Collage

Good Morning. Back with another experimental play card this morning on this scheduled post. I've been seeing some lovely cards with collages on them lately, but don't have a clue as to where to start one. Had bits & pieces of this'n'that on my desk, so got out the Mod Podge glue to give it a go. Showed this one to Mr. DH and his first comment was "It doesn't look like you". Tried again "But do you like it?"...."No, not especially. It doesn't look like what you do".

Hmmm.... well, I promised that when I started this blog, I'd post warts & all...so maybe this one is a wart!

The card has bits of a punched border done from some Dylusions spray (top right corner), leftover hearts, punched flowers, some branches stamped in black, gold sprays - and all started with a base of a torn piece of book print. Recently got an Elizabeth Craft dragonfly die, so added a bug to the mixture. The underwings were done with some snippet glitter paper, with a snippet of gold overlay as the top body. Sentiment is Elizabeth Craft die.

I read the phrase "out of my comfort zone" on blogs, and let me confess - this one really was! Will I try again with this technique? Perhaps...but I have a big learning curve first! Hey, it was fun trying anyway.

So have a wonderful afternoon. God Bless and thank you so much for all the prayers for my eye surgery. As you read this, hopefully I'll be back home. The procedure usually doesn't take long. The worst part is getting up so early. I'm his first patient of the day...which is probably a good thing.
Hugs

  1. Mary - it may not be your usual style but it certainly isn't a wart. I love it just as it is. It would also be beautiful as a background for one of your clouted images. TFS

  2. LOL! I love that "warts and all"!!!!

Also love this card. Yes, it's not something you normally do but it's sensational. Love all the different colors in it and I think it's a beautiful collage. The little red heart really added to it too.

  4. Hi Mary, it is not a wart at all! It is a brilliant first attempt and I think it is lovely - very different for you, yes, but that's the fun of crafting. Hope you will be doing it again. Hope you are well after your surgery too. Thinking of you. Hugs, Anne x

  7. I think your collage is wonderful - I see joy and a free spirit. I love mixed media - there is a freedom in the art form I don't think you get in card making.

  8. Sometimes we need to branch out and try something new. That's what keeps life, and card making, interesting. I love the colors in this and think it's lovely! Not your usual style maybe, but a fun branching out!
