Afternoon, and welcome. It's time again for our Christmas Card Club challenge, and our theme of Poinsettias was chosen by our sweet Hostess, Margaret. I'm running a little behind in my post but here I am...I hope when you leave Carolina Cards, you'll have time to check out all the Club members who are listed in the sidebar, & take a look at what each member has shared today. Let's get going:
- PSX image (K1519) bought some years ago from eBay. Stamped first in Black Tuxedo, didn't like it, flipped over the c/s - restamped in Rich Cocoa, liked it better. Of course it's colored with copics, but you knew that, right??? Used the Slicca gold Pentel pen to add some highlights on the greenery, which shows up quite nicely IRL. White gel pen on the pine cones, Orange WoS on the stamens.
- Die cut with S/B Label 25. Edged with DI Pine Needles - barely. Just wanted a smidgen of color.
- Authentique 6x6 Festive papers...I think this is one of my fav Authentique packs.
- old braid from the stash - VOS.
- Sizzix TH 660058 die set for the sentiment...2 white layers, then a gold snippet layer. After seeing the photo, realized the focal piece needed to be moved up just a little. It's mounted over the braid - which is a bit thick, with double pieces of foam tape, so wasn't difficult to 'unstick' and move up.
This braid _is_ thick, so rather than have a 'hump' where the top & bottom pieces are glued to the cardbase, I added a thin piece of fun foam under the dp, cut just a bit smaller. Then mounted the fun foam to the card base. I've seen Jennifer McGuire doing this in some Youtubes, and think it worked well for a smoother look.
Thanks for joining me on this Sunday afternoon, where March 1 came in like a Lamb. Always heard that if March came in like a Lamb (quietly) it would be roaring out like a Lion (windy/stormy). We have had rain, but don't think we got the ice that was predicted. I'm happy with that! So please come again when you have time, and do take time to visit my fellow Christmas Card Club Members for some wonderful inspiration. Big Hugs
Your colouring is awesome, Mary ... there's so much depth and dimension in this gorgeous basket of poinsettia ... fabulous detailing! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteHi Mary that is a lovely stamp...I was always going to buy that one if I saw it one bay...I have all the PXS catalogues from over the years! your card is lush,so vibrant and colourful...fabulous xxx
ReplyDeleteFabulous card Mary. Love those poinsettias, and coloured so beautifully. The backing paper and braid look lovely. I too sometimes feel that black is too harsh when I'm stamping and I often use Rich Cocoa or London Fog which give a softer appearance. Hope you are well. Hugs Christine xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Mary. It looks like a large image to do. Love your colouring.x
ReplyDeletewooooo! how GORGEOUS your coloring is, Mary, and I agree that the rich cocoa color is sublime with this image! Very warm and enchanting. LOL Very pretty card, and creative use of the braid! hugs, de

Wow, what a gorgeous card, Mary! You've coloured the poinsettias so beautifully! This is really eye-catching! I love the die-cut word too!
ReplyDeleteWow, gorgeous!! Saw these vibrant colors in my feed and had to stop on over and leave you a little blog love. Your coloring is amazing and I love how you've stamped the image over the die cut. I always forget to do that, in my perfectly centered world. It gives the card a great natural look! (I like it outlined better in brown too)
ReplyDeleteStunning card Mary - love your colouring! I also happen to prefer stamping in rich cocoa rather than black on occasions!

Mary. You have done an amazing job of colouring your poinsettia and I love how you have made the flowers stand out. Hazel x
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunner Mary, beautifully coloured poinsettias and the paper is a perfect enhancement. I had to chuckle with the lion/lamb saying, it's a favourite of my Husband so we have been hearing it " a LOT" lately. However, yesterday was glorious in the morning but then we had a deluge yesterday afternoon (while I was outside doing some fencing I might add!!) so we shall have to wait and see what happens come April!! xx
ReplyDeleteWow Mary what a beautiful card that basket of Poinsettia's are stunning, superb make.

My goodness Mary your colouring is wonderful. I thought it was a pre coloured digi! Was running late with my entry too. February just went woosh straight past my house. March is following in hot pusuit too!! hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteOh Mary your card is gorgeous, I love everything about it. The image is beautiful and your colouring is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteMarch is a bit lionish for us here, it's trying hard to snow. Hugs Kate x
Oh my Momma Mary, this is a stunning card! I love that basket of poinsettia's and you have it colored so realistic looking. Love your mat and papers too. I have been seeing Jennifer McGuire doing this with foam as well and it does work nicely. We got snow as well as the freezing rain. Have been out chipping away at it here and there. To hard and back breaking to do it all at once, at least for me it is. I decided to let the sun help me out! lol Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful Poinsettias Mary, beautiful colouring, a really fabulous card.

What a beautiful poinsettia bouquet, Mary! And as always, you've colored it beautifully! A beautiful die shape to show it off too! We had freezing rain and then lots of rain. We were wondering if it was considered that March came in like a lion or not. Guess we'll have to wait until the 31st to find out! We had beautiful sunshine today!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful poinsettia image, you're right, it looks great stamped with brown ink. Your coloring is fantastic and good job fitting in a sentiment as well. Always the trickiest part, in my opinion:)
