Mother's Day Watercolor

To all my blog buddies in the USA...don't think Mother's Day is celebrated on the same day in other countries. So far ours has been pleasant and quiet. Mr. had my breakfast, coffee and a pretty card waiting when I got up. He proceeded to sit out in the porch swing, so I took my food and went out to enjoy the sunshine, blooming things and green trees that are in our neighborhood at present. I felt like I could 'smell the green'. Mr didn't smell a thing he said.

Been trying to finish up some cards  using bits and pieces of things I'm finding in the Crapalanche, or else in bins-boxes that are setting around. Many I'd forgotten having done. This is another Art Impression watercolor image I discovered. The mat color and background paper were in another box, and thought these looked pretty together. Not a great card, but an ok one. Good for another birthday, or whatever I might need it for, when a verse is added to the inside.

The stamps are all wooden Art Impression ones. Pot was stamped, colored with Tombow markers for the watercoloring, then other flower stems are added to the pot. Then the image was grounded with a little shadow under. (Art Impressions' Bonnie Krebbs has some good youtube videos showing her style of using these stamps).

- Stitched rectangle (either Lawn Fawn or MFT...don't remember) to cut the shape...burgundy red Bazzil trimmed to fit as a mat. Some Recollections DP - VOS...on a top fold card.

- PTI Hugs sentiment die cut from the same mat color using a single layer. Called it done. This one was pretty fast to come together...all the papers just seemed to float to the surface without a lot of 'hunting for the right thing'.

Thanks for all the sweet comments on the stencil embossing card...so appreciated.

Ya'll enjoy the remainder of the day, and if you're celebrating Mother's Day, sure hope your family is there to enjoy it with you, OR will be with you at a later time. Hugs, and come again when you can set a spell (that's what we say here in the South!).

  6. It sounds like an idyllic day you had swinging on the porch with Mister. I know what you mean about smelling green when everything looks fresh and green and we know summer is on the way. Spring is my favourite time of year.

Your card is lovely Mary. You know I think I have those same stamps. I've found the little pot very useful over the years, especially when I used to make lots of ATCs. Well done using stuff from your crapalanche. I'm still doing the same. I recently used up lots of already made up decoupage. Barbxx

  7. Pretty card! Glad you are having a nice peaceful day. So far, me too, Jim made supper for me, and our daughter stopped by this afternoon for a visit. (And the sun came out today, after many, many days of rain...)

  13. A very pretty card Mary, Love the flowers :-)
I think Mother's Day is on the same day worldwide, but Mothering Sunday for Anglicans/Episcopalians is different. Fathers Day in the States differs from here (NZ)

  15. Loved your card and the butterfly one too. Think you are great trying out all these new technics.
Happy Mothers Day we celebrated on Sunday too. I won the Mother's day raffle at the aged care home with a ticket that our son bought so I rang him and left a message thanking him for the present. Mystified he rang me back and I really kept him on a string before I told him it was a ticket he bought that won me the prize. Anyway enjoy your day.

  31. I love the look of this, it really does look like a watercolour painting. We celebrated Mothering Sunday here in the Uk in Lent. It still retains it's religious origins to some extent although increasingly people are referring to it as Mother's Day instead of Mothering Sunday - actually two very different concepts! Glad you had a good day celebrating.

  40. Beautiful image and how nicely colored! I sure got a spell today- taking it easy and sleeping it alot! We are going to folks home to 'clean it out' to put it on the market, so getting my brain ready for the task at hand. Had a quiet Mother's Day- heard form all of the kids and hubby and one daughter cooked out for dinner.
