A Friend's Card - Easter Basket

Good afternoon on Good Friday. In our area, the day has been overcast and quite cool. My morning has been spent on the phone & sending documentation to the manufacture of our LG Refrigerator, which is 2 yrs old. This is the most expensive fridge we've ever purchased - bought because we thought it would be a quality appliance due to name brand and reports we'd heard or research read. WRONG! After many service calls in the past 2 year, repeated calls to the company, emails and any other way I could think to contact them, I got into a customer complaint forum after the recent last service call, and wrote up a very unflattering review. Saw another company contact email, so they got some verbage too. This morning, a fella called - basically trying to pacify me - which didn't work! Had we not taken the extended warranty, we would have been paying for all these service calls. He asked me to send all the service documentation that I have - which is a ton of it! - so I scanned & emailed. Then tried to call the phone number he'd given me to get back in contact. Guess what? When I get the customer service & finally get to a real live person, give them the extension, no one answers! Oh well...that's how my morning has been. We'll see if this last effort to get LG to be responsible for this Lemon of a refrigerator will do any good. And yes, I did use the word LEMON in my comments on the forum and in the email...which is why I suspect I got this morning's phone call. I'm usually not that explicit when dealing with this kind of issue, as I try to be respectful, but that's what we think of this refrigerator in the 2 years we've had it. The repeated service calls are for the same problem...the fridge part freezes our food; same parts get ordered, Fed Ex brings the wrong parts, we lose food each time, wait on a technician. Temporary fix, then it happens again.

On the bright side - and yes - there's always a bright side - yesterday we opened our mail to find this beautiful card I'm sharing today. It's from the very talented Brenda W. - who started blogging last year. We were so pleased that Brenda thought of us and shared some of her card skills with us:

Brenda W's card
I can't provide card specs, but I can say I really like the way Brenda has used the pretty Washi tape as photo corners. This is the first I have seen Washi tape used this way and it's so pretty. The eggs are very bright & cheery, and I'm really impressed with the basket shading. You will already know I'm loving the stitched die of the focal image. I really do like these stitched & pierced dies.

Thanks Brenda W, for thinking of us. It made our day. Please give yourselves a treat & check out Inkspired to Stamp for a most enjoyable blog visit. In the meantime, enjoy your afternoon. Hugs.

Friends' Easter Cards

Hello and welcome. Thanks so much for all the lovely birthday wishes for my DH yesterday. It was so very much appreciated. He did like the card. (I expect he already knew I had the stamp since usually if he mentions buying a particular stamp, I don't act all that disinterested. As it was an old truck, I imagine that he knew it had already been purchased. After 50+ years, he knows me well. Doesn't always understand me... mind you... but he knows me! LOL).

We've been blessed to receive some beautiful Easter cards lately. Thought I would share them here so that you might enjoy them along with us.

I feel so very fortunate to count both of these extremely gifted cardmakers as friends, and feel so thankful they think of us with beautiful handmade cards. Thank you to both Bonnie & Candee. These are lovely, and are on our mantel.  Anyone who comes into our home, can enjoy these sweet cards too.

That's it for today. A trip to the post office & my allergy shot are my 'to-do' for this afternoon. I'm hoping the Easter cards I must get in the mail will arrive before Sunday. But if not, at least when they do reach their destination, the recipients will know they were thought of with love. Ya'll have a great afternoon. Come again when you can. In the meantime, Big Hugs.

Friend Card

Hi Again. This post was meant to be done earlier, but our internet service was down for a few hours. I just love calling the internet provider. (NOT). Anyway, yesterday we received this sweet card from my friend Candee of Card Corner by Candee.

Thought I'd share & let my readers enjoy it with us. (One more day of green, then I hope I have enough completed to mail out where needed.)

Candee's Card
Isn't it beautiful? I think you will be able to read the sweet Irish verse, and that's a great EF on the background too. Love those tiny shamrocks grouped together, with the green button. We're so blessed to have such talented friends who take time to think of us on holidays.

Hope you will enjoy it as much as we did. Have a wonderful evening. Isn't it terrific to have longer evenings? See ya later, come back when you can. Hugs.

Friends' Cards

Hi Ya, Wanted to pop back in to share a very special St. Patrick's Day card that arrived yesterday afternoon from a good friend (Miss Brenda L.) . Brenda & I have never met 'face-to-face', but she is one of the wonderful bloggers I met early on with this blog business, and we feel like we really know each other. I think she must have been my child - maybe in another life! We're of different generations & backgrounds, but we seem to have so much in common - aside from this card hobby. Anyway, please share with me in enjoying this wonderful card.

Brenda's a whiz with the Cricut, so don't know if many of the elements were made with the Cricut or some other way. Love the colors, the shaped edge, pretty doily...well you get the idea. We both liked the card. So thanks Brenda! Nothing makes one feel so happy as a handmade card done just for you.

Ya'll enjoy what's left of the evening. Hope all you USA folks got your clocks set properly. I wish we'd just go to DST and leave it alone!! Hugs.

Lovely Valentine Card from a Lovely Friend

Good evening & welcome to a very late post. Today started late, then had to make a grocery run, as our area is expecting some severe weather to move in tomorrow evening. Could be a 'no-show', and I won't complain, but it's best to have supplies on hand. Our weather folks are saying it could be the worst that our Upstate South Carolina region has seen in a few years. All this is relative, compared to what our neighbors up north are dealing with. Also DH came down with a cold on Friday, so I've been trying to keep my distance, as I don't want it. We're wiping down surfaces, I'm sleeping in another room, and generally staying away from him, except to administer TLC when needed.

Let me welcome some new friends, and I hope you'll find time to pay a visit to these talented bloggers as well, and let them know I sent you.

Mary S of All Nite Owls

Also many thanks for all the comments about the light box that I shared; I must give all the credit to Miss Cornelia of Stempel Spass: It was her idea, I just made something rather like what she had done. I'm also finding that it works better for my use at night, but I'm still experimenting with using during the sunshine hours too.

On another note: I tried my first attempt at using stencils & embossing paste last evening. I'll share that later. It was not a stellar result, as I used too much paste over what was probably too intricate a stencil for a first try. (well, I did just a tiny bit in a class, but we won't count that!). I'm going to see what I can do with it now that it's dried.

I don't have a card to share this evening, as I've been working on some other stuff lately, but I did want to share this lovely Valentine we received Saturday, from the lovely Miss Bonnie K. So you can enjoy it along with us!

So Bonnie, thank you so much for thinking of us. You made the day for 2 people at this house.

Now I'll say good night, 'cause I'm off to watch the next episode of Downton Abbey. Can you say 'addicted'? Well, not really, but I am addicted to Doc Martin. I was so pleased to see that one of the PBS stations had the 1st episode of series 6 aired last night. I had already seen it on Acorn TV, but was not expecting our local PBS affiliates to air it that soon.

Come again when you have time. Hugs

Friends' Cards

Hiya, and I wanted to share a lovely card received yesterday evening from Carol L. of Our Little Inspirations and also to say warm welcomes to Janeen, of a Little Bit of This and That - who joined as my newest follower. I hope you'll enjoy what you find here. Please do treat yourself to a very enjoyable visit to Janeen's blog. It's always fun finding new artistic folks.

We have melting snow currently, and it really wasn't all that much - perhaps an inch. The weather guys are telling us that it will be much worse tonight. Melting snow leaving moisture, then the overnight temps dropping, so there will be ice. Much worse than snow. Thankful that Mr. & I don't have to get up in the morning to drive to a job on icy roads. Oh yes, last night's chili was one of my better batches, and my brother & SIL said it was good. Sometimes the chili is pretty good, and sometimes just so-so. I just toss things in that I think will work well, no real recipe as such. We use ground turkey (which I don't especially like in chili or spaghetti sauce), as DH has tried to forego red meat.

I'm working on some projects in the background, but I did want to show off my pretty new easel (from the Playground Miss). When Carol's pretty card arrived, decided it would be my first to try out the new easel.

The card is so pretty, and I think even prettier, standing in this classy easel. Thanks Carol and Thanks Diane!
Ya'll have a great afternoon. I'm off to try to get at least one of the online class videos viewed. I'm enjoying all the 'homework' I've seen on other blogs, and feeling guilty because I am so behind.
Hugs, stay warm.

More Friends Cards

Hiya...and Brrrrr..is it cold in our area. (29F I think). Not as cold in a lot of the other places around the world, and I'm thankful to be inside where it is cozy & warm. Just finished a small bit of housework, and thought I'd take a moment to share a few more of the cards we received from some extremely talented card makers. I'll share their blog links if the creator has a blog.

Elaine's step card, which has a tiny tab on the back, allowing the card to be displayed to full view. The images are Art Impressions, and don't you love the bright yet icy colors she chose. I love these cute polar bears. The snowflakes are layered with a glittered flake behind the blue, but the photo doesn't show this well. And you all know how I love birds, and this little guy is adorable.

Next up is from Valery Anne (or Mrs. A as she's known at Pixie's Playground)..She's counts waterpistol marksmanship among her artistic talents too. (should that have been marksladyship???)

This is the cutest easel card, and you can see the flat view in center. We both just giggled when we saw the goofy expression on this critter. Loved those eyes too. Delightful card.

I've had some questions about what is the meaning of the term 'snippets' that I use on some posts. Well, in Yankee speak, we'd say "Scraps" "Leftover cuts" or something of the sort. In the UK, they are called 'Snippets', which I think sounds ever so much more fun. When I first started to blog, one kind reader directed me to the website Pixie's Crafty Workshop and suggested I submit a card.(the only requirement for the challenge is that one uses a scrappy bit - ie- snippet. Rules are very easy as is linking up).  It was the very first time I'd tried anything of the sort. Of course I managed to be a total mess-up with the process; Miss Pixie (aka Di or Diane- who does all the hardwork to maintain the challenge & offers some super prizes too) took the time to help me, explain how (and re-explain several times when I kept screwing it up!). She also generously gave her time to help me with some blogging how-to's...etc. So if you have never checked out this site, please, please do. There's so many talented folks who submit cards, projects & have really awesome blogs to browse. People there are friendly, so generous with their ideas & encouragement. It's just been a wonderful experience for me, and particularly in early days when I didn't have a clue as to what I was doing, but just needed to do something 'new'. So many people who visit there regularly have offered me such warm friendship, & many of these cards that I'm sharing - came from those lovely & wonderful card makers. So, as a New Year's treat to yourself, please take the time and visit for some fabulous inspiration--- & giggles too on occasion!

I hope to be back later with a few more cards, and I'm going to start posting a picture of the blog candy that I'd like to offer when I reach 200 followers. I've an idea about how I'm going to do it, and I hope you'll approve. In the meantime, have a super Saturday. If you're where the weather is terrible, I hope you have the opportunity to stay inside, be cozy & warm...and thankful to be so! Hugs, Hugs, Hugs. As always, thanks for the time you spent visiting here with me. MWAH!

Friends

Good afternoon, and welcome to Roxann a new follower. Thanks for joining me here, as I'm always delighted to make a new craft/card friend.

There is a pretty sketch challenge going on at Jo's Scrap Shack. By the way, Jo is having
some nice blog candy for her 200th followers goal- see pic in sidebar. Now for the  Funday Friday's Challenge. I'm not very good with sketches but this looked like one I could manage, so I made a card last night. Surprisingly, the sketch made it easier for me to think about how to arrange the card (DUH! Who knew?), but also helped me to think about what design papers to use.

I've got some snippets on this one too, so you know it's going over to Pixie's Crafty Workshop Playground to enter my 3rd card entry for a chance to win this lovely Ryn Water Droplets stamp. Woo Hoo...wouldn't it be a lovely texture stamp to have in your bag of tricks??? I've seen a Ryn water stamp used on some lovely cards at Paper Creations by Shirley. This particular post is not the same prize water droplets stamp, but a similar one by Ryn, and Shirley has done a lovely card.

OK..here's the card: (even with the sentiment on the front, I think it will work for Birthday, Thank you, or whatever...depending on what I do on the inside.)

- diecut is a new Die-Namites Daisy Bunch. This was my first try with this brand, and it cut like butter. Loved it! I used copics to color white cryogen paper diecut- which was a snippet from my rather unsuccessful water coloring adventure earlier this week. Copics worked much better on this paper.

- yellow snippet dsp diecut with a S/B small circle.

- red mat is S/B Stately Circle die on a red snippet (this dsp has a stars pattern, but you can't see it on the part that shows. Daja Vu from an earlier project.

Di's Card
Hi, and welcome to my little corner of blogland. Yesterday I mentioned a surprise I had in the mail from a British blogger friend. She very kindly sent me a totally gorgeous magazine about the Diamond Jubilee celebration. Let me say I sat and thoroughly enjoyed reading it last evening. However, as I was getting ready to throw the packing envelope away, I realized there was something else in the envelope. (And I shudder to think I nearly tossed it). There was this lovely handmade card. So simple, yet so effective. The score lines - top & bottom, do not show up as well in the scan, so I darkened the contrast. That made a little darker 'blob' around the flower image - which is not there IRL. The focal image is so sweet, colored beautifully too. Such a lovely card and it is now placed with the birthday card I also received yesterday. Anyone who comes to visit, can admire & appreciate the lovely cards I've received. As I do each time I pass by. Thanks so much, Di. (http://pixiescraftyworkshop.blogspot.com/)
