Happy New Year - Welcome 2017

Good Morning, and Welcome to 2017!!!! As you are reading this, we'll be in the pickup heading north - leaving the warm sunshine for chilly Upstate South Carolina. We've heard there will be some rain, which does not fill me with delight. Traffic is crazy enough when the roads are dry, but when it's wet, tires can slide....etc etc.

I just wanted to take a moment to wish all my wonderful Blog Buddies a very healthy, happy, and hopefully, a prosperous coming year. I know that some of my friends are dealing with some Life issues;  I pray that you will be given the strength to endure, & that comfort to your heart will be sent as well - as you face whatever Life is dealing you just now. I'm so thankful for each one of you that visits here. Let's have a Crafty 2017 as part of our New Year's goals.

It may be a couple days before I post again. I'm always a bit 'down' when we have to say goodbye to the Daughter. Doubt that will ever change....But.... I do get over it eventually. I also find that it seems to be a bit of a 'let-down' after all the holiday excitement; I don't remember feeling so, when I was much younger. Does that happen to you too?

Big Hugs. Come again when you can. God Bless

  1. Happy New Year to you and hubby and have a safe trip home. It is hard to say goodbye to our loved ones. At least we can keep in touch by so many electronic means. I am a phone person. Text and emails are fine for a quick communication. But if you want a conversation I think it is better to pick up the phone. Hope 2017 is wonderful with good health and crafty days. Come back and see us when you feel up to it. Hugs to you my friend.

  5. Hi Mary, I hope your journey is going well and that you reach home safely. I hate saying goodbye at the end of holidays/visits too. I hope you soon settle down again and find your crafting mojo. I look forward to seeing your new creations soon.
I am hoping to be better organised this year and get back to more blogging, I have been very lax lately.
Wishing you and your husband a Happy New Year

  6. Have a safe trip home. It is raining cats and dogs here in the UK. Have spent today taking the decorations down and now the inside of the house looks as dismal as the weather. I hate Janurary's. Hope you have a truly great New Year. Hugs Mrs A.

  7. I think when we were kids, Christmas went on after the day as you had whatever you'd received to still play with. Hopefully no other worries, like adults have these days.

Happy New Year Mary. Hope your journey home wasn't too bad and you soon feel happier.

  8. A Happy New Year to you as well Mary and my thanks for your friendship during 2016.

Hope your journey home is not too tedious in the rain - we've had rain all day here as well.

  12. Yes I certainly can relate to your feeling Mary but hey ho we have to get on and while I am lucky to still have one Daughter and her Family close by it must be harder for you.
Hope the drive home has gone well and a very Happy New Year to you and your Hubby.

  13. I, too, can get a let down after the holidays and actually even a bit fearful which is silly and I do snap out of it. The best thing is it sounds like you had a beautiful time during the holidays and enjoyed your visit with your daughter. I'm thinking a journal of your times together would be a great thing to do and get through the doldrums. I still enjoy my Christmas music and am sitting in my library listening to it, enjoying the tree and decorations. May you have a beautiful year and whatever changes occur may we feel inspired by them instead of feeling downtrodden. Much health and happiness to you.

  17. Hi Mary,
Happy New Year to you too.
I do hope you have a safe journey.
I have had family staying over Christmas and part of the New Year.
Yes I get wuite down when they go, and the house seems so empty, and I feel lost for a few days.
Their visits seem to go so quick too.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

  18. Happy New Year Mary. Wishing you safe travels. It's always difficult to leave families. The holidays are often the only times we get to see them and spend time together. My youngest will be leaving today. He's heading for a new life in Boston. He and his wife are moving from Pensacola to Boston and starting a new job there next week. It's going to be tough saying goodbye to him to as he drives 15 hours. I hope the new year brings you health, happiness and lots of crafty time!

  20. I know how you feel Mary and it is a year since we saw our DS as he was with us this time last year, so Christmas was a very quiet affair this year, but we speak a lot so treat that as a positive. It is always difficult on parting but hopefully it won't be too long before you see DD again. Personally it is good to be starting a new year and I look forward to all the creativity in this lovely community we have here during the coming year. x

  21. Happy New Year to you too Mary! I think that all the crazy build up to Christmas and then travel on top, plus all the excitement of seeing family... is bound to make you feel a little down afterwords. For us over here, the short dull days don't do a lot to inspire either! I hope you had a good journey home and the rain was only fleeting.... Hugs, Anne xx

  22. Happy New Year Momma Mary, so glad you are home safe and sound. I am like you when it comes to the weather and traveling. Yes, leaving a loved one is always sad and I used to be the same way. Don't really go anywhere much so I don't have those feeling often. And with you having only one child, I'm sure that makes the feelings that much stronger!!! The holidays, well they have just become depressing for me know without Dwayne. I hate changes, but changes come whether we like them or not! So I go with the flow, whatever that is. I pray that your "blues" pass fast this go around Momma Mary. Big hugs, Brenda

  23. Happy new year, Mary and safe travels home!! It is always so hard to say goodbye to loved ones after the holiday celebrations. Plus, it seems like you build up to Christmas all year and then suddenly it's gone...it is a let-down when it's over. I hope you are feeling better soon. Big hugs sweet friend :)

  25. Wishing you a happy and healthy New Year Mary.
It does seem rather dull after all of the festivities and when the decorations are taken down - it must be sad for you when your daughter leaves.

  30. Enjoy your down time. I do think we feel things more emotionally speaking, as we age.
I think perhaps it is just the wisdom that comes with aging that contributes to us feeling this way. We know we will miss the person. so our bodies shut down a bit to help process it!

  31. Wishing you and the hubby safe travels. It's wonderful that you are still able to get down to your daughter. You've always got next year to look forward to. Best wishes for a happy, healthy and extra crafty 2017!

  33. I trust you are safely home now, Mary. I can relate to how you were feeling as you wrote this post. Our youngest just flew back to his home a few hours ago. It was fun being with him for the holidays. I'm a bit down now that he's gone. I'm sure we'll both be back to ourselves in a day or two. Happy crafting in 2017!

  35. Hi Mary, happy new year to you too. I have treated myself to a new laptop which runs a different version of windows than my desktop and has a slightly different layout to the keyboard so I am getting to grips with it. At least I have now managed to find blogger and add the blogs I follow!
I pray that 2017 will be a good year for you inspite of all the unease and unrest there is in the world. Take care.
