Thinking of you Birds

Good afternoon and welcome. Been a busy day as I had a breathing rehab visit scheduled for today. Put through some paces, and I did better than I expected. Found out that Medicare only allows a lifetime of 36 visits that will be covered (and if Medicare doesn't cover, neither will our supplemental policy). Some years back, I was sent for some respiratory rehab...and showed improvement for the first period of visits. The drs authorized another set of sessions (which had I known about the lifetime restriction I could have done as self-directed, and saved those visits!) And it did help with my breathing problems. With one thing and another, we stopped going to this rehab/fitness center, but we had joined as lifetime members. So after a couple discussions with the therapist, I'm going to just go as a fitness member (it's $31 a month for as many times as I can go...but it's also a 18 mile drive one way!) rather than call it 'rehab therapy' and have to pay over $50 per visit, going twice weekly. The therapist showed me what to do this morning, and it's not that different from what I did years ago, so I think I can manage doing it this way.

One other blogger aggravation (Uh-gin). I'm getting email notices when someone comments (think I'm getting all of them)...but when I publish, I don't get the reminder email as previously. If I'm busy, I let those reminders stay in my mailbox, so that when I get a few minutes, I can return some visits. Now I'm going out to the blog, opening up comments and trying to be sure I don't miss returning a visit to all of you. Is anyone else having this experience? I'm wondering if I should unscribe and rescribe again (per Darnell's instructions?). I'm sort of afraid to rock the boat...as this is still workable.

Now, here's a card done earlier. Perhaps later this week,  I can share the cards made in Bonnie's class last Saturday.

PBlack Layered Scene Die - cut from w/color weight paper. Did the first layer with zigs..not happy with the effort. Layered another atop this one, and tried again. I think I finished by shading with copics. (got my die at Simon Says Stamps, but can't find it in stock now, so added the Amazon link).

- Sizzix 3D wood grain EF. Inked the EF and then embossed, so there's a slight hint of blue in the background.

Don't remember which company did the Hello. It was one that has the skinny inside words & 'balloon' outside part; used the 'balloon part'  as it made more of an impact IMHO. I had placed the 'inner part' die on the card, and it didn't look right, so I used this part instead to cut 2 layers.

Hope your week is off to a great start. It was a little cooler here this morning, but warmed up fast enough :-)

Thanks for joining me, and sending big Hugs. Come again when you have time.

  2. I feel so bad for you regarding the costs for something you need. I’m glad you found an alternative way to go so that’s good. Your card is so cute. I really love the blue birds surrounded by the pretty leaves and flowers. Great card

  3. THis is so pretty, and I love the color combination! Beautiful embossed background too with the big Hello sentiment! Glad you figured out how to get around the red tape with your breathing issues. I had no idea there were lifetime limits on anything either? TC and have a great week ahead!

  4. Sounds like a plan on the fitness/rehab deal! Hang in there with it.

  5. This PB die is very pretty Mary and I love the way you have coloured it and the woodgrain background goes really well and especially with the touch of blue running through it, and the large sentiment really does pack a punch. I'm not sure about this Mary as I think I do it differently to you anyway. I have always gone to the 'comment' section on the blog to publish comments, and if I want to remind myself of who has commented so I can return the favour, I look at the 'published' section of my blog and then work my way down the list. x

  6. Hi, Mary! Sorry to hear about the breathing rehab. I was fortunate during my rehab to have therapists who explained what I needed to do at home. Now I am unable to make the visits, but can still do the helpful therapy on my own using stuff around my house. Isn't it nice to have such caring health care providers? Hope you are soon feeing improved. As for the comment thingy - there are 2 places in our blogs where we have to sign up to receive notifications, plus, if you want to receive a copy automatically, you need to delete and put back in your address in a different spot as well. Also, you can sign up like a visitor would, and see exactly what they receive. At the top of my blog, you will see a link for how to do some of these things. I hope it helps! hugs, de

  10. Hi Mary - hope your breathing issues improve soon for you - DH struggled for years, so I know how debilitating they can be! Thankfully the Asthma society here is very helpful, and works in conjunction with our health system which is free...
love your card - so cheerful against the light background

  13. Love these vibrant scene, Mary! The woodgrain makes a great background to show it off! A very uplifting card! Can't help at all with your Blogger problems. Seems like Google is always changing up things.

  14. Hi Mary, your card is quite beautiful, I love the birds and the lovely bright colours.
So pleased to hear that you are able to get around the breathing issue. I dread that here in the UK we loose our NHS, it is going that way as this evil government and the previous one is trying to privatise it. Although many people think it is free, it is at the point of delivery but of course we have all paid into it throughout our working lives with national insurance payments, it's the best thing ever, and with out it many people in the UK will just die. Rant over, but I'm passionate about the NHS, keep well, Kate x

  17. I love your beautiful card you made and it certainly is one that will be appreciated by the recipient. Great colors for it. And, I hope your at home therapy does the trick for you too. I think I am getting my notices just like I did before. I got an email asking if I still wanted to be subscribed and I answered yes. Perhaps you did but dismissed it as nonsense. Sometimes it is hard to tell these days if it is a spam thing or not.

  19. Hiya Mary, love that die, those little birds and flowers are just lovely in the frame and the Hello, sometimes we just have to go with our gut feeling. I think it looks like it's saying a great "Hello".
I'm glad to hear you are able to do the exercises you have been told to do, as for the blog thingy, I'm not getting messages about comments either, so will have a look at Donna's suggestions. My problem was because I stopped a spam follower and made a mess of the blog, now I have to remember to go and add comments. Hope you're able to sort it.

  20. The bird frame die is lovely and I think it’s great for coloring or as a silhouette for quick made cards. I also think it could amended slightly for making it perfect for winter and Christmas too. I think it’s pretty colored and I’m sure I would never have thought of adding blue ink to the wooden embossed pattern, but I find it to work really well.

  21. There shouldn't be "lifetime" appointments on this kind of thing, but I am finding more and more of this stuff happening. I am glad you were able to work around it Momma Mary, as this is something that you need! Love this bright and cheery card! Those little birds are so cute. Love the embossing and big beautiful bold "hello"! Hugs, Brenda

  22. Bit of a downer having lifetime limitations to something you need!!!I still don't get e-mail notifications and have tried everything people suggest -just have to rely on reading list-which isn't listing some blogs and have to keep going through blog posts to see who has commented -a bit of a pain and time water too--never mind.Great card and die-cuts

  23. Before I forget, Mary, I love your card, which looks even more beautiful in person! Thank you, again!! Now, second, good job getting back to the gym and finding a work-around that will keep you healthy and exercising ... so important! (It's a stupid rule by Medicare! I mean, who WANTS to keep going to PT? I can't see very many people abusing PT visits!)

Thirdly, I'm not sure what you mean by "reminder email as previously." I've never gotten a reminder email from Blogger, but I'm not sure if that's what you mean.

The only thing I know is that some of your readers may not have email addresses that your server allows. Sorry if I mentioned this before. For instance Comcast, our server, does not consider anyone with Yahoo, AOL, or binternet (there may be others) as safe and secure and so I do not receive email comments from them in my inbox. They ARE on the blog and it IS frustrating as heck, but there is nothing that can be done about it until those readers update to some other email program. Other than that, the fix given before should work! Donna has a great tab on her blog. I did not have that second box activated so I just did it and I did get an email from Google asking me to confirm "subscribe." I'll let you know if I start getting double email comments now! Okay, I just went and checked and three emails have come in just now and they are not doubles, so phew, that's good! If you've done this fix and it still doesn't work than the problem might lie with Charter. net and not Blogger. Good luck! Hugs, Darnell
