Christmas Card Club - Christmas Carol

Good morning, and here we are - another month closer to Christmas. Can you believe how fast this year has flown by? Before we start on the Christmas Card Club share, please help me welcome two lovely new followers:

April C. of Paper Lily Leaf and Alice P. of Scrap & C

Both these very talented bloggers are fairly new to Blogland, and it would be a big Happy if you have some time to pop round to say Hello. I had the pleasure of meeting both these Bloggers over at the Snippets Playground recently, and spent a nice afternoon just 'strolling' around to see all the projects they have shared. So do yourself a favor: grab a cup of something nice, and go for a 'stroll'.

There is a group of cardmakers who make Christmas Cards all year long, and share a specifically themed card every two weeks. This week the challenge theme was Christmas Carols, chosen by our sweet Rita of RMG Creations. Rita does many different kinds of crafts (makes some gorgeous boxes and wonderful handmade bears), but she always shares a wonderful card. So here is my interpretation of Christmas Carols:

- Stampendous cling stamp, We Three Kings - inked with Versamark, sprinkled some gold, red and Christmas Green glitter over each king, and heat embossed. This image was fussy cut and adhered flat to the background. Added some gold stickles on the star, along with a gold pearl for the center. The star's gold embossing did not show up as well on the blue background, so the gold stickles helped. Used a WoS pen to add some trim color on the Kings' headpieces. The gold in the center King was added with a WoS brush marker, because the open area looked too 'white'. Thought about coloring the rest of the robe, decided to just leave the embossed surface as is.

- Impression Obsession Cover a Card music background was embossed with white EP, then sprayed with various shades of Dylusions After Midnight. (Full strength, diluted with water, diluted with white). Once dried, used a small star stencil with some pearl embossing paste. (This stencil was a sweet surprise from Lynn some time ago). As you can see, the stencil has various sizes of stars, which just fit into the space where the embossing didn't get done as well ...but I liked the effect of the starry night sky. There is a navy card base but it's not showing well because of the navy background used to line the light box for the photo.

- Free font from DaFonts.com. to generate the sentiment. Printed in an orange-gold color, then used a Gold gel pen to go over the letters. This card is one that looks better IRL.

My Christmas Card Club Teammates' links are shown on the sidebar, so hope you'll have time to check out their interpretations of Rita's Christmas Club Challenge. After using the Cling Cardinal with the music background for Rudolph Day, discovered I didn't have another stamp with a Christmas Carol background, so had to put on my thinking cap while hunting through the Christmas stamps. I always love the song We Three Kings of Orient Are, so when this stamp turned up--Ah, that will work!

Have a wonderful afternoon. Thanks for coming by, and Big Hugs.

  1. Hi Mary,

Just been having a very quick catch up after demoing at a show this morning, was about to log off and this popped so had to come have a peek.

The Three Wise Men look very luxurious with their warm colours and stand our so nicely against the embossed and inked background, there's something about music scores that always pleases as a backing to a card.

  30. I´ve been absent for a while, so I am doing a quick pop around some blogs. The Kings are a good interpretation of the theme, and I love your cardinal further down. We don´t use the cardinal very often because it is not native to UK, nor to Spain, but I think they make a lovely image. Kate x
