Happy Little Stampers Christmas

Happy Friday! This card should have been finished & published on Wednesday evening; intentions were good, but hey, you know what they say about good intentions!

So here we go & will say right up front, this card looks much better IRL; for some reason the image & gold embossing did not photo well.

- Brusho & shaving cream* background were inspired by Kylie and here's the link to the video tutorial.
Who knew that spray starch could be such fun? Didn't have the cling wrap handy to use as it is done in the video, but _did have_ some plastic bubble wrap with 2 different sizes of bubbles. Both were right to hand, so to speak. Once I had the brusho & starch wet on the Canson Mixed Media paper, started to blot with the large bubble. Let that dry for just a moment or two - it stays fairly wet - then pressed the smaller bubbles into the wet surface. I really liked the look too. (and yay, there's another piece, that has a slightly different look). On this one, finished off with a gold spray before the piece dried completely, and that gave lots of sparkle. If you want to do something with your starch, besides using it for ironing clothes (Yuck!), try this!!! It's such fun.

- Inkadinkadoo wood block tree, inked with versamark, heat embossed with WOW gold. Transparent sentiment image placed on the finished card where I wanted it, used the Misti to stamp it, then same WOW to emboss. It was a bit hard to see if all the script got a good coat of Versamark, and that was probably the hardest part of this card. I think the sentiment did ok. Trying to decide if I like this gold as well as my favorite Ranger Queen's Gold. Think the Ranger is a brighter look, but this is quite nice too.

- Stampendous Special Delivery wooden stamp- on Copic Xpress paper - colored with Copics and a bit of WoS. Used a fine line Staedtler pen for the red berries in the wreath, and a Slicci gold Pentel to do the jingle bells on his saddle.

Off to link up at Happy Little Stampers, where there is a DT call out for the Sketch & Christmas Challenges. Join in the fun.

Be sure to check the Cards by Friends tab. Added 2 new lovely goodies for you to share with us.

As always, thanks for your time in visiting. Love reading the comments, always appreciate the feedback. Hope you're all set for a good weekend. I think ours might be a bit busy tomorrow. Hugs & Blessings.
*My BAD EDIT: This should have read Spray Starch...NOT Shaving Cream! Sorry! Thanks to those bloggers who commented on the shaving cream, which caused me to check this post!

This is so cute Mary, love the image and your fabulous background. I keep thinking I need some brushos but so far have managed to talk myself out of it as I've loads of other watercolour mediums to use up! Carol x

Your card is so pretty. You did a great job with the brushos. I watched the video and now I know what they are. Very cool product and they make such pretty blended colors. That's for the link.

Wow, that background is amazing Momma Mary! I love how it looks, your gold tree is so pretty along with the sentiment, but it is that background and your cute little postal deer that has caught my attention! I love how you have colored this cutie pie. Photo's never do cards justice, so I can imagine how beautiful this card is in person. Great way to use bubble wrap and starch. Who knew?!! I must go and watch this video now even though I don't own brusho's! I might one day! lol Hugs, Brenda

OMG what fun you have had, did you buy new shaving cream for hubby? he'll have to have new every week if you go on at this speed, love the effect you have and that little reindeer is adorable. A Fabulous card.

Definitely a much better use for spray starch than ironing. That background came out fabulous. And you did an amazing job coloring that reindeer.

Fabulous card Mary...just love that wonderful and creative background. We use shaving cream in my preschool class, my students love writing their names in it. As for spray starch, I love to iron but may need to give it a go. Thank you for the wonderful inspiration.
Congrats on making the design team at Happy Little Stampers!!!!
