Christmas Club - Trees

Happy Sunday and thanks for joining me. Today is the bi-monthly Christmas Club Challenge (or as my British friends say fortnightly) and the lovely Sylvie selected the theme of Trees - anywhere on a card. So here's what I chose to create:

- Background is a sprayed piece, actually sort of a left over experimental piece when I was working with some gold sprays and some green sprays that I had made using acrylic paint (a note of warning about that at the end of the post)*. Embossed with the C/B EF Christmas Ribbons.

- WorldWin textured paper die cut with S/B A2 Card Creator Filigree Delight.

- Christmas Tree EF on green paper, fussy cut out the tree shape so that it could be mounted on foam tape for some dimension. Sprayed with a gold spray and then added gold pearls for decorations.

- Star was from glitter paper using a tiny punch.

- Elizabeth Craft sentiment using a snippet of gold paper.

This card did not finish as had been envisioned at the beginning of the process. But I rather liked the end result after all. The Christmas Club members are listed on the blog sidebar, so if time allows, check out their tree creations. I assure you, the time will be well spent.

For all of you who liked the front porch, you're welcome to set a spell anytime, swing or rock as you prefer. Right now, the best time to enjoy the space is late evenings, around dusk. When it cools off, any part of the day is a good time to sit there, read or drink something, visit with a neighbor who comes by, or just watch the world go by. Our neighbors have some lovely trees that the birds really like. (They also love the white bannisters on the porch too. They seem to think it is a bulls-eye target just for their own personal enjoyment!)

Thanks for joining me today, and lots of cyber hugs.''

*The thickened acrylic paint that I had mentioned, that got mixed with some water & put in a spray bottle, can cause some clogging of the nozzle. Especially if not used frequently and the residue stays in the tiny spray opening. And especially if that paint has some glitter product added to the paint for shimmer. Just thought I'd make that report. I'm soaking a cap to try to clear it right now.

  1. Hi Mary, I'm finally back. Your embossed and mounted tree is a beauty. Such a pretty card. I really like that die cut frame, too, behind it.

Oh, I went back and checked out your front porch and the back, too. It looks like a wonderful and very pretty place to park in the early mornings and late afternoons.

I may try my geranium in the garage this year. Yours looks beautiful. I have kept ferns in there before. Some winters are too hard for mine and some aren't.

  8. I love your beautifully embossed card. The Ef's you have used are so richly decorated. Our neighbour had a lovely tree that the birds love to sit in that is until he hacked it to pieces(he is that kind of gardener. Weeds get pulled out and left on the lawn and then he wonders why he has brown patches) We have a blackbird that regulary visits the garden now that The Whimps is no longer around. He has taken to leaving his calling card on my front lawn which is fine till I go to pick it up thinking I have daises! Hugs Mrs A.

  13. Gorgeous card! One of the reasons I don't do sprays is because of how they clog up! Anything with sparkle or shimmer in always clogs up so I no longer buy them - less stressful that way! You have been busy with your Crimbo cards Mary. Have a lovely week Karen x

Do hope the nozzle cleans up for you.

  19. What a lovely card, Rita. Honestly, I see nothing wrong with it. The embossing looks perfect and the colouring is spot on! We enjoy sitting in the front porch in the evenings too... with a gin & tonic in hand ... it's what we love most about summer.

  23. What a pretty Christmas card Mary and I love the Filigree Delight die in the background as well as that lovely sprayed background over the Holly Ribbons EF. I have that one too and have used it quite a lot over the last couple of years or so. I really need some new stamps to kick start my Christmas makes, but am trying to come up with something for Rudolph Day and haven't got much time left! x

  24. I am loving that sprayed background Momma Mary, so pretty are those colors!! I also love the embossing on this card, so much texture without much effort, my kind of work. lol That tree is just gorgeous as is the mat you have it on. Love, love this card! I have the same problem with my white bannisters on the pool deck, the birds (Robin's mostly) love making it their bulls-eye for their personal enjoyment. A pita for sure!! lol I hope your spray nozzle soaks clean and works again for you. Hugs, Brenda

  27. So many beautiful touches on this card. The ef's are wonderful and the tree looks fabulous.

I am drooling over that fab die behind the tree...it is so lovely!

I am afraid of my sprays. I have some but have not used them other than the shimmer one. Wish I lived next door...you could teach me a thing of ten!
