Happy Saturday afternoon, and welcome. It's an overcast cool & breezy day here at our house. Yesterday morning we had some good steady soaking rain - which made a nice change of weather pace. Mr. is off to an all day vintage car show with a neighbor. So things are very much quieter than usual around the place. Our daughter's birthday is next week, and I've worked on this card for a bit. Did 3 attempts...the best was my first effort, but then I did my usual...add just one more little thing. Which in this case, was a silvery sheen spray made of white perfect pearls and water. I shook it well, but it still splodged. First here's the finished card..which was the third effort, and after it got finished, I didn't touch it again, until I added the sentiment after I had trimmed it out & matted it.
- Whispers wooden stamp - fairly large, so used the Bonnie's Best stamp press to get a crisp clear image. Colored with copics, some WoS after coloring. The first effort on this image, had more intense colors. I just selected various shades of greens for the leaves and had some good shading going on. On the flower, I used RV & BV colors, and on the first go-round, I was very happy with the results. (I'll share the photos of the 3 tries). Trimmed out portions of #2 - which had a background boo-boo, and did a little stylus work with some leaves, the hummer's head and a couple of the petals. Doesn't show in the photo, but looks quite nice IRL.
- on the background, in places just did scribbles with the 0000 colors of BG, YG and R. In other places tried to do the Pointilissim (dots) technique...which I don't do very well.
- Sentiment is the large font from HLS Bold Birthday Sentiments and on the inside - the smaller Birthday from that set is stamped on the top edge, with a nice verse on the bottom half of the insert. Used Memento Elderberry used for the sentiment & verse.
- black glitter paper for a skinny mat, and a light purple textured Bazzil for thecard base.
Thanks for joining me this afternoon. I hope your weekend is off to a great start, and please do come back again soon. Hope to have something to post tomorrow for the September Rudolph Day Challenge. In the meantime, Hugs & Blessings.

I'm sorry you had a frustrating time whilst making this but the finished card is just beautiful and the colouring is first class. I'm sure your DD will be so thrilled with this. I think we put too much pressure on ourselves when the card is for a loved one as we want it to be perfect for them, but each of your attempts are really pretty but you have to be satisfied with the finished result too, and I would be exactly the same. x

I Hate when I have to do something more than once. But usually I am happy with the results. But I always think it's important to get it right. This is gorgeous. I love hummingbirds and I am sure our hummers are missing us this weekend although they should be heading south here very soon. Your card really made me smile today. Thanks!

What a beautiful card Mary and fantastic colouring.
ReplyDeleteWhat a glorious end result, it really is a beautiful card, worth all the effort and mistakes!
ReplyDeleteGood thing you didn't give up, the image and card are gorgeous! I'm sure this image isn't for my coloring skill level, I usually struggle with flowers and if I were to color a humming bird I would need to look up photos on the web to know what colors to use. But your card turned out perfect. Btw, I've made the same mistake with glimmer mist myself, so annoying when it ruins an image you're happy with.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Mary. What a fantastic stamp. Barbxx
