Thank You
Good afternoon and Happy Memorial Day. I just wanted to take a quick moment to say a heartfelt "Thank You" to any member of the military service who may visit here.Likewise to those bloggers who visit & who have family members who served our country. It is an awesome sacrifice of years of their lives - and truly sometimes their lives - given so that we can enjoy the freedoms we do today. This freedom has come at a huge price.
In my immediate family, my Dad, my 5 brothers & my DH - all served in various branches of the military (with the Navy being strongly represented). In succeeding generations some of the grandsons have also been part of the military. While it was a sacrifice of their lives & time, it's also very difficult to be the ones waiting at home. You wonder if they are safe, and pray that they will be. And miss them terribly, while being so proud they are doing their duty.
So today is a fitting time to take a moment & just say Thank You to a Vet, (or indeed, anyone who has served our country's freedoms in some way). And to remember all those who didn't get to come home to their loved ones.
God Bless & Hugs

Happy Memorial Day to you too Mary. Where would we be without the dedicated men and women who serve their country and put their own lives before others. I salute each and every one of them. Enjoy the rest of your Day. Hugs from Scotland. Rita xxxxx
ReplyDeleteHappy Memorial Day Mary, the USA pay more tributes to their service men and women than we do here. Yes we have Poppy Day but we still don't stop and think or thank those who are still serving this country and treat the service men and women as second class people, my husband serve 22 years so I know what it's like to have a loved one away for months on end, then again he was away for months on end when he left the army and his work took him all over the country and world. ReplyDeleteWell said Mary, and a very happy Memorial day to you as well! I hope you're feeling better by now with those allergies.
ReplyDeleteWe just visited our parent's graves today and I was a bit miffed to see that my dad's grave *navy veteran of WWII * did not have a flag inserted in the proper metal holder. That was a huge bummer :(
Such a lovely tribute Mary to all those who served. My brother has just retired from the Canadian Navy and my dad fought in India and South Africa in WW2 (although he never talked about it). It is May holiday here today but it is not such an important day. Hugs, Anne xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Mary. Tell your DH I said thank you as well.
ReplyDeleteHappy Memorial Day Mary and well said. We have our Remembrance Day in November and I think we should be thankful that we have brave men and women willing to take these risks to keep us safe. It would be great if it were never necessary in the first place, but I think that unfortunately things are not about to change any time soon. Hope your allergies are better and that your weekend was a good one. x
