Thanks so much for joining as a new follower here, and I encourage my visitors to check out this beautiful blog. The numbers increased, but I can't determine if it's Blogger doing the Silly Buggers Thing (thank you to my Brit friends for this adorable terminology!) or if there really IS a new follower that I've not recognized as such. If it should be you, please leave me a comment saying you were a recent follower, whom I've not recognized here on the blog, & shared a link to your blog. Thank you!
Now I'm being very brave to show today's card. Bear in mind, I do NOT know how to Zentangle, despite purchasing several books. After hunting for these safely stored books, I did find one. But I had already doodled this focal image, that I will refer to as a Zentangle! Since Mr. MoJo has gone walk-about for a while, sometimes at night I will just 'doodle' on leftover die cuts..mainly to keep myself awake while watching television. If I just sit, I tend to get sleepy in the wee small hours. Have no idea if it will ever actually get mailed to anyone...{go ahead, - you can laff at this one if you wanna :-)}
- the doodles were colored with pencils, pens and some felt tip markers like Sharpies. I've done several of these, and now have no clue as to how to use them. The background, which was a snippet
from another circle die cut, and was headed for the trash bin, came to the rescue here. Embossed it with Elizabeth Craft EF, Tiny Mosaic, and put some Sookwang behind the opening. The doodled circle (or Zen!) fit into the opening very nicely. The circle Zen piece is actually a snippet too, as it was a leftover on the desk pile.
- Double stitched circle frame is Avery Elle, which was a last minute addition (no, it's not covering any spacing from the inlay either. It was just still in the 'to put away' pile on the floor). I'd seen another framed card somewhere and decided to add the frame at the last minute. Actually it sort of helps with the Zen, don't you think?
As I said, this one may never be mailed, but if and when, I'll add a die or stamped sentiment at the time.
Ya'll have a great Saturday. We have our usual heat, skies look cloudy, so possibly some rain later. Or maybe not...you just never can tell. As always, thanks so much for stopping in. Hugs.
I don't do Zentangle so I'm probably not a good judge, but I think this is fantastic! I love the doodling, colors and layout! A lovely card! We're having some thunder storms around us. Nothing too close yet.
ReplyDeleteMary, I don't do zen tangle at all, but I really love what you have designed here. Hazel x

This is delightful Mary and your zentangling so prettily coloured works perfectly with the frame and the beautiful embossed background and this should definitely be a 'sender'. I certainly have a lot of catching up to do after my week away in Wales. The weather was a bit mixed but hubby and I had a great time. x
ReplyDeleteGood job Mary. I have never done Zentangle ... and don't know if I'm brave enough to try. It looks like fun ... a bit of whimsy and a lot of creativity. Very cool technique. We are back to a heat wave this weekend (heat wave for us here, that is). :) Up over 30 degrees today and expected again for tomorrow ... around 90 F. We are doing our best to stay cool. Supposed to cool down a bit later next week --- thank goodness! xx
ReplyDeleteOh Mary, this is positively gorgeous! Such a striking image, so richly colored, and pairs well against the stark white! I have a few zentangle stamps and they are quite unique and complex to work with, but you made this just SHINE!! ♥
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderfully done card! I enjoy seeing Zentangle, and I enjoy trying to do it. (even If I'm not very good at it! Your nicely done card has encouraged me to give it another try.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean by Mr Mojo has left the building...LOL!
With me, I think the summer heat might have something to do with that...smile.
and that maybe I just needed a blog break.
Thank you for the nice words on my blog.
God Bless, and I hope you are having a great weekend.
You have to be kidding!? Why would you not mail this? It's fabulous! I don't see anything wrong with it! Not that I am an expert. I always wanted to try out Zentangle but haven't gotten around to it! You go, girl!
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of a quilt pattern. I really love it. I think Zentangle is quite up your alley, Miss Mary!
ReplyDeleteJust a very quick hello (mean to still be on time out until a bit better, but behaving gets boring. On third variety of antibiotics now) and to say what a gorgeous card Mary.
ReplyDeleteHave a good Sunday.

ReplyDeleteWOW Mary this is stunning display of colour and zentangle image...love it.xx{aNNie My Personal Blog}
ReplyDeleteThis is one striking card Mary! I have tried Zentangling - while I was without internet last month - I also coloured mine with coloured pencils, never thought to make anything with them though! This idea is inspired and I might just see what I could make with mine . . . but then, mine aren't that good! Although we are in our summer too, we have our usual UK summer weather, rain, grey skies and cold! Have a lovely Sunday my friend! Hazel xx
ReplyDeleteNever tried this before and not sure if I ever will, but love your design
ReplyDeleteOMGosh Momma Mary, this is a beautiful card! I love your zentangle, it looks amazing and I think that you did a fabulous job with it! I love the embossed panel and love the circle in which you placed your zentangle image in. Yep, you did great on this one and I hope you sent it to someone, don't be keeping this lovely artwork all to yourself. lol Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteLaugh? Certainly not Mary, this is wonderful, such great colours and just as zentangle should be!! xx
ReplyDeleteIt looks good to me. I've seen it before but haven't tried it. I think this looks good and I like it colored. I've only seen black and white but adding the color is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteLooks good to me! I've never tried it, but I find your frame to set it off perfectly!
ReplyDeleteThe zentangle is beautifully showcased with the circle shaped frame and white background. It's a sort of modern meets retro kind of design, quite cool and unique. I've never tried this, but it looks fun!
ReplyDeleteLooks brilliant to me Mary, never done any Zentangle myself.. your is great. would certainly use this card..Perfect!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs Pam x
Mary....is there anything you can't do? This is fabulous and so creative.
ReplyDeleteYour Zentangle looks perfect, Mary!!! Have never tried doing it, myself - don't think I've got enough talent to do anything that would be good enough to use on a card!!!! Surely you have to give this card to someone special!!! Love how you've coloured the Zentangle and have given it centre stage on your card!!!! So beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteHugz
The Zentangle thing looks so easy, but it is not....I tried and gave up on it. Yours however looks great - reminds me about a Kaleidoscope - really pretty!
ReplyDeleteOh this is gorgeous Mary!
ReplyDeleteYou can really do it all!
Wow Mary, this is amazing! never seen anything like this before, it looks wonderful

Simply Paper Card Design
Mary, it looks great. It's so much better than my first attempt at zentangling. It was so bad I recycled it on the compost heap!
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous card! I love seeing Zentangles colored in. That just adds something to them. I think you did a fab job of creating it. It is supposed to be Zen-like, no? You've totally captured that here. I saw a vendor selling Zentangle cards recently only he called them something else. He was explaining the technique to me but yeah, totally Zentangle!
ReplyDeleteThis is soooo cool Mary! You need to be super proud of this - Wow! Great job!!!!! Hugz
ReplyDeleteFabulous CAS card love the zentangle-not brave enough to have a go myself lol-the frame and embossing show it off perfectly anyone would be delighted to receive this card-the odd time my numbers have gone up but seems to be no new pics and love your silly buggers lol

THis is such a clever and stunning zentangle creation, and I love how it captures the eye immediately with colors and patterns! The embossing is just beautiful and I love the solid white frame too!
