Christmas, Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge

Good morning Friend Bloggers, & at my house we have a sunshine morning. Welcome to a new follower, Stephanie (http://cricutmimi.blogspot.com/) whom I just met at the Friday Fun Day Challenge. Stephanie does some beautiful cards using her Cricut & Silhouette, so give her a look-in, if you have the chance.

Today's card is for the Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge #128, to use a diecut. I've had this image cut out for a while (recycled Christmas card), but just didn't get rountoit for making a card. Last evening I did a few more diecuts to mat it, embossed the background with a Crafts Two Pine Tree Scene.

Focal image -  diecut with a classic S/B oval. First gold mat (snippet) was cut with the S/B floral oval and the mirror gold (snippet too) was cut with the ornate oval.

Green textured Bazzill base was embossed, then I rubbed some Snow over the trees, and IRL it looks nice. Doesn't show up well here however. I added a bit to the image as well (where the texture shows), plus a bit of Glossy Accents on the stream. This was a small scene on a larger card, and fit my S/B oval perfectly.

Sentiment - a new Britannia word die received yesterday from Joanna Sheen, a UK company.
I got the info on that wonderful site from Mrs. A and Miss Pixie of the famous Playground group. (Thanks to both of you). I keep telling ya'll, this is a happening place. These folks know a BUNCH of good stuff! I will love these dies. This one cut beautifully, and I got free shipping, (well, 'fess up time: I bought a couple of them, but truly not a big investment to get free shipping - which was also pretty fast). This particular set was actually 2 sets, each with a small & larger word. I think I'll get a lot of use out of these dies.

As a finishing touch, I added some Viva Décor Pearls in silver on the mat.

Hope you like this one. I'm going to submit it to Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge and also jump on over to Pixie's Crafty Workshop, Week 76.  Come on along, and let's have some fun. This one is a simple card, but I promise you'll see some gorgeous work at both these places. In addition, get to know some wonderful people!

Hope you can see the little holder my card is sitting on. Our best friend loves going to estate sales, and I've had him watching for some old flower holders. I've seen these used to hold cards for photography on a few blogs, so thought I'd like one. Yesterday he sent me 3, in differing sizes. Makes a great easel but I have to find a way to have a better 'decorative background'. This was taken in front of my kitchen table's windows! Not very scenic. Anyway, thanks for joining me today, and have a happy crafting afternoon.

  6. Hi Mary. Fabulous recycling of a past Christmas card. Love all the special touches you've added ... and layering two different oval frames in slightly different golds - looks beautiful. And love the embossed and "snow" covered trees. Beautiful layout and design. Loll xx

  7. Mary this is a beautiful card. You do some beautiful work my friend. I love the scene and how perfectly it fits in the SB oval. Love the snow you added to the card and the glossy accents. I really want to know if you can link me to the site where you purchased the word dies? Also, I've been looking for one of those flower holders for forever and cannot find one anywhere. Would you be willing to sell me one? Let me know!

    Hugs,
    Jo
