Hi and thanks for stopping by. We got back from sunny Florida mid-week; our traveling pal wanted to head back north. He left sunshine in Florida, warm weather in South Carolina, arriving to snow in Massachusetts! What a change of weather in just 2 days....
While away, I worked on some St. Pat's images, and plan to hunt out some Easter stamps, so I don't have a boring repeat of what I did for Valentine's Day. I'll try to intersperse some Easter and St. Pat's (won't have that many St Paddy's I think), and perhaps some other motifs.... But here's a card I finished - finally.
This is my favorite of all the St Pat's (as well as Art Impressions stamps) of any I own. This little guy is such fun to color. His cross eyes always make me grin each time I color him, and his expression is just precious. Used a Penny Black Antique Frame rectangle, distressed the edges with DI. Worked again on my cloud skills for the background.
Some old DP from the stash, Impression Obsession Shamrock dies (2 layers, colored white snippets with green copic, then Luna Metallic Green, then WoS Christmas green).
Sentiment is VOS - stamped years ago when I was going to a stamp group. Borrowed a stamp and did a bunch on some card stock. Hand cut it, gave the shamrock some more green (this was in the pre-Misti days so not a great inking)...edged the outer bit with the same green as the little leprechaun, and hey, that's it. I have a niece-in-law who is 100% Irish, and I think she will enjoy this little guy.
Added some new Valentine cards to the Cards by Friends page, which I hope you'll take time to enjoy. These arrived the evening just before our trip, and are so lovely.
We have had some gorgeous sunshine & warm weather the past couple of days. Even got in a little porch time. I'm sure we'll get another frosty blast before Spring officially arrives, but in the meantime, we're enjoying the balmy days.
Come again when you have time. God Bless and many hugs.
No wonder he is your favourite Mary such a cheeky cutie......love your background and die cuts.....
ReplyDeleteWe have the beast from the east hitting us this weekend and snow expected from Monday...so much for spring!....enjoy the rest of the weekend xxxx
LOVE LOVE this little character, such a great card Mary, I love his crossed eyes and the background.
ReplyDeleteGlad you have some barmy days and enjoying porch time. We are in for a "blast from the East". Siberian cold is making its way to us from tomorrow, we have been warned of it all week. In the meantime we have gloriously blue skies and sun and coldish.
Have a good Sunday and week.
Faith

ReplyDeleteHi Mary, Glad you didn't come home to much lower temperatures thatn Florida. We are in a very cold snap with temps staying below freezing day and night for the week at least. Snow forecast tomorrow afternoon and then Tuesday and Wednesday. Tomorrow the highest temperature will be -5, but most of the day it's -6 or -7.
ReplyDeleteCard is lovely.
Hope you have a nice day and a lovely week. Sue

ReplyDeleteThat sweet leprechaun certainly makes you smile Mary, and you have coloured him beautifully, also the shamrocks and pretty green paper suit him perfectly. Glad you had a great time in Florida and that the weather is being kind to you at the moment, letting you acclimatise to being back in slightly cooler climes, harder for your friend though, going back to snow! x
ReplyDeleteMary, your coloring is just beautiful. The shading is perfect. When I saw this card my first thought was that I know him. He looks like someone on TV but I can't think of who! This really is adorable.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are safely home, Mary! Sounds like a relaxing time in the sun! Isn't this weather amazing for February? The birds, flowers and trees all seem to think spring has arrived! Love this Leprechaun! He does have a fun expression. I got the shamrock die after seeing it here last year and need to think of a way to use it now.

This is cute and love the layering and all the green. You coloured Mr. Weaver so well. I call him that because he reminds me of the old man from Hollywood Squares
ReplyDeleteHe is a cute little leprechaun isn't he? Those crossed eyes make me smile everytime too! I love the coloring you did too, and all those shamrocks with a 4 leaf clover spell good luck in a big way! So glad you had a fun trip and made it home safely too! Now send some warm southern sunshine up north for a day or two please? LOL After 4 solid days of rain, I feel like a drowned duck! LOL

ReplyDeleteHope you had a good time in Florida. We could do with a bit of warmth here in the UK. Temperature are dropping this week with the chance of snow by the weekend. xx

How nice for you to have some porch time. I hope it holds. We have been in a deep freeze here. I had to bring all my planters inside as my primroses were freezing. Peeled off half the leaves but the rest seem to have survived. We now have had a couple days of milder weather but not long enough to melt the snow yet. We have predictions that it will drop again in temp and lots more snow coming. this is very unusual for us here. Usually we are done with snow by now and starting to work in the garden!
ReplyDeleteYour card is fab. The is one great image! I just make two St Patricks Day card for my girls but must gt cracking on with them. Luckily easter ones are finished!
The sentiment is great and I love those shamrock dies. I do not own any but if I will go to the 2 paper craft stores that are 5 minutes from me, I can use their dies for free if I buy a sheet of green card from them. That is my plan so far!
Hugs to you, Mary
Great St. Patty's Day card, Mary! Nice to see as there aren't a lot of them in Blogland. I'm glad you made it home safe and sound from Florida and I hope you had a wonderful time ~ it seems like only yesterday when you left to go down there!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteOooo what a super St Patrick's Day card, just an adorable image and layout, luv Sam x
ReplyDeleteHi Mary love that image and wonderful colouring as always. We have been snow bound for the last couple of days as The Beast from the East and storm Emma did battle over the West Country. We did not get as much snow as some parts but enough to confine us indoors. It is starting to thaw now and there are some slushy bits of road showing but still too slippery to drive or walk anywhere unless you have too. We are staying put with the log burner lit! Hope all is well with you.
ReplyDeleteGreat St. Patrick's day card! Awesome Leprechaun!
