HiYa, and welcome. Thanks for all the sweet comments on the new bathroom. Mr. is painting in there today, so pretty soon all the things that hang on the wall, set on shelves, etc, that have been thoroughly dusted... can go back in the normal places. And we will be DONE! (with that part anyway). Embarrassing to see all the dust on stuff that sets in place for months & months (well, probably years!) so that was good to get cleaned. There's a cabinet over the toilet so it's high up enough, one never sees the dust until one has to take the 'pretties stuff' down from the top of it....then one is Very Embarrassed at what a poor housekeeper one has become. :-(
Here's another card made from old stash bits that were done years ago...(at least in boxes, the pieces don't get dusty! LOL)
- old wooden block rose, probably embossed with Ranger's Queens Gold, over black c/s, die cut with a S/B rectangle...gold mat.
- a gray tone card base embossed with a S/B EF, swirled over with a TH sponging tool, using Delicata gold. Found this works better for me to get an even look than trying to use a finger dauber. The gold on the embossing doesn't show in the photo, but it's there. :-}
- Old MS lace punch cut the border scallop from a snippet of black glitter paper. This punch was the first one I ever bought- think it was in Walmart, for $5.00. Used a tiny strip of the paper (from cutting the scallop) to edge the bottom of the card base where the embossing had stopped.
- Sentiment die cut from snippet of the black glitter. This will be going to our next door neighbor who had surgery today.
Hope ya'll are having a fine afternoon. Think I got all the over-due visits returned yesterday afternoon. Sometimes I'm not always certain that Blogger publishes my comments, so if you've left me a visit and I didn't return one, let me know...If there's a lot of comments to catch up, I don't go back to double check on the publishing. I do try to return visits to anyone who's been kind enough to leave me a comment. Still don't know how to comment at the Google Plus blogs though. So any help on that would be appreciated.
Hugs & thanks for visitin'. Bye ya'll
The gold & black combo looks so pretty against that white embossed background and the gold-embossed rose is really pretty! I still have that same MS lace doily border punch - it's my 2nd one! The first one broke and I had to move heaven and earth to find another one too! Enjoy that new bathroom once it's done - the rest is probably just cosmetic now :)
ReplyDeleteA very elegant card, Mary. A lovely image and I love the punched border down the side. xx
ReplyDeleteThis is so gorgeous, Mary!! The gold embossed rose is so beautiful!! I love the embossing and the sparkling scalloped border!! Stunning!!
ReplyDeleteI have trouble with Google+ blogs, too, but I've discovered if you click on the heading to bring up the individual post, the comment section appears. Does that make sense? Email me if not and I'll try to explain it better :) Have a great evening my friend!! Big hugs :)

A Mermaid's Crafts
It's normal forget the unused things... This is for craft stash and for the pretties stuff in the cabinets :)
ReplyDeleteYour card is gorgous, it has a so feminine and elegant design! I have enlarged the photo and have seen the delicate gold on the embossed background, it looks amazing!! The glittered border is a perfect complement of the golden rose! Very stylish work!
Hugs
This one is SO beautifully designed! Nothing is classier than black, white and gold! Your lace border is the perfect touch, Mary! LOVE this!
ReplyDeleteThe black and the gold is very pretty Mary and the rose is a beauty, and I also love the MS border and the embossed card base finishes it beautifully. Glad all the renovations are nearly complete, and I know what you mean about dust in hard to reach areas. I'm think these sort of housekeeping jobs are only done occasionally by most of us. I think to myself these days that life's too short and there are far more interesting things to be doing..lol. x
ReplyDeleteYou have certainly given some 'old' stuff a very new lease of life! Very elegant and classy my friend! Love the neutral colours with the gold and black, so classy! Have a great week my friend! Hazel xx
ReplyDeleteMy Card Attic
Wow Mary! That card is beautiful! I love the black and gold together and it's really a pretty stamp. I need to get more of my older stamps out and start using them. Love the punched border!

Another beautiful and elegant card from your bits box. Always feels good to get some of those used up. I admire your commitment! Hope you are keeping well. xx
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful and elegant card. Love all the details.

What lovely elegant yet dramatic looking card, the contrast between the colours make such an impact, that beautiful rose stamp in the gold......a lovely card to receive Mary.Glad you are still progressing well with the clean and clear....I give up in the summer having all the windows and doors open everything gets dusty so I just don't look! Xxxxxx
ReplyDeleteI love my wooden stamps because so many are beautiful just like the Rose you used. I love the gold and black and the glitter black is perfect on this elegant card.
ReplyDeleteHow I love this combo- with the gold flower. The border on the side adds a nice touch!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary, So what's going to be done next, now the bathroom is basically finished?
ReplyDeleteI hear you about dust. Ino sooner dust here and you look round and there's dust again.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving your comment.
Sorry I can't help with the Google+ problem.
Hope you have a lovely day. Sue
What a very smart looking card Mary, the gold really bounces off the black and gives such a feel of elegance. And it's always so refreshing to use up bits and pieces and old stash, gives a sense of achievement I think.

Beautiful card, I love the rose image and the colours are wonderful, black and gold together is so striking.
ReplyDeleteI've got bits I can't reached either for dusting, and of course Alistair is not the dusting kind of person, but hey ho I don't see it.
I'll be in touch soon, Kate x
What a stunning card Mary - I am sure it will be well received. Gold and black are always stunning together.

Very stylish and stunning in the black and gold design. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteCute card!!
ReplyDeleteOh my, what an elegant card Momma Mary! I love that rose and I love it embossed in gold, so beautiful. The punch border (one of my favorite) looks so pretty and girly. Love the dry embossing too. I think your neighbor will love this card! You not alone in being embarrassed by dust on things. Just way to easy to skip over this types of areas, like the top of the fridge! And because I'm so short, 4'11", I don't see the tops of things, so I don't always remember to dust them!! That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!! lol Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous card Mary. I love the color combination. So simple yet so striking and elegant. Love that lacy border! I cleaned our bedroom thoroughly last week and moved some furniture. The ceiling fan was definitely a disaster as I can't tell you when the last time we dusted that. LOL! Hopefully once I retire fully I'll have more time to do those kinds of projects. Who am I kidding. I'd rather be crating. Have an awesome day!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty Mary. Love how you pull out your old scraps and make such gorgeous projects with them. The gold rose is stunning against the black
ReplyDeleteLove the black and gold, very elegant, super image and the die is great.
ReplyDeleteHad to laugh at your embarrassment, aren't we ALL the same? It's so easy to forget hard to reach areas.
As for Google+, I have difficulty with that too, but I THINK you just comment on the email reply, at least that's what I have been doing, I hope it's right.

Beautifully done from pieces, Mary! Don't you love being inspired by "old" stuff from years ago? I do, and I'm looking forward to doing more that myself! I hear you about the dusting. It is my least favorite chore when it comes to housework. But it is a necessity. I have always purchased furniture, etc, based on how difficult it will be to dust and clean LOL
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you that the painting is soon to be completed and that you'll be somewhat back to normal -- whatever that may be these days -- I'm thinking there is no such thing as normal, other than it is normal for "stuff" to constantly be happening! LOL
hugs,
de
This is so elegant with the black and gold! It will make your neighbor feel much better, I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteLove how simple yet stunning it is Mary! I have that same border punch too. It really makes a nice boarder. I no what you mean about the dust, lol. Have some of those high spots too!!
ReplyDeleteIt's been some time since I've used dark card stock as background, it gives your card a very elegant look and the gold looks even more golden with the dark paper a contrast. Must try soon. Very elegant, perfect for any occasion, even as a sympathy card, it's all up to the sentiment. Lovely border used too.
ReplyDeleteThe gold and black looks so very pretty Mary.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for you that you are about to close the bathroom chapter succesfully. Enjoy your new bathroom. Big hug Veerle x
The gold, black and white are so striking and elegant Mary, your card is beautiful! Glad to hear you are on the home run with the bathroom.
ReplyDeleteI would not worry too much about the dust Mary, I think us crafters are all of the same mind, life is too short to dust all the time!! Crafting on the other hand, is good for the soul! I know which I prefer... Hugs, Anne xx
Really beautiful card Mary love the black and gold, great rose and lovely border die.
ReplyDeleteWell after years and years of dusting and polishing we are allowed to give it a rest these days.

Tres elegant Mary, there is always something so very grown up about black and gold. I don't experiment nearly enough and should really get out my embossing powders more often...if only I had the time at the moment!! As for dust...who cares if you can't see it!!!!??? xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely card and a great trip through memory lane. Yes, old stamp! I remember grandma having it (she had to have all the roses), and that border punch! Yes! My first Martha Border punch from Walmart. I was out of state and when out of state you visit the local sites like Walmart (?!).
ReplyDeleteAs for the dust in high places, hubby who is taller than me used to comment on the lack of dusting for the upper shelves. So I told him out of my sight, out of my responsibility, but since he could see it.... So now he doesn't comment.
Love this beautiful card Mary, black & gold so classy and elegant! beautiful rose stamp and one of my favorite MS punches..
ReplyDeleteI dont see dust Mary till I put my reading glass`s on, then hang my head in shame LOL.
Pam x
May be old but still one of my fav border punches the card turned out very pretty
ReplyDeleteLis
You are so funny Mary...your bathroom cupboard sounds like the top of my refrigerator, something that rarely gets wiped down, I'm just not tall enough to see the dust, so in my mind it is not there, LOL.
ReplyDeleteYour card is so sweet...love your beautiful rose and that lacy edging, so beautiful and elegant!
Black & gold is so elegant & I love it here, Mary! You'd feel so good about your housekeeping if you came to my house--haha!
ReplyDeleteI really love this color combo on your card and the beautiful lace and floral image. A beauty!
ReplyDeleteVery elegant and stunning!
ReplyDeleteI agree if it's out of eyeshot why dust simple lol--beautiful card ans embossed rose, love the black and gold
ReplyDeleteCarol x
Beautiful card, love roses and gold and black always look perfect together.
ReplyDeleteNever be embarrassed about dust, its the sign of a very busy person. You have a life and the last thing we should worry about is dust unless of course its so thick you cant find things under it.....nah only joking. Crd making is the priority isn't it!!
So pretty, Mary!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful card Mary! I love the Gold and black look!
