Butterflies & Arches....Belatedly

Good afternoon, and hope that your weekend is off to a great start. I spent the afternoon in a Misti class in one of our local stamp/scrapbook stores instead of visiting blogs today, as I had planned. Yesterday Mr. had some medical appointments so when we got finished, he suggested taking a ride up to this place, where he likes to have lunch when I shop. I knew about this Misti class, but had not intended to take it, as I wasn't sure how much would be covered beyond what I've learned from Youtube and my own use. DH found out about it, and thought I should attend. (Hmmm...remember how I said my planned schedule often goes astray. I'm easily coaxed too, so can't blame Mr. too much).

Anyway I did get some good tips, if I can remember them by the time I go to use Misti again.

Today's card was meant to be for the Butterfly Challenge, but alas, just discovered I'm too late with the Butterflies & Arches theme. It's already moved on to another letter of the alphabet. So here is what I had done with some snippets - intending to enter the A is for Arches challenge.

- Wplus9 Flora & Fauna I Butterfly...stamped on watercolor c/s with Versafine Onyx black, heat embossed with clear EP. Colored with Zig watercolor brushes. I think this is my best w/c effort to date, as I'm pretty much rubbish with w/c techniques. Added some silver embroidery thread behind the butterfly, and adhered to a Brusho created snippet...where the outer area was used on another project. The silver thread doesn't show up all that great behind the window, though.

- white background embossed with a Couture Creations EF. MBox window die for the American Crafts copper glitter paper (has a very thin backing, so easy to die cut. Some of the glitter papers have such thick backing that they do not cut well for me). Mounted with foam over the butterfly.

- MS twig punch from green snippet  and SU punch, MS punches for the butterflies, also from Brusho snippets. Some pearls added to dress up these punch-outs and that's it.

I'm several days behind on comment visiting, so not going to jump over to the Snippets Playground (week 193 has closed anyway!). However, anytime you have some leftover bits used on your cards, DO check out the link and play along.

There's also a NBUS Challenge #5 going on...which I have been trying to find time to play along - this card has a NBUS butterfly. I'd jump over there, but I need to do some serious catchup first!!! If you can join in, there's guaranteed fun along with PRIZES!

And for heaven's sakes, don't forget about all the Challenges going on over at Happy Little Stampers. There's still time to enter some or all of these.  Kylie has some nice stamps, with a new release available soon. She has worldwide shipping too.

Have a lovely afternoon, and thanks for poppin' in. I'm off to do some blog surfing before it's time for Saturday night pizza! Big Hugs!

I love, love how you have coloured the butterfly. I have that stamp too. In fact the packet has never been opened and used so I can flutter over to Darnell's and play along. I bought the set because of the Red Cardinal in it.
Iv'e already been over to Di's to play. Hugs Mrs A.
p.s. You still have a week and bit to stick some yarn on a card! A bow is all you need to do.

  12. Stunning creation Mary. That w/c butterfly is amazing! Well done. Love the window idea too with the brusho background and little butterflies. So much detail and texture. I ordered a Misti last week and three days later a foam stamping and piercing mat arrived! I don't know how that happened. Anyway I looked back at it and figured for what I was going to use it for a repositioner would suffice - so maybe I don't need it afterall! Am I missing something?

As for our weather, (yet again) it's absolutely throwing it down, looks like someone's 'unzipped' the sky and it's all fallen out! LOL it's running down the road like a river, AND we've just put the fire on in our lounge, I'm frozen!!
