- sky background airbrushed using a plastic cloud template, & various shades of Blue Violet, Blue, Bluegreen, in the 0000 & 000 shades. Finally sponged some DI blues in the corners to create a bit more depth.
- Sue Wilson tree dies cute from a snippet of dark green, added brushable glue once these were in place. Over the wet glue, sprinkled polar white flower soft (much of which has fallen off! I have the WORST luck with that stuff! I did press gently into place and let it dry too). Added some star dust stickles because the flower soft was such a disappointment as snow.
- Inkadinkadoo Snowman - stamped with Memento London Fog, colored with copics. Paper pieced his scarf, applied glossy accents on his vest, and some star dust stickles rubbed around his snowy tummy and hat.
- torn strips of American Crafts glitter paper for the snowy ground, then added star dust for ice.
- Impression Obsession deer cut from a velvet texture brown dp. His hooves have some stickles around his hooves.
Left off a sentiment --will decide as needed whether this will be a 'for winter' or 'for Christmas' card.
Hope that other folks have better luck with Flower Soft than I do. The flower soft glue is in a container that I fight with to try to squeeze the glue out. (store it upside down in a jar as directed in a class I took on Flower Soft. Have tried other glues - thick ones, thin ones. This time was a SnS Brushable glue, sprinkled the F/Soft the wet glue, pressed & let it dry. The stuff still fell off. I get very discouraged when trying to use this product. Be interested in hearing about your experiences with it or suggestions to make it less frustrating. It's so pretty if it works properly).

Hi Mary what a super snowman and your paper peiceing is great....love those SW trees...I gave up on flower soft glue and bought doocrafts dries white and that works well for me.....enjoy the rest of Sunday...O have been out to a craft show...spent too much and home to watch the final at Wimbledon and now in bed nursing a horrible summer cold...ah well hugs xxxxxx

Your snowman really pop out from the scene and the paper pieced scarf adds other dimension on it, with a fabulous 3D look!Beautiful winter background with the superlight blue and the snowy trees. The deer adds a cute feel, love it!

You've created a wonderful snowy scene Mary! I have never tried using flower soft myself, but it does look very pretty. I was given some by a friend (she had stopped using it, maybe because of the problems you mentioned, I didn't ask her). I have never gotten round to trying it out! Have a wonderful week my friend! ReplyDeleteI have no trouble with flower soft falling of.
I use PVA DRIES WHITE GLUE.. for my snow and adding Fowersoft ect.. put it on thick..wiggle lines to look like snow, sounds like you are being to sparc with you glue..so it will not hold anything but glitter..

ReplyDeleteSomeone told me once to stop PVA glue congealing in the nozzle, making it difficult to squeeze out, store upside down with a small lump of Blu-tack stuck over the end of the nozzle. No idea if it works, but it might be worth a try with the Flower Soft glue. xx
Love your snowy, winter scene with the adorable snowman and deer. I have trouble getting the flower soft glue out too! If I get enough, most of it seems to stay on. The air turns blue getting that glue out though!

Wow, this card is just beautiful Momma Mary! I love the scene you have created and I adore that snowman. I wish I could get the look of depth on a card like you have done here. You have a hit on your hands with this one!! I gave up on flower soft glue a long time ago with the RA in my hands. I just use whatever glue I have on hand. Sounds like you might be putting your glue on to thin though, try just squeezing it on and leaving it thick. I have also heard of some people laying a scrap piece of paper on top of the glue and flower soft and running it through they Big Shot or Cuttlebug. Hope some of the tips everyone has given helps you out with it. Flower Soft is so pretty, but not the easiest to work with! lol Hugs, Brenda

ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Mary. Love the sweet snow scene you've created. The trees look great with the flower soft snow ... at least some of it stuck and it looks great. I use Tombow glue to stick my flower soft down and it usually works pretty well for me, but I have to be patient and make sure it is completely dry, then brush off any "extra" loose bits on top. xx

ReplyDeleteMy solution to Flower Soft is to get rid of the stuff. It worked wonders for me! I had all the same problems. I received a fabulous Christmas card made with it once. By the end of the Christmas season it had all flaked off. So, it isn't just us!
Great card and love the vintage looking snowman-I use soft snow on my cards same as flower soft-I have had the big jar for about three years and it keeps growing as I use it lol I use Anita's tacky glue and just make sure I press it down to make sure it sticks
