Christmas Card Club - Snowy Trees

Hello and welcome to another Christmas Card Club Sunday.  Christine of Christine's Cards and Crafts is our challenge hostess today, and Christine wanted to see Snowy Trees. Our Christmas Card Club is a group of ladies who make Christmas cards all year long, share our cards every 2 weeks -  and each of us has a chance to decide on that week's challenge. If you are interested in having fun with our group, please let me know, and I can provide the contact info for joining our little group.

On to the card:

- Penny Black Snowy Grove cling stamp was placed on the Misti, inked with Hero Arts Gray, stamped onto white cardstock. Stamping was not as dark as desired, so reinked with Memento Northern Pine (a green), restamped...that's the beauty of the Misti. The 2nd stamping was exactly perfect over the gray, with no smudges. Cleaned the stamp, reinked with versamark, moved the cardstock just a smidge, stamped a 3rd time to create a 'shadow'. Heat embossed with SnS Detail White, to get the snowy trees. In the photo, it's a bit hard to see the dark shadow, but IRL it shows nicely.

- Polychromos blue pencils to color the sky background. This was not dark enough, so then sponged over all with DI Chipped Sapphire. This looked more like the dark night sky I was going for. Burnished with a paper towel to clean the DI off the white trees.

- added a clear bird sticker, which was embossed with a red Ritz Glitter.

- white gel pen to emphasize the falling snow flakes, then added Stickles Star Dust over some of the flakes, which sparkles quite nicely. Also some Star Dust on the ground snow as well.

- Silver mirror mat, navy blue card base.  - Sentiment sticker...it's done.

While hunting through the sticker box, came across an old page of PBlack stickers, and there was a snowy tree scene. Easy to make up another card with the same supplies.

- Penny Black sticker, backed with silver mirror mat, then a pale blue glitter mat and topped onto a navy card base.

- added a few stickers from the sentiment sticker page, some Star Dust stickles, and another one for the stash.

Please do check out my fellow CCC members, whose links are on the right hand side bar. You'll enjoy their snowy trees inspiration and get some good ideas.

Thanks for joining me today. Hope you are having a Blessed Sunday. Big hugs.

  1. Wowzsrs! That stamped forest on blue background looks so dimensional and textured and just love the tiny bit of red from the cardinal. A fantastic design, Mary! I've been telling myself I don't need a Misti, I'm not so sure now...

  3. Wow, your shadow stamping looks absolutely super on this card. I busted a gut to get a misti and have used it only a few times. I see there is a baby misti out now as well. Love your second card which looks equally as duper. Love the penny black stickeroos. Have loads of those I rarely use. So much to do and try ,not enough hours either daytime or twilight. Hugs Mrs A.

  16. It didn't take you very long to master the Misti, and oh my goodness, what lovely cards you've created!! I LOVE the first one with that beautiful blue color and the red cardinal right smack dab in the middle of the frozen forest! What a lovely scene! I really like the more subtle blue color of the 2nd one as well, and that mirror card makes both images pop! Beautiful Mary, just simply beautiful!

  28. Wow Mary, love the look you achieved on that first card! I finally got a Misti a couple of weeks ago (yet to be used). It worked perfectly on this card I see! Great idea, nice to know you can just go right on over something, if it's not to your liking! Your signature cardinal is perfect for that "pop" of color amidst the snowy trees!
