Get Well, Pixie's Crafty Snippets

Hello & welcome to my corner of Upstate SC, where there is a beautifully sunny & pleasant day. Our little Redbud tree finally burst into blossom - seemed like overnight (or maybe I was just missing a look at it for a couple days!). So a picture of that will come after my card.

This card is pretty much a total SNIPPET card (that sounds so much nicer than saying Scraps, doesn't it?).

- used a negative diecut from another project (diecut was from S/Binders Label 14 as a mask, to airbrush light toned Copics in BG, G, & YG colors. First laid down a layer of the BG (probably BG000). Then I saw a metal filigree cap from one of the 'smelly jars' that I keep around in the basement. When the wax stuff had dried, I saved the cap, because I thought it was pretty ...and what could I use it for? So I had set it over on the airbrush table. Was just messing about one evening, as I had not airbrushed for a while, the negative piece was to hand, so off I go. I put the cap over the first airbrushed layer, then started in with the greens. The cap is round, so I just moved it around as I played.

- Next I found the negative pieces from where I had diecut some Memory Box flower stems, and thought "Hmmm, wonder how that would look?". Got some darker BG's and away again. That didn't look too awful, but I put it aside until later.

- Found some snippets of the teal & vanilla cardstock, decided to diecut some more stems for dimension. There was also a Memory Box green flourish (sorry I don't remember the name of the die!) that had been left on the table (ah, another snippet) . I just played around with arranging the materials on the airbrushed piece until I got something that I thought I sort of liked. Could this be a card? Well, you tell me!

- Decided I needed 3 ribbon flowers & some pearl centers in the mix- ribbon flowers were handy on the messy desk, as were the tiny yellow pearls

- hunted up some ribbon to make a bow to hide the stems. Used an MS corner punch to dress up a bit. Found a piece of Coord'nations that would size for a card (snippet!). Embossed with a Darice Basketweave folder, then sanded it a little - also got a tear at the very top. Had to stick some tape on the inside, but I think the insert will hide it, and it's not too evident on the front.

- one more snippet made the sentiment...which was too small to use a die...so trimmed it, cut a V shape...Called it done.

I'm off to Pixie's Playground with this one...it really & truly is made up of snippets! I invite you to come along, see what lovely projects are submitted, and even think about joining in all the fun. It's a great way to clear off some stuff  snippets off your work area, plus create something wonderful. Have a Blessed Day. Come again soon. Hugs

Oops...nearly forgot to share my little Redbud tree...this little guy is about 3 yrs old and always blooms after all our neighbors' trees. I don't know what the official name is...that's what the species is called around here. Just in the lefthand side, is visible our October Glory Maple, which has buds.

  5. Wow, what a beautiful card Mary!! You sure are good with that airbrush my friend, I would have splats of ink everywhere and it sure would look like yours! lol Of course I would have no clue how to use an airbrush. Oh my your tree is just gorgeous! I wanted to pretty little tree like that, haven't gotten one yet though. lol Maybe one day! We got up to 86 degrees today, it hasn't been that warm this early since 1922 here. Our grass is so green, and has to be mowed, for the second time!! The first time we just knocked off the high spots, but this time the whole yard needs mowing. And so it begins....Hugs my friend!

  6. Very pretty card...doesn't it amaze you sometimes...just what we can do with our scraps...whoops. snippets!

Love the airbrushing...haven't ever tried that but sure love the look of it.
You picked some great memory box dies for this one.

Thought you might get a chuckle out of Little Mr P. Today, I was helping him get his shoes and coat on and he said quite politely "Don't look at me Grandma" and put his hand up to shield his peripheral vision. his little face was red and he was blushing...I think he got self conscious and is was just so cute. He was so polite about it but walked to the front door with his little hand up shielding me the whole time. Once we got outside for our walk he forgot about it in no time...but told me later sometimes he just doesn't like people to look at him!!! And that it makes him feel hot! teeehee

  9. Wow, I adore this Mary! LOVE the way you used so many snippets - and the result is absolutely breathtaking. Air brushing? Would I need a white protection suit to try that then? :)

  10. Very pretty card - the airbrushing looks great. Don't think I'll try it though as I can see the whole room being airbrushed. Pretty tree too - it looks a bit like a flowering cherry to me.

  18. Fantastic snippets make, Mary! Thank you for sharing that breathtaking redbud! I'm happy to see that you are enjoying springtime there. I feel so guilty with all the blooming beauty and wonderful weather here, when so many in the States, and especially in the UK are still getting hammered by Ole Man Winter!
