Rudolph Day

Happy Sunday afternoon and a lovely one it is again in our area. It's so pleasant to have cooler temperatures, especially since we're so far behind on tending our yard. Neither of us can handle the heat. (Don't forget we lived in So. Fla for over 42 yrs, but we weren't as bothered by the heat then. Also we worked in the yard early or late when it was summer, and we usually had a very nice breeze as well). DH was outside all day yesterday, edging, weed-eating, spraying some of the weeds. I was out for about 3 hours, working hard - but at the end of the task, didn't seem as though I had accomplished a lot. Had a hugh yard bag full of weeds though. I'm charged with pulling the weeds around the house flower beds, as it's too hard to spray in those areas and not spritz those 'weeds' we want to keep.

Ok, just so you know, today starts Rudolph Day over at Stamping for Pleasure. I realized we are heading into the 9th month of the year, so this is a good motivator to work on some more Christmas cards. So why not join us - submit your Christmas creation,  maybe win a cute stamp, and add one more card to your December stash?

Here's mine:

- stamp is labeled N227, Peter Penguin, JRL Design Co. and I've had it for a while. Had colored up PPenguin some months ago (UFO?) so dragged him out of the pile to finish. Then had to hunt up the stamp from the Christmas stamp drawers :-) so I could provide specs.

Colored with copics on Xpress paper. Masked the image, used a dotted texture stamp to over stamp & emboss with clear EP. Airbrushed different shades of blue copics over the background. IRL the embossed dots look like falling snow (well, they do to me cause that's what I was trying for!). Added spica pen on his scarf & muffs, and some polar white flowersoft on his hat brim and bobble at the top.  Dragged some glossy accents around his flippers to create the illusion of ice. Then set him aside in the UFO box for a few months. Used S/B Label 2 for diecutting, mat cut from red glitter paper.

-Fiskars border punch trim from Echo Park 6x6 Winter Wishes. and background DP is Recollections Blue Christmas 6x6. I find that the smaller papers work better for me; I tend to be wasteful on the larger 12x12, especially if there is a large design. I'm not good at devising ways to show these papers off as well as they deserve.

Lastly added an Impression Obsession Snowflake diecut, from Paper Cuts Holograph paper. Sentiment is Elizabeth Craft die from a snippet of white as I didn't want to try to diecut the thick red glitter paper. I used a red Spica pen to color after diecutting & IRL it has a lot of sparkle.

- cardbase was white, smaller than my usual 4.75x5.5, so this should not take extra postage anyhoo.

So I'm off to link up with Rudolph Day for August, and I do hope you'll come over and join us.

Thanks for visiting, and have a wonderful afternoon. Hugs

Edit: Just visited over at Craftyhazelnuts Christmas Challenge Extra for August. Saw that it was an "Anything Goes" so I am linking this card over at that fun challenge also. I just saw some fabulous cards that I want to go back & take a closer look. C'mon ...let's go have some fun visitin'.

Edit 2: Got some reminders that PPenguin would fit the bill at Craftyhazelnuts CHNC 139, where the challenge for Christmas is 'cute'....so I'll go link him there. Thanks for clueing me in ladies!

  2. Hi Mary,

Ugh, the ninth month..... What a cute Christmas card!

I'm thankful that I have a very small yard. It has two small terrace areas that have only a few holes between the perennials. I have a small patch of fake lawn for the dogs and a small patio for me. Luckily not much maintenance required. Don't forget to stay hydrated while working outside.

    Hugs,
    Kay

How great that I'm going to make a lot of Christmas cards today, I will be able to link on up at Rudolph Day!! Take it easy in that yard and keep hydrated!! Our heat comes back today.
