Christmas

Hello & welcome. Hope your weekend has gone well. Here's another experiment to share & perhaps you've tried this process to make a card. It was a new one for me.

- Used plastic packaging material from Spellbinders die to emboss in a Darice snowman EF

- added Glossy Accents to the back of the plastic; spread it around the plastic with my fingers, then sprayed with White Linen Dylusions spray once dry. I didn't know if I had to 'rough up' the plastic to get the spray to adhere, hence the Glossy Accents. The little purple-y bit in the top right corner happened as I started to add a 2nd coat of the white spray, picked up the wrong bottle(an amethyst spray). I blotted the ink quickly, but some didn't come off. I decided I'd use this piece anyway. We'll call that a storm cloud in the background!

- colored the snow people with various Sharpie & Bic markers. I tried various markers, but the Sharpie & Bic seemed to adhere best.

- added some Ranger Star Dust Stickles, some glittery snowflake stickles, and the sentiment is an Elizabeth Craft peel off sticker.

- Plastic is placed against a white cardbase.

Experimenting is fun - some you win, some are 'warts'. Don't think I'll call this one a wart. It passed the DH test!!! That's my benchmark.

Come again when you can, and have a happy afternoon. Hugs

  7. Gorgeous card Mary, love the cute snowmen.
Frantage is like an embossing powder with sparkly and lumpy bits in - you use versamark pad then sprinkle frantage on and heat emboss - peeps use it a lot on vintage/shabby cards.
Take care and have a good week x Susan x

  10. Hi Mary,

What a cute card! I can see why it passed the DH test.

My weekend was low key. The little scrapbooking store where I taught two mixed media canvases is closing this month. I don't think she was open for even a year.

    Peace,
    Kay

  13. What an amazing technique, Mary! It tickled me to read that you picked up the wrong color of ink. Last night, I pulled out a navy marker instead of a green one and couldn't tell the difference. I think I need to get my eyes checked!

  14. Very cool! I love seeing an embossed image as the focal point and it's nice to see new and interesting ways to present them :) I laughed about you picking up the wrong bottle. It is SO easy to do stuff like that when you get on a roll are in creative mode.

    Best crafty wishes!
