which ended up in the cargo area, as there was no room in the overhead bins - tonight about 11pm. Exciting day and we had a nice dinner at the local Olive Garden (where I always get the Zuppa de Tosca and salad). Everyone but Moi has gone beddy-by.
Recently did a couple cards that needed to be mailed this week. Thought I'd snapped some pics, but when I unloaded the camera card, hmmm....only one was there. Guess I was dreamin'.
This is another image colored some time ago, and no clue as to stamp company. All I did to charge up the previously done coloring, was to add some gold WoS at the base of the sunflower petals, and some clear WoS on other parts. The leaves could probably have used a bit more dark shading now that I see the photo.
- Die cut with a xstitch rectangle die, (maybe Mbox die - largest in that set). Used a stitched die - a bit larger - to cut some paper that looks handmade (but wasn't) for a mat.
- Gold lightweight c/stock was embossed with an EF that had been inked with Memento Toffee Crunch, which toned down the bright gold quite nicely. Since the c/s used for this card base was of a lighter weight, used another c/s that was a bit heavier for the insert. No sentiment was added to this one.
Last bit was to add a trio of gold sequins. Thass' It Folks!
This evening was absolutely lovely. Sat out on the porch swing, with the evening sun filtering through the neighborhood trees, a cooling breeze making it feel so pleasant to be outside, and hummingbirds keeping me company. The neighborhood was very quiet, and our visitors came out to enjoy the peace. (neither of them are porch people, but I think they enjoyed it ...for a few minutes anyway.) I told them, This is what you do in the South!
Have a great Thursday, and thanks for stopping in! Hugs & Blessings.
Pretty sunflowers Mary. Love the patterned paper for the card base. Glad both visitors have arrived safely. I know the boys will have a great time together. xx
ReplyDeleteSound like something all crafters can overcome...we tend to think about our next project by the time we make photo's of the last...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colouring again! Hope you are having a good week!
It's a really super Sunflower image Mary and all so beautifully coordinated.

Hi Mary, Glad your guests arrived ok, despite luggage going astray.
ReplyDeleteLove the card.
Hope you have a nice day. Sue
Hi Mary I've just been reading your description of sitting on the porch to Alistair and we're both saying how lovely it sounds.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful floral card, I adore sunflowers and your colouring is brilliant, beautifully designed too.
A few years back I had one sunflower growing in the garden and what a size it reached, had to put in a cane to support it eventually. Now I hadn't planted a seed, one had seeded itself from the bird feeding. It was gorgeous, must see if I can find the photo I took of it.
Have a lovely day, Kate x
Lovely card Mary - the simplicity of the design and layering really makes the flower stand out.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear your visitors are all arrived and well and enjoying their time already.
Blessings
Maxine

These sunflowers are gorgeous, Mary. Your coloring is awesome. The WOS is a beautiful highlight. And I think the leaves look great. The
ReplyDeletegold card stock with the inking and embossing makes the sunflowers pop. I trust you all will continue to enjoy your time together. BTW, I get so annoyed with myself when I forget to photograph a card before mailing it, but it does happen...Hugs & blessings to you, too :)
Cute card!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous card Mary and I love its simplicity and your colouring is beautiful, and the lovely layering and sequins finish it really prettily. x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Mary! Just sitting on the porch sounds idyllic! If we sat out front in the UK, folk would think we'd lost our marbles!

This is lovely. I'm so glad you saved so many of these cards and are now using them. Just a lttle touch up and away you go! It's a nice way to end the day by just sitting and relaxing in the outdoors. I have a porch too and lots of times either I or the neighbors will walk over and visit on the porch. Glad hubby's friends got there okay, I'm sure they have lots to talk about.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful sunflowers, Mary! And I love that embossed background peeking out! Such a happy card! Enjoy this cooler weather!
ReplyDeleteSitting out on the porch sounds wonderful and I'm sure your visitors enjoyed it greatly. A lovely card Mary. What a pretty stamp. Sunflowers are such happy flowers. Barbxx
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. I love how you repeatedly make your cards from bits and pieces that you find in your stash! Beautifully colored sunflowers with the WOS sparkle. and the background embossed layer is the perfect match for the flowers. Beautiful Mary. Enjoy your guests. I'd love to sit on the porch with you!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous, Mary! Your coloring is so beautifully done. Love the framing on this one!
ReplyDeleteMary, this is a lovely card! I love sunflowers. I'm sure your other cards were wonderful too but I'm glad to see the pic of this one. Made me smile this morning. Enjoy your visit with old friends. That's always such a pleasant time. We are still in the heat here in the midwest. It might be fall on the calendar but it seems the summer hasn't moved on yet. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteWOW!! The sunflowers are just gorgeous Mary!! I love the texture in your background and the coloring looks stunning too! :) Thanks for sharing! HUGS
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear that the Navy buddies got there safely and that ya'll are having a good visit so far. Sorry to hear about the luggage thing, that would worry me. Your card is just beautiful Momma Mary! I love sunflowers and you have colored these up so perfectly!! Love, love, love! Yes, southern people do love to sit out on the porch and that is where my love of sitting out came from!! My favorite thing to do is to sit outside and read. I don't have a nice porch, but a decent patio and pool deck, so those are my sitting places. Sorry I've been gone for so long, still busy with Savannah, but the wedding stuff is done for my friend thank goodness. Hoping to get in my old routine soon. Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteSeems that you have had an italian dinner, Mary! :) I'm glad you have liked it!
ReplyDeleteLovely sunflowers beautifully coloured with the bit of sparkling and I like very much your gold embossed base with the Toffee Crunch ink, it has a wonderful bi-tones colour!
Enjoy the breeze on your porch and the quiet evening.... it's a so sweet time to live!
Hugs
I do love sunflowers and yours are so beautiful Mary, your colouring is superb and I love the stitching holes in the border, I keep meaning to get some of those dies! It must be so lovely to have beautiful little hummers for company on your porch... Hugs, Anne xx
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at your comment that neither are porch people. I can't say I've thought about it before but I'd have to say I'm not either, what with allergies, heat and/or mosquitoes, just count me out. This is quite a lovely card. I always like sunflower images and this is a fine one. I notice we all seem to pair them with an orangish yellow and green. It's what sunflowers require.
ReplyDeleteI love sunflowers and you have certainly shown them off beautifully. Love the colours you used on the backing card and your die frame. It's Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy more porch time with your visitors.
Hugs
Faith
