Good afternoon, welcome, and I hope you're not getting too bored with all the Thank You cards! Today's card is made from a lot of snippets that have been floating around on the desk, and so Yay! I'll get to go see my little buddy Parsnip!
First, though, please welcome a new follower, Suzanne from Keep In Touch. Suzanne is from the New England area, but recently had the huge treat of getting to meet Our Darnell (doesn't Everybody know Darnell?!); got to take a tour of the Famous Playhouse. That's how I got to meet Suzanne (via Blogland of course), but looking forward to getting to know a new friend. You might want to give a pop-in and enjoy some inspiration just as I did. I love this Play It Forward thing, don't you?
We have some very skillful & generous gardeners in our subdivision. Fortunately for us, they have been very kind to share some luscious tasting tomatoes with us this summer. The card is for these neighbors.
- Roses were stamped with a very old PSX stamp recently purchased at a local stamp garage sale. Colored with copics, added some WoS (clear!). Recently discovered an old pot of Judikins MicroGlaze, from a long ago stamp show (NBUS). Decided to see what it looked like if a bit was rubbed over the image, as it is supposed to provide a protective coat. Made the piece quite shiny. Oh yes, the stamping was done on a snippet of Copic Xpress paper.
- White embossed border is a snippet left over from this card, and the xstitched oval mat came from this card prior to embossing branches onto the created green background.
- The S/B mat behind all of this other stuff was a boo-boo that looked as though it might come in handy. What happened was the white strip at the bottom of the dp didn't get removed before any diecutting was done. For some reason, I cut the piece from the white reverse side, and oops, when I turned it over, there is that white printed strip to the left side of the dang die cut! Fortunately this was a 12x12 piece, so I had enough paper to finish out THAT project...and didn't clean the desk, so the embossed border covered up the Ooopsy.
- Top fold white card base was sponged with DI Salty Ocean, Twisted Citron and Abandoned Coral. Used some pearl & gold sprays to blend these colors and assembled the card. The MS punched butterfly hides another little Uh-Oh. When spreading the MicroGlaze on the white embossing, got a little crinkle in the paper. Punched 2 MS butterfly layers from a brusho-background, put these together so that no white shows under the wings, added some black pearls, and Voila.
- Elizabeth Craft die cut sentiment from more white snippets (3 layers), and colored with a pink WoS.
Parsnip, may I come play at the Snippets Playground? (BTW, it's week 185, and the gates are still open for 3 more days..psst, there's also a lovely MBox Christmas tree die on offer too, along with some truly fab inspirational cards. You don't wanna miss out, now do you?)
Thanks for popping in this afternoon. Big Hugs and lots of Blessings. Stay cool if the weather is as hot in your area as 'tis here.
A lovely sunset enjoyed from the deck on Monday about 8:30. The camera never truly captures the glory of the colors we see, even though I tried several settings. But this is quite pretty I thought.
How pretty your roses are, Miss Mary! Lovely colors and shading. xo
ReplyDeleteIt's a beauty my friend! Love that big rose - and it's colored so pretty. Wish I had more of them in my garden. A beautiful card and a wonderful way to tell your neighbor thank you.

This is a lovely card for your neighbors. It is always wonderful to get garden fresh tomatoes. Our next door neighbor used to raise them and give us some, but we stupidly moved away from them. Our next door neighbor here used to give us some but since he had a stroke he is unable to work outside anymore. I do not in any way, shape or form have a green thumb, so me growing them is out. I love sunset pictures and this is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Mary, this is stunning!! The roses look amazing!! I love the beautiful colors and the fabulous texture!! What a gorgeous card for your neighbors!! They will adore this!! Have a great evening :)

Another gorgeous card, Mary. Great way to use up some of your snippets, although however many I use, and I use a lot, the pile never seems to get any smaller. I think they must multiply during the night!
ReplyDeleteLove your sunset photo, beautiful colours. xx
This is gorgeous, Mary! Love the roses and butterfly. Thanks for stopping by and for your sweet comment. Hope to see you soon.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

What a wonderful way to say thanks to your generous neighbors! I love the many colors on your card, along with that pretty rose and beautiful butterfly too! I hope you're staying cool. Our hot weather had an abrupt change today after a line of storms went through. It's like autumn out there, and chilly enough to wear a jacket this evening! LOL
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous photo! Loving the idea of the card off to the side like that, with just the butterfly as an accent. The rose image is gorgeous and the backdrops set it off perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your warm welcome!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty card - your neighbors will love it (and hopefully give you more tomatoes! ;))
Gorgeous result from using all your 'snippets' Mary :-)

Mary I just want to say what a delightful lady you are and thank you for always leaving me and others such heartfelt comments with sincere words...you are one of the nicest I have ever 'met' and I often feel my comments are rushed. I have around 80-90 comments and emails to respond to in a 24hr period and love to respond to all, so some are not as heartfelt as I'd like them to be...thank you...
ReplyDelete....re my dad, he is nearly 103 and now and again decides to 'hibernate' and not eat or drink for days so it is a huge worry for me....take care xx

Lovely card, Mary! The neighbors will love it. I just adore some of the older PSX stamps. They color beautifully. Our tomatoes have not come in yet, and with 2 cool nights, I am sure it will be prolonged. Our garden has gotten away from us this year, with so much rain. We did however have a bumper crop of carrots. I too shared with Carol (Our Little Inspirations), perhaps a little too much. LOL, me thinks she is sick of the sight of my veggies! That sunset is heavenly! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteQuite a wonderful collage card you created Mary! I especially like those rose petals go over the edge! Really pretty! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card Mary! Thanks for sharing the picture of this amazing sunset!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful rose, Mary! Fresh tomatoes are good, and the thank you is even better! Beautiful sunset! It's so hard to capture all that beauty with a camera! You did good with this! Too hot to sit out tonight.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fabulous card, Mary, I so adore the lovely roses and the colours of summer. The photo of the sunset is so beautiful too. Have a wonderful weekend, sweetie.
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs

Mary, this is such a pretty Thank You card for your gardening neighbours! How clever to use up so many snippets - and thank you for describing them in such detail, I find that really inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI love the beautiful sunset picture, too. What amazing colours!
Have a lovely weekend!
love Mags B x
The neighbors handing out own grown tomatoes deserve a thank you card. And even though there are no tomatoes on your card the colors certainly match. The roses you colored so beautifully, look at that shading, wow. It's a lovely design!
ReplyDeleteYou are just the best neighbor, this is the sweetest thank you card and I am sure the tomatoes were yummy! I love your card, those roses are as beautiful as can be and they look wonderful with your adorable butterfly. Just the perfect card as a thank you for tomatoes!
ReplyDeleteLovely card!
ReplyDeleteI drool every time I read where you were able to get together with the wonderful Darnell! Such a talented lovely lady! It's a dream of mine to meet her someday.
Gorgeous card Momma Mary! Love the layers you have added to this card. The rose image is just beautiful and you have colored them perfectly. I love the shapes used in the layers, the background colors on the right side of this card is just beautiful and so summery looking. And of course the butterfly finishes off this card perfectly. I know the neighbors will love this card as much as you and hubby enjoyed the fruits/vegies! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteHow cleverly you have put all the snippets together, to make a lovely card, Mary!!!! And the roses are just stunning!!! How sweet of your neighbours to share some of the harvest and how sweet of you to make them a lovely 'thank you' card!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd WOW what a lovely sunset!!! You really live in a beautiful place, Mary!!! TFS!!!
