Here's a card made from one colored quite a while back, and the design is from Color Zen Perfectly Portable Pages by Valentina Harper (found my book at a Michael's store for $5.00). The paper would probably work well for pencils, but I wanted to use copics, so needed a better & heavier quality paper. It was fun & therapeutic to color also.
Removed the page from the coloring book, copied onto Copic Xpress paper using the inkjet printer. Let the ink dry well before trying to color it. (might be able to add some clear heat EP over the ink while it's still damp, and that would retard any smearing).
Used some of the Kaisercraft Gel pens on the flower & leaf veins, and added some gold Nuvo Crystals to the stamens. Shaded the outside edges with DI Victorian Velvet.
- green edging was made by sponging DI shades of green over white c/s. Rubbed Perfect Pearls Gold mica powder over the sponging while it was still 'wet', and then burnished to a glow. Dry embossed with the C/B Falling Snow EF. Added this as a side and bottom border for a bit more color.
- die cut the sentiment from a snippet of the same green background, 2 layers. Added a trio of tiny pearls to finish off.
Hope you've had a lovely day and ready for a pleasant weekend. Thanks for stopping by. Big hugs & blessings too.
Funnily enough I saw some smaller colouring books just this week and thought what a good idea they were as most are rather large as you rightly say Mary. The flowers on this creation are really beautiful.

Pretty flowers Mary! Great colouring with copics. Love the added touches of sparkle and shine with the perfect pearls background and gold stamens. Haven't bought any of the colouring books ... yet! :) xx
ReplyDeleteHi Mary, I have been into the adult colouring books for some time now. I try and use mine as back grounds papers on my cards, but they might be ok for scrapbooking as well. Must admit I never thought to cut bits out.
ReplyDeleteYour card is lovely and your colouring is fab.
Hope you have a lovely weekend. Sue
This is a really pretty Hibiscus image Mary and love the colours you have used and the pretty inked edges which go beautifully with that green background you made and embossed. Hope you are feeling better and that DH has finished all his tests now. x
ReplyDeleteThis looks beautiful Mary. Lovely colouring with your copics and the shading looks great. You've made a really lovely card. Barbxx
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous colouring. I love this flower. Crafters Companion do colouring books that have thicker paper in them especially for marker pens. hugs Mrs A.

I love the wonderful shading on the leaves and petals, and the gold Nuvo just finishes it off perfectly.
What a very fab idea that colouring book idea was as it makes such a boeautiful card.
Love your Autumn blog face and the brown type face I find it very easy to read.
Love and big hugs from my house to yours.
I do hope you and the mister are feeling A1 now.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Wow those flowers are gorgeous and you've done an amazing job coloring them too! I never thought about doing the coloring book the way you did yours and I think that's a great idea! Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend! HUGS
ReplyDeleteLovely colouring Mary, and very pretty flowers. I have one smaller colouring book that came free with a magazine some time ago and I thought maybe I could use some for card making. The designs are a bit busy though and would take quite a bit of time. Anyway your card is beautiful.

Beautifull cad, Mary, and adorable flowers so beautifully coloured! Love the Victorian Velvet distress ink on the edges, it makes the card so soft!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant idea emboss the printer ink to prevent it smudging, I must try! (I don't use digi images because my printer inks blend with alcohol markers...)
Gorgeous colouring on this beautiful flower Mary, love the colours you have used.

I've shied away from the coloring books but this makes me rethink that, Mary! What a beautiful image and as always, beautifully colored! It makes a gorgeous card with that background!
ReplyDeleteWOW, Mary! Your coloring is gorgeous! The shading is so expertly done! Love the image and love the idea of copying the image on X-Press It! The light ink around the edges truly shows off your beautiful artwork!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely your design is, Mary, and the delicately inked edging brings a softness to the colors, drawing the eye to the carefully shaded and highlighted petal tips! It's beautiful! I have not colored any of mine yet, and am looking forward to doing so! Hoping you are well, and that the germies have finally left your home! hugs, de
ReplyDeleteYou are so clever to transfer your image - the coloring pages use SO much ink, and don't allow for very good blending. LOVE this beautiful card, Mary! Thanks for sharing, and for teaching me such a clever trick!
ReplyDeleteWow Mary, what a card. I wish that I could colour like that. Looks so lovely. Hugs Rita xxx
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Mary, such a beautiful image and lovely colouring.

So pretty . Coloring books are very popular I have not caught the bug ...yet...........Lis
ReplyDeleteI never thought about using the coloring book designs to make cards with but that is a fabulous idea. I sent my friend a swear word coloring book for her birthday. It had swear words with lots of frilly flourishes, flowers and scrolls around them. It made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous card and very beautiful coloring!
