HAPPY HALLOWEEN
Welcome and a Spooky Halloween to you! Thanks for checking in and I hope you're planning a special day. Do you hand out candy tonight? We normally buy a couple bags with the items individually wrapped or sealed. The past few years, we've varied from having lots of kids to just a few, with candy left. Surrounding areas frequently bring kids in cars to our neighborhood as well. We don't need to eat the leftovers; it's hard to find places to donate it to (safety reasons, even if the places know who we are & the bags are still sealed); the neighbors all have their own leftovers to push on their grandkids. One year the ladies in our doctor's office told us "We can't give it to the kids, but WE can eat it". So this year, we just got one big bag of candy bars, and when it is all gone (if it is!) - we'll turn out the porch light and hope we get no tricksters. We both enjoy seeing the little kids, but sometimes we get ones old enough they should be buying their own candy. Most of them seldom even say "Thank you" either. Still, we do it for the littles.
OK...another card that didn't get an insert made, so guess it will go in the stash. Hope I remember this next year and mail some out in time. Also hope next year will not be so stressful as this year has been.
The Gina K die cuts the stitched scallop piece, with a separate frame. Colored that green, inlaid the scallop back into the rectangle. Adhered that to a kraft card base, which I then covered up with angled strips of different Halloween themed dp. I was chuckling as I colored the image, at that kitty's goofy look. (I'm very allergic to cats, so I seldom do cat images! Once in a while though.)
Big hugs, and thanks for visiting. Hope you don't get any tricksters tonight.
Another cute and fun card for Halloween! Love the little spider poking his head out too.

I love that image and that cat is so cute, and the colours are just right for Halloween Mary. We don't do Halloween but it is fun for the young ones. We put a sign out which explains and says we wish them all a good evening. When I was growing up it wasn't something that happened here, and it has only become more popular over the last 10 to 15 years. I do hope that next year you have less stress and more time to devote to what you enjoy. x
ReplyDeleteVery cute indeed Mary! Lovely Halloween image with that cute little kitty! Love the background papers and sparkle too and the little spider popping in is an adorable addition. Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween to you Mary, what a darling card design. We just don't get kids trick or treating where we live , mostly because the weather tends to rainy that night.
ReplyDeleteHugs Diane
Hi Mary, In the 24 years I've lived here, I have only had Trick or Treaters round once. I didn't have anything in except fruit, so the two lads got an orange each and were very polite and thanked me.
ReplyDeleteLove the card.
Hope you have a nice stream of little Trick or Treaters and they say thank you. Sue
Gorgeous card Mary!
ReplyDeleteWe don't celebrate Halloween in Greece, and in Norway where I live with my husband they don't have it either but of course most of the children have adopted this holiday for a chance of dressing up and getting candy :-)
Have a great Halloween!
xoxo Olga

Fantastic fun card Mary, love the wonderful image and your colours, super design too, Kate x
ReplyDeleteHi Mary, Halloween isn't an italian tradition, but the kids love the idea (and candies) :D so they have little parties with this theme.
ReplyDeleteYour card makes me smile, it's fun and cute! Lovely colouring and great design!!
Another super Halloween card, Mary, love the image.
ReplyDeleteHalloween isn't as big in the UK, but we keep some Halloween chocolate ready just in case. We've just had two little witches knock on the door, so I'm glad we were prepared. xx
Hello Mary. I understand your post so well. We both loved Halloween too, but after last year we decided to stop. We were told in no uncertain terms that it was money they wanted now as Sweets and Candy apples are bad for their teeth. How ungrateful are they. Hope you're well honey. Hugs Rita xxxx
ReplyDeleteA super card Mary, such a fun image.
ReplyDeleteWe don't get any callers any more, all of the children in our area have grown up and there are not many houses so people don't bother to come to our neighbourhood!

I don´t celebrate Halloween, but hope yours are fabulous as your card.

Another fabulous pumpkin image and love the look on the face of the cat, looks terrified. Great design too.

Such a lovely Halloween card, the image is just adorable! Our Halloween is just about over and we have not had a single Trick or Treat-er come to visit, hardly surprising I guess as it is not celebrated by everyone over here. Hope you managed to give out your candy! Hugs, Anne xx
ReplyDeleteA really lovely Halloween card Mary. I love that fun image and great colours. Barbxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun Halloween card with that adorable kitty image and the diagonally striped dsp! I love the jolly pumpkins and dangling spider too! We get no trick or treaters anymore, so we don't even waste the money on candy. Heaven knows we can't be eating it ourselves, so I don't give in to the temptation! Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteWe do not celebrate Halloween Mary, love your card though, fabulous image and colouring.

Fabulous Halloween card great image and love the little spider--I took our grandaughters out as they are staying with us at the moment-they got quite a good haul considering not many people celebrate Halloween here -but there was the odd house decorated-but never seen soo many houses indarkness or signs on the door saying no trick or treats here!!!Hubby and daughter was left in charge of our box of candy to give out

I love this kitty! Looks like he got some bad candy! We've had a few trick or treaters but it's pretty slow so far. Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors, papers and design of your cute Halloweenie card, Mary! We live rurally and have not seen trick or treaters since 1989. Have fun! Hugs, de
ReplyDeleteFun card Mary. It is cute with the cat.x [aNNie]
ReplyDeleteThis is a really cute card with the funky pumpkins and the stressed pussy cat. Love the different papers you used and everything works so well together. We had about 35 kids which is a far cry from what we used to get which was 130.
ReplyDeleteI love how you combined all the pp papers. Not too sure about the poor kitty. He looks like he ate too much Halloween candy! I live in an over 55 neighborhood and we don't have any kids come. The first year I had so much candy and gave it to the grands. We are part of a regular housing addtion and the kids all go there. So I just watched the game last night.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute card Mary, like how you did the patterned papers, and your coloring is fabulous too!
ReplyDeleteI love that cat Mary, the expression on his face is priceless!! We don't get any visitors at Halloween as we are quite remote and our Lane is spooky enough to scare the life out of any little trick or treaters!! xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute Halloween card! I love cute pumpkins and the kitty is darling! Happy Halloween!

Your punkin cards in this post and the last one are so cheery and cute, Mary! I really enjoyed seeing pictures from the "estate," too!! Happy November 1st to you! I hope it's a good month and I'm with you, I hope next year is a complete BORE! You've had enough stress this year to last a few years!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteToo funny...that kitty looks like he/she ate too much Halloween candy! We just got back from a week away, and we feel sort of like that today! What a cute card, my friend. Hope that you enjoyed your trick or treaters this year, and that you had plenty of treats for them. We never get any kids where we live, and really miss that! Thanks for sharing, and for checking in on me - I miss seeing your smiling face! Sorry I've been MIA too - long story, but it's been a very busy summer and fall, filled with doc appts., and travels. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteLet's definitely hope for less stress (and more candy???) next year. I like your spooky-not-so-spooky Halloween card with its silly kitty and different patterns in the back.
ReplyDeleteWe had way more candy than what was needed for the 15 or so people we got by the house but we do enjoy it and enjoy decorating. I can take the leftovers to work and my coworkers will gladly eat it.... just not this week. They claim to be all candied out but they will be back in form by next week I don't doubt.
I'm loving that cat image, Mary. It makes me laugh. We got quite a few kids trick or treating yesterday. They were mostly little ones, not many teens this year. We gave away all but three pieces, then turned off the lights. I won't even open the door on Halloween unless my hubby is home, which he usually is. It is fun to see the little ones all dressed up. Virtually every child said thank you and lots even said Happy Halloween. So around here it seems that manners are back in style. We are having cold weather. I had to put the liner back in my rain coat. Enjoy the rest of the week!
ReplyDeleteI just love the cat on your card. He made me smile. We have sweets at the ready each year but have had no callers for the last couple of years. Seems to be a very regional thing herd in the UK. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute card.
ReplyDeleteSweet image and I love that little spider hanging out :)
This card really gave me such a big smile. I love the expression on the face of the cat. Just fabulous! x
ReplyDeleteI did go over to my cousin's house and help give out candy as I so love seeing the little ones all dressed up. I don't get any trick or treaters out where I am. Some parents are pretty good about making their kids say thank you, but some are not! Some parents were trick or treating for themselves I felt like as their child was only a baby and I would make a comment asking if the baby was going to gum the candy. Guess I shouldn't have said that but it came out before I knew it! But it was the answer the parent gave me that got my goat and that was that they were getting the candy for themselves. Really?!!! Takes all kinds I guess, all I know is times have sure changed. Such a cute card Momma Mary, I love the papers you used and I love those adorable pumpkins! I didn't get any Halloween cards sent out either. sigh Maybe next year. Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fun card Mary.
