Botanical Sympathy

Welcome, and I hope all my USA friends had a great Labor Day weekend. Ours was quiet, hot, and not a lot different from the routine of our usual days. The kids are all back in school, the weather is still hot, and perhaps by the middle of September, we might start seeing some cooler days. It cools off nicely on some evenings. One evening we watched a couple of our neighbors playing with drones..I'd never seen one close up before. Expensive toys!

Sadly, another sympathy card was needed. One of our neighbors lost her Mom last week, after a long illness. I like the Sizzix 3D Botanical folder so that's what I used for a quick (relatively speaking) card.

Inked the folder with a CTMH sea glass ink. Took a couple of inkings to get a nice even color over all of it. First try, used versamark over the raised areas, then embossed with a clear pearl WOW  EP. Didn't look so hot, so started over, and decided to leave the embossing off.

SWilson Double Stitched Rectangle die cut out the sentiment with a small frame. Used the same CTMH ink to stamp (thank goodness for the Misti) and added a few pearls, and that's it.

Ya'll have a nice day, and stay cool if the weather is hot where you are. Plan to have a couple of scheduled posts this week. Trying to get a few things caught up, and will attempt to visit the lovely folks who have left comments. Still have some birthday cards to make and need to start on the Fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving ones.

Thanks for visiting. Blessings & Hugs.

  1. What a pretty colour for a sympathy card Mary and such a clever technique to ink the folder. I really should try to be a little more adventurous with my massive EF collection!! I love the framed sentiment. The nights have been much cooler over here, which is a blessing as I am a right old misery if I don't get my eight hours beauty sleep!! The mornings are much darker. Poor Surprise has been going out in the dark on my work days, much to her disgust. Hopefully we will both soon get used to it!! xx

  2. Sorry to hear about your neighbour's mom. No matter how old you are, losing a parent is tough. This card is beautiful but unsure how you made the white embossed area..white? I love this look-so classy and beautiful. I am praying for cooler weather. It's supposed to be cooler this coming Thursday and stay cool for a while...thank heaven!

  8. WOW! This is a real beauty and it's perfectly elegant for the loss of one's mother. The color is just dreamy as well as the embossing folder, and I just love how you designed this! I'm sure the grieving family enjoyed receiving it too. It's been sweltering hot here as well, and I haven't stuck my nose out the door in 2 days. I'm SO SO grateful for my a/c and that it's been keeping us cool all summer long during this rainy, hot summer we've had! I'm looking forward to autumn with arms wide open!

  25. What a beautiful card Momma Mary! I so love that embossing folder and need to look for it. I love that color of ink you used, it is so calming and serene. The folder is so beautiful that all you need is a sentiment. I love how you did your sentiment and the tiny leaves on it. Perfection! I know your neighbor will appreciate it so much. It is hot, hot, hot here too. Mowed on Labor day and it all but made me sick. Sure zap every ounce of energy I had! lol Yes, fall temps should be coming soon. This weekend is supposed to only in the 70's, so more fall like. Hope you get those fall temps too! Hugs, Brenda

  26. This is so pretty and would be lovely for any type of card. I've learned to spritz the cardstock with water before using a 3D folder to keep it from cracking. Sea glass is a beautiful name for ink and it is a beautiful color, so soft and shows up well. This is our last day of 90 degree temps and I'm so glad. Our humidity is awful but great stamping weather.

  27. That is a gorgeous sympathy card and so well done with the embossing folder. I have to remember to implement mine more often as they seldom get used much anymore. And, the colors you chose for your card are perfect. Not too glum but just enough brightness to bring uplifting cheer. I am sure your neighbor will be so pleased you remembered her with it at her time of sorrow.
