The card today has one of DeeDee's Digi-s from the August 2014 release, and is one I really loved a lot. It was so easy to think of lots of ways to use it, and here's what my first idea turned out to be.
- DeeDee's Digis Autumn Praises from the August 2014 release, precolored, but of course I added some copic shading. Printed several copies, cut out one and did the shading & a bit of stylus shaping. The 2nd image was die cut with a Cheery Lynn scalloped rectangle die, airbrushed the background with Copics E41 and E40. Used a mask to spray E55 just on the scalloped edges to make a little frame. Then popped the previously shaded fussy cut image over the top. After this a few WoStellas added some glimmer & shine.
- S/B pumpkin die used to cut a piece of Canson #98 mixed media paper. Covered with a clear gesso, let it dry. Used a Memory Box screen stencil to apply some white gesso in spots (I'm still trying with this stuff, and this is the first time I've achieved a decent result. I think because I just did the process in spots, quickly lifted the stencil straight up immediately. Usually at this point I managed to smear the works!). Let this dry for a few hours, then used a copper Stempel paint to cover the punkin part, and some green for the stem.
- the die cut letters were done with the Silhouette Cameo (my friend challenged me to get my backside in gear and JUST USE IT!) Well this is my first effort - ever - outside of class. I hope you'll see more of this kind of thing in future.
- Soda can leaf die cut, previously colored with alcohol inks.
- background papers from 2 autumn 6x6 packs- cut in triangles to fit the cardbase. EK Success notebook edge punch was added after my first photo showed just a smidge of the white cardbase at the very top. Daggone, thought the base had been covered well until I took the first photo, and peeking out at the top was a tiny gleam of white. Had to carefully lift the die cut punkin to sneak under that border trim to cover the white bit. Luckily it lifted ok, as did the letters. Whew!
DeeDee has a new September Challenge going on. This month, we're celebrating the (almost) start of Fall with our little chipmunk friend. He is keeping warm as the weather turns cooler with his fluffy, green sweater and his yummy cup of cider.
You can purchase this month's featured set for just $1.25 in the shop. If you participated in last month's challenge, you should have already received this set in your email. (If you participated but didn't receive the set, please contact DeeDee -- sometimes things do go wrong with email). Some of DeeDee's designers made projects to help get you thinking about how you might use this set. I love seeing what they do with the featured set each month -- don't you?!?! There will be more inspiration each week throughout the challenge as well, so be sure to check back!

Things will be turning before long won't they?! I love fall, but not so much in what follows. lol So I'm not speaking of it! Summer went by much to quick for my liking but I can say that because we had a very cool summer. Had it been very hot like some of you are having, I would be wanting fall to get here! Hugs, Brenda

Hi Mary. To answer your question I have to be honest and say I'm not sure exactly how I did these as I wrote it up a bit of a time after and as you will have seen yourself, it is rather random, so sorry if my explanation seems a bit vague. I am having a lovely time and haven't really said but am on holiday in France for three weeks. I am writing this overlooking a beautiful estuary in Brittany. We have already been through Normandy and we are meeting up with four friends for the next week and then the last week we will travel up the Loire Valley before going home. Apart from two great trips to Australia this is the best holiday DH and I have ever had and I feel so lucky to be able to do it. I have scheduled posts and am trying where wifi allows to keep in touch with things, but with this tablet some blogs do not load well, so I think my commenting may be a bit variable. It goes without saying this is a personal one Mary. x
ReplyDeleteLovely card! You've colored the image perfectly! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat card for today's post! I specially like the texture on that pumpkin! Wonderful effect! cheers from California
