All Occasion

Good afternoon, and it's a beautiful one in Upstate SC. Sunny, supposed to have temps in the 80's, but still have a lovely breeze at the moment. Had morning coffee on my back porch and enjoyed it so much.

Here's the card I was trying to finish - had the image colored (with Chromatix markers), but couldn't get it diecut, matted & on a card in time for DD's anniversary. So one for the stash. I deliberately left off a sentiment - which will go in the lower right corner.

Just at the moment I can't locate this cling stamp - purchased at my delightful day at Betty's Scrapbook Room. I can't remember if it is a Penny Black or Hero Arts. I stamped with Versamark, heat embossed with Ranger Seafoam white. Since there was a lot of embossing, I didn't want to ruin copic marker nibs, so I used Chromatix markers (they are cheaper!). I haven't done a lot with these markers, and found that for me, they didn't blend as well as the Copics. However, once the piece dried, I was ok with the look. I think next time, I'll try this with just stamping in Memento, coloring with copics. The stamp is probably buried under something, and when I find it, I'll edit this post as to the company name.

- Memory Box Sonora Rose diecut using snippets on the pile, and added some shading with copics.

- diecut focal image with S/Binders Adorning Square. Used same die to faux cut a mat in blue pearly paper - (another snippet), sponged edges of both pieces with DI Stormy Sky, China Blue.*(sorry should read Broken China)

- green textured Bazzill cardbase

More jewels to enjoy:

Logan Sapphire ...423 carats, cut from a crystal mined in Sri Lanka. It is the heaviest mounted gem in the National Gem Collection, in a brooch setting - framed by 20 round brilliant cut diamonds, totaling 16 carats

Marie-Antoinette earrings. According to tradition, more than 200 years ago, the diamonds in these earrings were among the favorite pieces of jewelry of Queen Marie-Antoinette. The Marie-Antoinette diamonds, 20.34 and 14.25 carats respectively, here shown in diamond and platinum settings by Harry Winston, are replicas of the originals. The diamond and platinum tops were designed by Cartier.

Spanish Inquisition Necklace. According to legend, portions were once the property of Spanish royalty. This necklace is composed of 2 strands of antique-cut diamonds and emeralds to which a lower pendant and upper chain containing modern brilliant cut diamonds have been added. The large central emerald weighs approx. 45 carats. There is a total of 374 diamonds, 15 emeralds.

Tomorrow, I'll try to show some of the Mt. Vernon pictures & then go back to the jewelry. I do hope you're enjoying this little pictorial trip through the jewel collection. It was fascinating to see these beautiful jewels and read the history.

Have a wonderful Wednesday, and thanks for joining me this afternoon. Hugs.
