Purple Grasses

Happy Friday afternoon, and such a beautiful one it is in our neighborhood. Sunny, warm, but a very strong breeze is about. We have been able to open a few doors & windows. We have some fellas here putting down mulch, so that nice smell is permeating the house. Thanks to all who left comments for us to enjoy the DD. We did - immensely; it's just that her visit is always way too short. It seems as though she just arrives, then has to leave once again. Hopefully she will be able to return near the end of June. We did get our family legal business squared away, so that took up a good amount of her visit, but at least it's an item that we can mark done as a family.

The card share today is one that's been underway for a while. In the recent snippet cleanup, the colored image was found. Yesterday while moping around & missing the Kid, the card was finished.

- don't remember the stamp image. I think the stamp may have been inked with markers, then stamped. There's purple Spica pen on the flower heads, Distress Inks smudged around the die, which is either a S/Binder or a Sizzix rectangle.

- cardbase is a coffee colored prefolded card, bought on sale somewhere.

- background layer was inked with DI Lilac, Shabby Shutters and Victorian Velvet - which I think was the color smudged on the image panel, along with the Shabby Shutters. Spritzed with Tattered Angels gold spray. Let it dry, then embossed with a SU EF - maybe Vintage Wallpaper.

- Purple lacey layer is a S/Binder die, and the green top & bottom trim is a small die from the Exquisite Labels 11.

- Elizabeth Craft sentiment die cut from a snippet of Distress Ink background paper.

That's it for today. Hope that you have a fantastic weekend in store, and that Spring has arrived in your area. We're hoping we've seen the last of the winter weather. Expecting some thunderstorms later this evening, but I won't feel sad if they blow on by us. Thanks for joining me this afternoon. Big Hugs.

  1. Your airy image is so pretty. I can almost see it blowing in the breeze. Beautiful lilac and green colors. The sponging really makes your image stand out.

Oh, I can imagine how you miss your daughter. It's so hard when they live far away.

  4. Mary you keep getting better all the time. This card is a timeless beauty. I even enlarged it to see it better. The image is especially well done and initialed like a piece of art, which it is. Everything around it is like a beautiful picture frame. Hello indeed. Bravo for sure.

  22. It's just beautiful Mary! Love the little gems on the side but the image is awesome! SO lovely!

Sorry you're missing your daughter but know you have a grand time when she was there.

I really had to laugh at what you said about the mulch! We just finished mulching all of our garden! Two HUGE bags of the stuff. For some reason though, ours is the non smelling kind! Just a lot of work.

  23. So love this card Momma Mary. The image is just beautiful! I love anything to do with nature and of course this image reminds me of wheat-which I love seeing waving in the fields. It also reminds me of the fox tail grass that we always chewed on at the farm. lol Or tickled someone with the fuzzy ends. So much fun. I love how you used the DI colors on the mat, they all work so well together. Love the embossing too as well as that green mat. The colors on this card are just lovely. Glad you were able to get the legal stuff taken care of while DD was home. I know all to well how short the visits are. It always seems like when we go down to SC we no sooner get there before it is time to pack the bags and leave again. I'm always glad to get back home to my "stuff" but sad to leave if that makes any sense. lol Part of my heart will always belong to SC, the other part to PA. Hugs

  26. I love the simplicity of the stamping on the topper so beautifully done, and the way you have jazzed it up with the gorgeous inking and the pretty embossing folder, and then the ornate dies you have tucked behind in lovely complementary colours. I'm sorry your DD's visit was so fleeting but will be lovely for you to see her again in the not too distant future. Our DS lives in Australia and visits are few and far between so I know how you feel. x

  30. Such a pretty stamp, and I love all the layers you have put it on. It has rapidly moved from spring into summer here during my couple of weeks in UK. It is always windy in April, but the sun is quite hot in sheltered places. Kate x

  31. What a pretty look...so soft and subtle. I am going to have to try the marker method and huffing as I really like the outcome. This is a great card Mary!
