Blue Floral Get Well

Welcome - always happy to have you stop for a visit. Today's card was started with a recycled floral bouquet. The original card was just too pretty to not share again. The card has been received, so remembered I could share it here, and do a little break from all the Valentine cards.

- Oval Double Stitched die for the pretty flowers, which had some additional shading added with colored pencils, then added Nuvo Crystal drops in the centers.

- S/B lacy oval die for the mat.

- Dots Embossing folder for the banner.

- Bazzill textured navy card base, added small strips of the same paper used for the banner.

I hope it made the recipient happy to know we were thinking of her and sending hugs & prayers.

Thanks for joining me this evening, and Big hugs coming your way.

Get Well Truck

Good evening on what has been a rainy & cooler Sunday for us here in Upstate South Carolina. It's been a very quiet day; didn't accomplish much aside from reading, and fixing some dinner (well, I did a load of laundry!) Hope that you had a good day. Our neighbor with the new hip seems to be doing fine, having home therapy visits. DH went to visit him a few minutes yesterday.

Another neighbor is getting new knee(s) this coming week...so DH picked out another design after finding an image that had been stamped who knows when. I had learned to do monochromatic coloring in a long-ago copic class, but had never tried it. So started out with that idea and here we go:

IO Classic Truck - used warm & cool grays to do the main coloring. Once that was done, it looked much too stark for me, so I added in a bit of green on the grass, very light blue in the sky (probably should have been a night blue!) and then colored the moon. In the moon area, the ink seemed to 'bleed' where the branches are, so used that Kaisercraft neon pen and it worked quite nicely! Remember I had I didn't care for the neon colors in the set? Came in handy. Die cut with a pierced rectangle die and just left the white edge as a mat. Windshield has Glossy Accents, and the metal parts got a lick of silver WoS.

-The clear ridged fishtail banner (which looks curled but it really is down flat) came from some recycled material that was holding 'something' in a Styrofoam packing. For some reason, the texture effect of this strapping made me think it could be used for _whatever_. As I was assembling the card, I thought about this plastic, and held it to the card. Got the Mr's opinion on it, and he said "Use it". The narrow fishtail in the center is a snippet from a sponging project.

- Very Old Stuff wooden get well stamp inked with Hero Arts Unicorn pigment ink, stamped over the black. Realized I do not have a nice font for a get well stamp...must correct that little omission. (might have one as part of a clear set).

The card base is a green shade (not the chartreuse it appears in the photo!). I hope there are not any more Get Well commissions in the near future. Got some birthday cards that need to be done, and inserts for Christmas cards. Also some "special" Christmas cards for the family.

Thanks for joining me and hope your week is just dandy.  Big Hugs.

A Get Well Car Called Henry

Good evening, and it's been a rather exciting one in our area (and not for good excitement either!)
We had been advised that more rain was expected this afternoon and while the day was pretty overcast & gloomy, no rain ensued. About 3pm, Moi decided a nap might be nice, so grabbed a cozy throw, headed for one of the guest beds. Snoozing away when the rains started. Then Mr. was shaking my shoulder, saying "Put your shoes on, there's tornado warnings about, and we might need to head for the basement". (Are we ever thankful to have the thick walls and realize part of the area is under the ground level? Oh YES we are!) Watching the weather news, to see when we needed to head downstairs, and thankfully, it moved away from our area. Not so good for the other areas it was moving to, but hopefully no touch-down will cause any destruction. I don't like excitement too much ..of ANY kind!!! (never did either!)

Also would like to give a warm welcome to a new follower: Tee of The Altered Paper. Tee has some lovely tags that she entered into The Twelve Tags of Christmas Challenge hosted by my dear friend, Loll. That's how Tee & I connected, and I hope you'll have time to zip over, say hey, and enjoy some of the beautiful projects Tee has on her blog! (be sure to say I sent you,  now hear?!) It's so nice to meet and make new blog friends. Tee lives close to the area where the August Cincinnati Stampaway Show is held, so who knows, maybe one day we might meet face to face????

On to today's card: Mr has a neighbor friend who enjoys cars with him. They go to lots of car shows (several others in our area join them as well). This particular friend is rebuilding an old truck, using the colors that are associated with a popular college here in our area. On Thanksgiving day, he was out playing with his grands, slipped and broke a  hip. So a special card was requested, and I had to hunt out this stamp set we had bought on one of our visits to Sparkle n Sprinkle when there was still a physical store (since then SnS only has online sales).

- SnS Henry 596 (available in digi format too) stamped on Xpress, colored with Copics (Mr. chose the colors that his friend's truck has). In case you see red, this is actually done in the YR(yellow red) Copic colors. Used WoS on the seat upholstery, Glossy Accents on the windshield, some silver WoS for the car metal parts.

- S/B Label one die cut and also the faux mat.

- C/Bug embossing folder (it's  an old one -- don't remember the name.) It's always reminded us of the metal used on the toolboxes frequently seen attached on a pickup truck bed). Used silver mirror card to emboss this, adhered over the white card base; deliberately cut it so that I could apply the b&w stripe border(WR Memory Keepers Shape & Tape). This is not Washi tape. Bought the product thinking it was sticky on the backing. There's several different designs in the package. And it was not sticky :-(

Hope you enjoy Mr's card. He stipulated the image and EF, basically designed it, I just did the work!!! Oh, and his friend had successful hip replacement surgery, is doing well, and will be doing the rehab therapy.

Hugs and come again when you can.

Just Buzzin' In Get Well

Good afternoon, and welcome. No, I've not fallen off the face of the earth. Just still in the chillin' mode, and doing some small tidy up house chores. I've been released by the surgeon, so can drive again, and do the normal routine once again. Thanks to all who sent emails & cards and lots of good thoughts! Much appreciated.

Haven't really been in the creative mood, but the fella who takes care of our computers had surgery yesterday. Been going through boxes of UFO's, and found this card (VOS)...no idea how long ago this was made. Thought it might bring a grin to his face when he sees it. He was here Friday to replace one of desktop monitors. It was less expensive to buy a larger thin tv screen than to buy a monitor, can you believe it? It's wall mounted, so I have to get used to looking straight ahead, rather than down at a desk monitor. (should be good for my neck, anyway, and much nicer when watching videos too).

Here's the card:

- added the M/Box bee hive, bees. The hive was cut from a piece of rather glossy cardboard packaging, and shaded with the copic warm grays. Bees cut from white snippet, colored with copics, added WoS.

-MFT fishtail cut the computer generated sentiment, which was an outline font, colored in with WoS.
Some glitter glue had been added to the bees on the paper background. Looks ok IRL, not so great in the photo.

Easy peasy to finish up a UFO. For this guy, thought simple was best.

We've had a couple of days that were pleasant to enjoy the porch swing; mid-day - it's still quite warm. We're having DH's navy buddies next week, so hope it will be pleasant for the guys to enjoy doing some guy things. That's another reason the tidy-up mode is upon me!!! (Don't worry, it doesn't last long!!!).

Thanks for coming by, and I'll do my best to get back into card making and blogging - it's been lovely to have a little break though! Big Hugs & there's room in the swing!!

A House Mouse Get Well

Good afternoon, and hey, it's mid-week. Even though I've been retired for some years, psychologically I still get the 'made it to the middle of the week' feeling, and on Fridays, YAY. It doesn't really make a great deal of difference to the current way we live, but still...The only feeling that reflects retirement is: I don't get that let-down dread on Sunday night, when I'm thinking of all the things I didn't get accomplished before the new workweek. Now I LIKE that!!!

Still working on cleaning out old colored images, and today's little House Mouse is one of those. The only thing I've changed on this little fella, is to add some glossy accents to the water, and die cut him out.

- the die is a PTI and the frame cuts are backed with Scotch tape to keep the strips in place.

- Lil Inker sun die, cut from 2 pieces of yellow snippets; added this because the front just looked too bland. Don't remember the fish tail banner company.

- Mustard color mat was a snippet and the EF was an old one, chosen because the swirl pattern made me think of water.

It's made me feel better about my early copic efforts to realize I can use some of the practice pieces, with just a bit of adding more depth & contrast. I still have trouble creating contrast, although I do realize it adds dimension to a piece. I have to color first, then go back and look, add in. My eyes just don't see it when I'm coloring.

I'm still putting things away, nearly done with one linen closet. Need some more clear storage boxes to fit the very top shelf. There's loads of space above that top shelf, reaching to the ceiling. Decided if I find the right clear boxes to fit that shelf, can stack seldom used items, but still need to keep around.Of course then we'll need a stool to get to anything piled on top of something!!! (Be best just to toss it, but not ready for that drastic step as yet. I've pitched a lot of stuff, though!). Guess it's good to go through the house occasionally and weed out. Bear in mind, I'm not very good at following my own advice on this kind of cleaning, however.

Ya'll have a lovely day, and thanks for joining me. Hugs.

A Get Well Car

Good afternoon. First order of business: a big welcome to 2 new followers:

Princess Judy of Blog This! Judy had been a follower before, but with the current Blogger/Google antics...Judy joined again with Friends Connect - so I guess technically, she's a new follower! Anyway, you don't want to miss PJ's blog, because not only will you enjoy some terrific cards, but {ahem} she makes you laugh too.

Sandra of Sandra's Blog. Sandra has some interesting tabs at the top of her blog, where you can find all sorts of topics to peruse and enjoy. Guarantee you will spend a bit of time browsing through her posts, and enjoying what you find. So if you have some time, please take a cyber visit to their fun blogs! And thanks to you both for joining this blog as followers. It's lovely to see new faces, rather than seeing followers' numbers decrease.

Now on to the card. Last summer a neighbor had some back surgery. Did well; two weeks post surgery, he had a fall, injured his arm. Thankfully no damage to the back op, but he has been dealing with this bad arm for many months. Just prior to Christmas, he had surgery to correct a 'frozen shoulder' by having scar tissue removed. Last week, he's back in the hospital with pneumonia.  Mr. remembered that we had bought this set from Sparkle n Sprinkle, & both guys are car buffs - so he hunted it up. (Now that's what I call Friendship with a capital F cause it took _some_ hunting & lots of muttering under his breath, let me tell you). The link is to the digital set, we have the smaller rubber set.

- Henry was stamped on Copic Xpress, colored with copics, diecut with Spellbinders Label 18. Added some Glossy Accents on the thermometer and windshield. To create a vintage look, airbrushed Copic E41 after coloring, after placing it back in the die to create the white border.

- background pieces created from these supplies:

- Some Liquitex matte gel dabbed on the craft sheet, added in some Lindy's Stamp Gang Magical
powder, mixed up with the plastic knife which was handy. This looked much too thick - so then added in some Liquitex slow dry blending medium, which thinned it a bit. Used the serrated part of the knife to spread some on w/color weight cardstock, and got the wood grain effect. Spritzed some water on the blobby mixture that remained on the mat, and started to smoosh other pieces of c/s in the blobs of color. However, I learned that less spritz is better, because the puddle started to run _everywhere_. A stack of c/s kept on the table to the rescue as I grabbed them madly, trying to keep the spreading puddle from going everywhere! So got several more backgrounds to use. The first bkground turned out best, because it had more of the powder speckles in it. The corrugated paper was on the table and got used as a mop up too. Decided to add a torn piece of it behind Henry for some texture. DH wasn't sure he liked this, thought it looked better without that. Since I'm the card maker, it got added! He did like the final result.

- Momento die set cut the arrow-- Elizabeth Craft die Sentiment from small piece of the blue wood grain c/s, with a little bling from some freebie blue rhinestones. Inside sentiment is from the set & says "Overheated? Low on Gas? Tired Out? Get Well Soon!".

Thanks for joining me in a little visit this Sunday afternoon. So many of you are having severe cold & nasty weather where you live. Hope you can stay inside where it's cozy, and that any who happen to be facing health problems, are feeling much better today. Blessings and Big Hugs.

Edit: Thanks to a blog buddy (Veerle) this masculine card has been linked to Addicted to Stamps where there is a Masculine Challenge going on currently.

II: I must be getting senile! Completely forgot to add the link to Sparkle n Sprinkle Challenge after using this cute stamp. My excuse must be that you're supposed to use glitter, flocking or EP, and I didn't on this one. But then when I checked I saw some others that didn't appear to use those products AND since I used SnS stamp, I took a chance. They may just kick it out of the challenge! But anyway....

Get Well

Good Morning, as we're wending our way down to the weekend. I'm back with another card to share, and without further blah, blah - here it is:

- Penny Black transparent image from the set Enjoy Life, colored with copics on Xpress paper. Diecut with S/B Label 14, smudged with DI Victorian Velvet & Milled Lavendar.

Get Well

Hello and Welcome.

This is another in my Get Well cards even though it says Hello in the sentiment. If I need it for a Thinking of You or Happy Birthday occasion, I can change it with the inside sentiment added later.

This card was an attempt to use a design from a 12x12 paper. I have a lot of the larger paper stacks, never really know the best way to utilize a pretty design on a card, and I don't scrapbook. Looked at this bird paper for quite a while, decided to give it a go. (I have a hard time cutting into a design, not really knowing what I'm going to do with it. So this one sort of evolved as I went along. Remembering that I had the birdcage die was a help).

Paper is from a large K & Co pack that I've had stashed away. Trimmed off a 5 3/4 slice of the paper - to be sure I had enough to cover the standard card front.  Die cut the robin & flowers with S/B Adorning square from the bottom part of the paper where the robin was. The red faux mat is from another large stack created by tracing the S/B outer frame used to cut the robin. As always, I removed the inside of the red mat using a S/B square, so I have that piece to use later. (I think I shall call these paper stacks NBUS - Never Before Used Stuff).

Used top part of the robin paper to cover the card front. I cut the paper just a tad too short on the length, so used an MS checkered punch (another oldie) as border trim to cover a white space at the top of the card.

Impression Obsession Birdcage (NBUS) die cut from a remaining piece of the red paper, as was the Elizabeth Craft sentiment.

Memory Box blue bird die cut from a paper snippet that had been made with Twinkling H20's. Gold chain die cut from snippet used for some gold holly leaves on an earlier card.

I rather liked the opportunity to make a card and not have to stamp & color. I hope you'll like this one. It's a good feeling to know I have a few cards ready in the event I need one, as I tend to scurry around at the last minute to do something. Sort of 'takes the pressure off'.

Stay cool if it's hot where you may be. Hugs

Get Well

Happy Friday and Welcome. I see that I've some new followers via Bloglovin, but I don't know how to access it so as to find out who you might be. So thanks for taking time to follow this blog, and perhaps leave a comment if you see something you like. It makes my day to read the comments, and find that someone enjoyed seeing what I've created. Fridays are usually good days here at our house. Think it is a throw-back to when we worked & looked forward to the week's end. Even when we had to work on the weekends, it still was a big boost when Friday arrived.

Here is the card I have to share today. I decided to get some Get Well cards ready, so that when I need one, all that needs done is to add an insert and then mail it.

Get Well

Welcome and hope that your Monday has been a good day so far. We've gone from overcast skies, with a sprinkle of rain, to bright sunshine, with some gray clouds lurking about. So far our morning has been quiet & relaxed. My way to start the week.

One of our New England friends is under the weather, so I made a card for her last evening. Here 'tis.

Get Well, Pixie's Crafty Snippets

Hello & welcome to my corner of Upstate SC, where there is a beautifully sunny & pleasant day. Our little Redbud tree finally burst into blossom - seemed like overnight (or maybe I was just missing a look at it for a couple days!). So a picture of that will come after my card.

This card is pretty much a total SNIPPET card (that sounds so much nicer than saying Scraps, doesn't it?).

Get Well

Hello & good afternoon. I see Blogger added a new number to the followers' list, so when I checked, I think I see it is jnburretta..If I have the name correctly, thank you so much for joining here, and if you can, please let me know your 'name' and if you have a blog so that I can pay a visit. I also add my followers' names to an Excel spreadsheet so that when I do blogcandy again in the future, I can be sure to include everyone.

For the card share today, I did some alcohol ink playing on a piece of acetate salvaged from cutting apart a Spellbinder packaging (?snippet?). I had an old greeting card - and this one was very old, it was found in an old book we collected somewhere along the way...I'm guessing it may have dated to the 50's or 60's - just from its appearance.(perhaps qualifies as another snippet)!  I was going to toss it, because it was very grubby. Then decided I could fussy cut just part of the front motif, where it was still ok. This happened to be a sort of abstract rose motif. I cut it out, tested it behind the alcohol inked piece of acetate.  Liked how it looked when I placed it between the pink cardstock & the acetate, so hence this card.

- Ranger alcohol inks in reds, pinks & greens, smudged on the acetate with the blending tool

- pink textured cardstock, lightweight, embossed with Darice Flower EF

- Spare Parts pearl brads

- sentiment stamp is SU Teeny Tiny Wishes on a S/Binders 5x7 Detailed Scallops - the smallest die - onto a snippet of white cardstock

- sentiment diecut was sponged with SU Regal Rose using a small finger sponge dauber. Added some tiny pearls to tie in with the brads.

Oh yes, I nearly forgot...I'm using a card that was purchased in a set of 10 from a discount store (The Dolloar Tree). These have been here forever, so might stretch a point and call this base a snippet too. <g>I thought this would come in handy as a card base, but the front of the card is not all that pretty. I have to cover the inside with some decorations too. It makes a nice sturdy card! Because of the brads, this one will be hand delivered. Actually even the brads came out of my stash. I had bought brads when I was first accumulating stuff supplies, but seldom use brads because of the postage issue. I only used them here, because I couldn't find the vellum tape to adhere the acetate to the cardbase without having it show.

I think I'll be off to the Playground, see what's going on ...I'm hearing that our UK friends in some areas have seen Mr. Sun out & about. Think I'll check out that rumor. Love to have you come along! Have a wonderful afternoon. Hugs

Get Well

Good Afternoon, and welcome. It's a dreary, rainy day in my neighborhood. Our daughter is here for a couple days visiting from Florida, so my post is going to be fast. Had to get a Get Well card ready in a hurry, so decided to use an image I had colored previously. The chickadee is a SU stamp, colored with copics, and I went over the holly berries with Stickles, Christmas Red. Used Spellbinders Circles to cut the red mat, then cut another circle in the cardstock, placed the bird & red mat inside. The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny SU set, stamped with Colorbox Fluid Chalk, Deep green, smudged the outer edge with Memento Cottage Ivy. Used the SU Modern punch for the pattern paper behind the oval. Background paper is from a Small Mat stack*, Paper Studio, Hobby Lobby. I think this cheery little chickadee might brighten my friend's day. Hope you're having a lovely Monday where you are, and thanks, as always, for stopping by to look. Hugs
*Edit: The pattern paper is from Paper Studio, Old World Winter 4.6x6.5*

Get Well

Today's card has a Pink Bazzill card base. Focal image is Penny Black Aspire, stamped on cream cardstock using versamark, embossed with Ranger Seafoam white. Used Judikins dusters to ink on Momento inks - Angel Pink (center), New Sprout (2nd), Summer Sky (3rd). I seem to be able to control the dusters better than the sponge applicator tool if I am going beyond just the outer edge. I get 'blotches' with the sponge more than I like. The Judikins dusters look like a minature man's shaving brush (from the olden days!). I did hit the corners with the sponge tool using Distress Peacock Feathers to get better shading. I wiped off the embossed area with a paper towel after the ink application. Border is a Memory Box die, Fauntleroy Crest in teal paper, which was also used to mat the focal image. Tiny butterflies were from a Martha Stewart punch, which has 3 sizes. Yellow flowers were made with a tiny EK Success floral punch which came 2 to a pack, and were shaped with the McGill flower tools. Viva Decor Gold made the centers, as well as the pearls on the butterflies. Sentiment was Penny Black, stamped on cream c/s, cut into a "V" shape, then edged with Peacock Feathers. Enjoy your day, and thanks for checking in.

Get Well card

Good afternoon, and one load of river rock has been delivered, shoveled, and one more ordered. When I saw the first 'scoop' dumped on our driveway pullout, I said "That's not going to be enough", so the driver said he'd bring another scoop, as he had another delivery to our area. (DH had said when I was placing the order "One scoop will BE enough!". WRONG!). Anyway, after DH planted 2 rose bushes, he felt sorry for me, came over to help, and we got the first load spread where I wanted it. It's too hot, and we're too tired to even start on this 2nd load. Will try to get it spread either this evening after it is cool, IF we are up to it...which is looking doubtful at the moment!!! EDIT: Someone asked me what the DH stood for...it's Dear Husband, or Darling Husband OR...depending on your mood....something else Husband! :-) LOL (I meant Dratted...!!!)On to the card:
