Birthday - Tattered Lace Gold Rose on Blue

Welcome and good afternoon. Hope that you all had a grand weekend. Ours was very quiet & mostly relaxing. Did some reading, worked on some cards...alas, no cleaning or housework (well aside from laundering sheets to change the bed. No biggie).

Recently I got some lovely Tattered Lace dies and here's a card with one die that I like very much.

- Tattered Lace Rose die which cut like a dream, even with all the intricacy. I did roll it back n forth a couple of times to be sure all the bits cut out well. Used some gold pearlized paper with a swirl pattern in it (think it is The Paper Studio brand - and from the snippet box). Tried different mat colors to see what made this gorgeous rose pop, and the royal blue glitter paper worked best. (It was a snippet left from removing the interior portion to get a mat for another card). This had been cut out with one of the S/B Card Creator dies.

- glittered black faux mat from the same S/B die that had cut the blue glitter paper.

-  background created using sprays and water coloring (Daler Rowney Pearlescent blue), but I wanted this rose to be the focal point. Decided to cut the background into 4 sections, but the rose wouldn't fit on a horizontal card, so this configuration had to be used. Used a Couture Creations vine EF to emboss the sprayed background prior to snipping apart.

-  Brilliance Galaxy Gold inked up an embossing folder and embossed smooth black c/which covers the card base with the same Couture Creations vine EF. The gold inking shows up quite nicely IRL.

- Starform gold sticker sentiment. The sticker sheet also had the tiny gold flowers so decided to add one on each of the sprayed pieces.

I'm taking this one over to the Snippet Playground for Week 144 and give my little buddy Parsnip a big hug! Won't you bring some of your snippety cards over to play along with us?  You will definitely see plenty to inspire you, and meet some very lovely Snippeteers as well. Lots of fun to be had, and some prizes too.

Thanks for joining me. Hope you've got a wonderful week ahead of you. Come again soon. Big Hugs

Sunflower Wreath

Welcome, and good afternoon.

I need to add a warning note about using the soda can metal, and will edit my last post to reflect this warning. Normally I don't sand the edges of the soda can die cuts but the edges can be sharp. On a small die cut that is adhered to the card base, I don't worry so much that the recipient will cut themselves. For the larger background on the gold/red Christmas tree,  all edges  & corners were sanded with a thick emory board just to insure safe handling by the recipient.

Now onto today's card:

- Northwoods image stamped with Memento Espresso Truffle, colored with copics, WoS. A second image was stamped to get extra flowers to be colored & popped up on the wreath. Mixed flowersoft in shades of Autumn (a mixture), Nut Brown, yellow and Gold Diamonds (very fine). Sunflowers centers are not all brown so tried to get some shading with the mixture. I'm not great with the flowersoft, & used a light hand applying this product.

- S/B scalloped circle die to cut out the image, used DI Scattered Straw around the edges.

- Impression Obsession clear sentiment stamped in the center.

- Cheery Lynn lattice die from a snippet. This was a center portion where something had been cut from opposite ends, so there was missing bits on tiny places of the lattice. The Sweet Cuts Elegant leaf flourish die (snippets) and the added sunflowers (from white c/s snippets from a punch, colored & 2 layers) cover the missing areas.

- Card base was textured cream card stock.

That's it folks. Have a wonderful Saturday afternoon and hope it's pleasant wherever you are. Thanks for joining me & big hugs.

Christmas Trees for Rudolph Day

Good afternoon & thanks for stopping to visit. Today is a Rudolph Day post. In case you don't know about this challenge, it's hosted by Sarn over at Stamping for Pleasure on the 25th of each month. The rules are very simple - just submit 2 Christmas cards. These rules are posted on a tab at the top of Sarn's blog.

First a little blah-blah. We've had to get our router replaced. Evidently someone had hacked into our home network. About 2 years ago we got a Smart tv, and spent a good deal of coins having the technician experts install the necessary electronics. In the course of adding the capabilities for Netflix, our router needed replacing as apparently there was a bad port. Eventually this new router was bypassed with a ?Ethernet connection? directly to the tv so as to get a stronger, faster streaming -  but we just discovered that there was a DNS port left enabled on the new router that should have been set to closed. We got a notification from our internet provider last week, which we couldn't really determine was for 'real'. That took a couple of days calling to finally get someone at the company to verify it was a REAL email - not a phish to get us to click on embedded links. (if you don't already know, be VERY wary of doing that).  Got our computer expert out to fix this - as I hadn't a clue. Decided we needed a newer, updated router - which is supposed to be the state of the art secure. Of course then all the wireless devices on the network had to be reconfigured. However, now I have to try to think everywhere that I've set up user ids and passwords, go reset them. Apparently keystrokes can be stolen with this type of breach. It's NOT a virus, but actually someone can take over your network. The way our provider found it (and apparently we were not the only victims)...they pinged the router when they saw lots of traffic being generated by it. So that's why I've had a low profile here lately.

OK..now let me welcome a new follower: Miss Sarah of Craft Nerd Creates.  Sarah has just recently added the Google Followers' Gadget to her blog, and would love to have you pop in to say hello and perhaps add some new faces to populate her following list. Plus she has a delicious pumpkin pie recipe on a project that you might enjoy trying. You'll enjoy scrolling through her card posts I promise!

Now onto the Rudolph cards:

- PB Slapstick Cling Tannenbaum image - stamped on black with Versamark, covered with gold Perfect pearls. This gold PP has a rather 'greenish' tinge to it, but it IS gold! Used red WoLuna to color the ornaments. Recolored using red Smooch. Die cut with a Grand Oval. Used a WOW embossing pen around the edges, then Ranger Queen's Gold EP was embossed. The sentiment is a Starform sticker.

- Background is soda can metal*, colored with alcohol inks - a rather largish snippet.  Then embossed with a Darice EF. Wasn't sure how the metal would take the embossing, but it worked well.  The downside is that since the metal was shaped into a can originally, it wants to curl. Have been sort of bending it back, but as you can see, that also affects the oval - you can see some 'cracking' on the black image. Oh well, we'll call it 'rustic'. Red bow, red rhinestone topper.

Edit: warning note about using the soda can metal.

 - same image, dusted with Pearl perfect pearls, blue WoLuna, then covered with blue smooch. The Pearl color had a silver cast, but it's the Pearl color. Sentiment is a silver Starform sticker.

- background was created by using #98 Canson paper; wet slightly, spread water colors from a water color set in a pallete. After this dried, used some Daler Rowney Pearlescent blue (a new product purchased from Joggles - fast shipping too); diluted it with water on a craft mat, and spread over the first water color, let it dry. (this was a play session). Continued to add 2 more coats of the Daler Rowney Pearlescent blue to get this result. Embossed using a new 8x8 Embossalicious folders. Because of the size, the Grand Calibur had to be hauled out, videos viewed to see the sandwich requirements. This did emboss beautifully I'm happy to report.

- the silver ribbon has a velvety texture, and a blue rhinestone topper finished this one.

Ok, I'm off to link up at Rudolph Day for September 2014  and also at the Snippets Playground Week 143.  These are two of my favorite challenge places - with such lovely people to chat with, and marvelous inspiration to enjoy. I really miss these folks when I don't have the time to go visit! So please come along and have some fun with us.

Happy weekend, and God Bless. Hugs

Birthday - Fall Leaves

Good morning - welcome - and I hope your weekend was wonderful. We needed a birthday card fast, nothing in the stash was just what I wanted to use, & there were some gold outline stickers by Starform handy on the desk. Those leaves were the jump off for this card.

-Colored the outlines and innards with a set of pens I've had for years, forgot I had them. They were specifically marketed to color stickers, but I think they could be used for other products too. The colors are quite bright, and I combined some of them to make different shades. Tried to use a Copic gray to tone down the brightness, but the alcohol marker removed the color. Ooops.  Once colored, the outline pieces were removed and placed on black card stock. Then very tediously (especially on the acorn caps) the other bits were removed and placed in their proper places. It got a little tricky where the maple leaf covers the oak leaf, as I started placing the maple bits in first. Had to rethink, lift up some pieces, and put in the oak pieces first. I guess I could have just left those bits out, as the maple leaf would have covered. But...I couldn't do that!!! (dunno why - OCD I expect!)
Don't know what those white specs are on the black...can't see them on the card.

- corners snipped with a punch, added tiny yellow rhinestones, plus one in the center of the oaf leaf.

- copper pearl paper trimmed for the mat, then some of the Paper Studio fall motif paper to cover the top fold card base.

- sentiment is also a very old sheet of stickers. This one needs to go in the mail today!!!

Ya'll have a great day, thanks for visiting & big cyber hugs.

Winter Wonderland

Good morning, and today is a Christmas Card Club Sunday. The lovely Christine of Christine's Cards and Crafts selected our theme for this challenge to be a Winter Wonderland. So here's my card for Christine's challenge:

- Sponged the sky background with Memento inks in Lulu Lavender, Angel pink, Summer Sky blue and Bahama blue. Used a q-tip to add just a tiny touch of dandelion in the mix.

- Memory Box curved treeline stamp, restamped without reinking to get the horizon trees. The foreground trees were from an SU set bought at a recent consignment sale, and all the stamping was done with Memento London Fog.

- the snow was sponged with the summer sky and then under those touches, lightly touched with London Fog for a shadow.

- Impression Obsession Grazing deer were die cut from a snippet of silver glitter paper.  MB star from a snippet of silver mirror paper and the Joanna Sheen sentiment from the same silver glitter as the deer. Two layers of the sentiment were glued together for some dimension, and rhinestones added.

- Copic BV000 added some shadows and a white gel pen added some snow on the trees.

- Royal blue glitter mat had the central portion removed for use in another card project.

If time permits, please visit my Christmas Card team (listed in the side bar) to enjoy some other cards interpreting this Winter Wonderland theme.

As always, thanks for joining me today. Blessings to all who visit here. Hugs too.

Anniversary with Fall Colors

Welcome Saturday..I hope your weekend has started off great. We have a family anniversary coming up next month, and since I'm thinking Fall colors, that was the theme for this card. Kept it simple so that the colors & the texture would show to advantage.

- Background created with Dylusions & some gold tattered angels.

- gold embossing paste - has a bit of a gritty texture & is a Viva product found in Walmart - done over a MB mesh stencil. This has been my best effort with the embossing paste to date.

- Alcohol ink over soda can - die cut leaf.

- Gold glitter sentiment. Happy is from a Joanna Sheen die -part of a Happy Birthday set. Anniversary is also J. Sheen die. I tried to cut these with the soda can metal, but it was very difficult to get them out of the dies without breaking the metal pieces. Happy worked ok, but the anniversary was too fiddly and broke in the middle as I tried to release it. The cut out pieces did not cut through well either. Enough aggravation, so I used a snippet of the gold glitter! I also don't like fussing with saving the tiny bits for the 'i' so I usually just use a rhinestone or pearl. Saves on the nerves! (got that idea from my Pixie friend over at the Pixie's Crafty Workshop - aka the Snippets Playground. So thank Diane. )

Ya'll come back when you can set a spell, now heah? Have a great day and big hugs.

Roses - and Colored Pencils

Hooray for Friday! Do you have plans for a wonderful weekend? Here's wishing for some super weather to enjoy whatever it is that you may be doing.

My pedicure /manicure yesterday was much better than the first one I had (at another shop). After watching on the first visit the operator just took the loose instruments from a drawer at the table, I became concerned with how the tools had been cleaned (whether they had been sterilized or sanitized properly after being used on another customer). When I called for a repeat appointment, I asked about this, and the person answering the phone said I'd have to speak with the manager - who was out just then. I thought "Hmmm, everyone in that shop should be able to answer that question." So I called another place and asked this question, got the info I hoped to hear and made an appointment. The tools used on me were taken from a sealed bag - and I was informed that the tools are cleaned with antiseptic, then put into some kind of an autoclave - in the bag, and the heat seals the bag until it is opened to use on a customer. Right answer! The technician at the 2nd shop, was much more thorough in what she did with the cuticles on hands & feet, did some wonderful treatment on my dry heel skin - so I'm glad I went to a different place.

I'm still trying to work with colored pencils now & again. Today's card is an image I colored some time ago, wasn't happy with it, but decided it would be ok on a card. Here goes:

The image did not stamp crisply, even using the stamp press. Believe this is one bought at a garage sale - in a bag with some other stamps.  I think Derwent Colorsoft pencils were used on the image, but it was difficult to see on the image just where to shade and highlight. I finally used a white gel pen to add some highlights after finishing the coloring.  On this image,I tried to touch the white to the image, then blot it with my finger so there's not a harsh white mark. This may be something others knew to do already. After moving the image out of my way for a whle, I decided what the heck, make a card with it.

- Die cut the opening of the card base with a S/B classic square & adhered the image behind the opening. Used Gold Squares One to emboss the center opening after die cutting. I'm not very successful with those gold dies that just emboss. (these are different from the S/B Imperial gold which do cut & emboss).  I've yet to have one work well to give a nice embossed edge. I like the S/B Imperial Gold dies, but not the Gold Squares or Ovals. Probably operator error, but I've viewed the S/B tutorials so many times and STILL can't get these to work well. Any suggestions???

- Swiped Memento Angel Pink over the embossing folder, and then ran the card front through the Big Shot. This covered up the previous embossing that was just around the square opening (from the Gold square failure).

- MB leaf & Dee's Distinctively swirls were cut from white snippet and sprayed with Lindy's Starburst sprays in greens and pinks. This will be a  good card to have in the stash and can be adapted for whatever occasion is needed.

Thanks for joining me today, and Big Hugs.

Falling Leaves

Good afternoon and a warm welcome to Pam of Pamscrafts  who is my newest follower. Pam has just joined the Poppy Stamps as a Design Team member, and my goodness, you must see how she uses these awesome dies to create some wonderful cards.

Today's card is back on the Fall theme...

Penny Black Falling Leaves cling stamp inked with Memento Espresso Truffle ink, colored with copics. Die cut with S/B Decorative label 34. Used copics to stencil some color around the edges, and not sure I'm liking that look after it was done.  Image is popped up on dimensional foam. As I'm seeing the photo, I'm noticing that the coloring needs more contrast too, it's way too pale for a fall card. May have to go back and touch up with some darker shading.

- S/B Curved Brackets for the border edging. Two of the dies were placed together to cut the green border. The bottom placement die cut the pierced edge while the top die cut the decorative element. This is the first time I've tried using 2 of the border dies together to make a cut.

- Leaf buttons from a $1.00 Walmart bag, and the top small leaf is close to the same yellow color as the edging on the sentiment, although it looks tan in the photo. The DP in the top left is a fall design that was purchased from Walmart - probably Paper Studio. A piece of that was cut with the bracket dies and trims the bottom edge of the inside.

Computer generated sentiment punched with a SU punch, distressed with distress ink.

Think this card might fit in with the Penny Black and More Autumn Colors Challenge, so will be linking there. And since this stamp is a few years old, and I don't think I've ever inked it up before, it's also going over to Our Darnell's http://www.djkardkreations.com/2014/09/nbus-challenge-2-here-we-go.html - she's celebrating reaching the 600 followers milestone. I hope you'll check out both these challenges and find time to play along.

In the meantime, big hugs and have a wonderful afternoon. I'm off to get a pedicure (tole ya I was gonna try to find a way to fund this indulgence!) Thanks for visiting.

Cemetary - Halloween

Welcome, and thanks for stopping to visit today. We're working on Halloween cards at our house -  so here's another one to share.  But first: A big warm welcome to Connie of Crafty Home Cottage. I just met Connie through another blogger's TCBH blog (Kay of 505whimsygirl). I am so enjoying reading all these Monday posts to learn more about my blogging friends and in the process, making some new friends. What fun. Check out Connie's blog, because she has some spiffy makeovers for lots of things you have around your house, and some really interestin' schtuff.

- Stampendous wooden cemetery stamp, inked with Versafine black - stamped using Bonnie's stamp press - over a Dylusions and Lindy's starburst sprayed index card. Edged with DI weathered wood and soot. irResistible pico clear liquid applied over the 31, dark spots on the skeleton and some of the tombstones. IRL this gives a bit of shine.

- Halloween phrases were from Silhouette online store, resized for the card, and some of the elements of the purchased phrase were ungrouped and discarded (oh, I'm trying to learn). Cut from white card stock, colored with Copic 110 black, and then used Black Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel - 2 coats for the shine.

- Purchased Recollection crows were added, and the gold thing-ys were also from a Recollection Halloween pack.

- Black mat had the inside portion removed, and then this was adhered to a chartreuse card base.

Hope you like it. Have a wonderful day, and big hugs to all my sweet visitors.

Dance Macabre

Welcome to my Monday afternoon. We had a very quiet weekend, a bit cooler temps, and DH has been wrestling with a bad migraine off & on. Thankfully he seems better today, so hopefully the prescription that he got on Friday evening is finally beginning to take effect.

Today's card is done with a stamp that Mr. picked out at Michael's, using a 40% coupon. It's a rather large Stampendous wood stamp, and the background was done with some sprays, then inked with Versafine Black.

- background created from Dylusions and Lindy's Starburst sprays on a lightweight index card (an experimental spray session).

- Stampendous Dance Macawbre inked with Versafine Black ink, and stamped using Bonnie's Best Stamp press since it is quite a large stamp. Was not sure how this ink would work with the sprayed background, and it could have shown up a bit darker I think. The stamp was well inked, so the lightness has to be due to either the paper or the sprayed background.

- edges inked with DI weathered wood and black soot using a sponge, and some irResistible Pico clear fluid was applied in some of the areas - not showing well in the photo, but looks quite nice IRL. (It's on the umbrella, handle, dark spots on the skeleton and on the bottom scroll design).

- lettering cut with the Silhouette, using white cardstock. Colored with Copic 110, then applied black UTEE - 2 coats - for shine & dimension.

- black mat - interior portion removed, on a chartreuse card base. Done! One down for Halloween.
Can I just say I don't like skeletons or any spooky stuff like this, but DH does...Halloween is his holiday. Hmmm...wonder what that means???

Ya'll have a great afternoon, and thanks for joining me. Come again when you can. Blessings and hugs.

Fall Wreath

Good morning and welcome to my Sunday morning. Today's card share is a wreath made with the Silhouette and used very simply on a cream card base.

- the wreath is a Silhouette design from their online store, cut from a brown textured lightweight paper. Some orange Smooch was used on the berries - several layers to make a bright glisten.  (I have always loved the color of bittersweet and this orange look puts me in mind of the bittersweet wreaths we have).

- card base is a cream Recollection card stock, embossed with an Anna Griffin border that came with a matching embossing folder.

-  Impression Obsession clear stamp inked with Versamark, and heat embossed with my favorite Ranger Queen's Gold EP. (this clear set doesn't have a name that I can locate, but it's basically fall & Thanksgiving themed images).

The little pumpkin perched by the photo was in a recent Happy Mail that came from Brenda W of Inkspired to Stamp. (Her pretty chalk embossed card is shared in the Cards by Friends - click on the top tab).

Thanks for joining me on a Sunday morning, and I wish for you a day of happiness, sunshine and hugs from someone you love. Blessings.

DeeDee's Digi Challenge of the Month for September 2014

HiYa, and welcome. Help me say a warm hello to a new follower and thanks so much for joining my following list. Please do drop by to say hello to:

One other request I'd like to ask of my followers is to say some strong prayers for one of our blog friends, Jill of Ribbon Challenged.  Jill is having to deal with a rough patch of health issues just at the moment and both she & Irish Cherokee  are in need of some uplifting in prayer to get through this time. I would also greatly appreciate knowing all our friends are sending up some power prayers for them at this time. We can all use prayer in our lives, and there's strong power when so many voices uplift. Thank you.

Now the card for today is another PRECOLORED Deedee's digi (one of the designs on the September Challenge of the month's set).

Image was printed on GP cardstock, die cut with an MFT pierced oval. Some copic added shading, WoS for a bit of glimmer, and some white gel pen for the cider froth.

Design papers are also from DeeDee's Digis Hay Ride and were snippets from an earlier card. It's great to know these files are on the computer and can be printed off any time for a project.

- dies are from Tattered Lace Winter Florals (maple leaves and pinecones) and a new set of Prima dies that just came in the mail (the oak leaf).

- Red hearts were brown die cut snippets from another project, and a couple of layers of red Smooch covered up the brown quite nicely.

Computer generated sentiment was die cut with a S/B banner die, interior portion sponged with DI Tea Dye.

A very easy card to make indeed, once I started. I'll say it again: Love having the precolored images.

Please check the top tab of Cards by Friends to see a sweet card that came from Brenda W. of Inkspired to Stamp. Her beautiful card arrived with some added little surprises, and on a day when I needed a good cheer up too. Thanks Brenda, for thinking of us.

Don't forget that it's not too late to play along with the September Challenge at DeeDee's Digis.
You can purchase this month's featured set for just $1.25 in the shop. If you participated in last month's challenge, you should have already received this featured set in your email (but if you participated last month and haven't received your set, please contact DeeDee - as sometimes thing can go wrong with email.). This is a great way to have some fun and build up your digi collection too. The Design Team has some fabulous inspiration for you, using this cute set, plus there's a new release for the month as well. Do check it out.

Thanks for joining me this afternoon. Hope your day is going just swell. Blessings & Hugs.

Thank You cards

Good evening, and thanks for joining me. Let's start off by welcoming a new follower, Miss Bibiana of Stamping with Bibiana. I'm sure that many of you already know about this fabulously talented lady, but on the chance you have missed her blog, PLEASE visit right now. You'll be so happy you did. And thanks Bibiana, for joining here as a new follower.

I had done some cards that were mailed out, and since I know they've been received now, I'd like to share them this evening. These were sent to some of my VIP's - whom I feel so blessed to have met in Blogland.

The flower pots image is a Northwoods stamp, colored with copics, WoS and die cut with a Sizzix die. In #1 card, the background was created with Dylusions & other spray products, then after drying well, embossed with a folder. A S/B die created the lacey mat, and the sentiment was stamped and cut from the same design paper.

On the 2nd flower pot card, I used design paper, the reverse of the same paper for the MS border punching. The image was colored with copics, WoStella and just a tiny amount of DI distressing on the edges. I kept this card simple as it was international mailing, so not too many layers on it.

The center card:  The PB Wildflower cling image was stamped with Versamark, heat embossed with Sparkle n Sprinkle Belgian Crème EP. Then sponged Distress Inks on #98 Canson Mixed Media paper, spritzed with a gold spray, Once this dried, the embossed area was wiped off with a baby wipe. The faux mat was cut from a snippet of another sprayed paper, that has some gleam to it. A script background stamp was inked with Memento Desert Sand, stamped on the card base and the sentiment stamped with a Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink that sort of matched the blue of the Distress Ink. I don't usually have success in trying to stamp with Distress Inks. They always seem 'too dry' to me to stamp, even though I've just reinked the pad.

So I hope you've enjoyed these cards. I had fun making them, and I hope the recipients enjoyed receiving them. They expressed some deep appreciation on my part for some lovely folks. That's it for tonight. Catch you later. Hugs & have a wonderful Wednesday.

DeeDee's September Challenge of the Month - Fall Warm Up

Hi once again. Changing hats (and seasons) to share a card made with DeeDee's September Challenge of the Month Fall Warm up set.  This is another delightful digi, with precolored images but also includes outline images if you prefer to use your own colors. This Month, DeeDee's gang is celebrating the (almost) start of Fall with a little chipmunk friend. He is keeping warm as the weather turns cooler dressed in his fluffy green sweater & sipping his yummy cup of cider.

I am finding that it's lovely to have a precolored image to jazz up a little if I wish (or not), and make a card - since I'm rather a slow card maker. I'm still relatively new to the world of Digi. I'm happy to say that while these images are quite suited to my own taste in design, they are also easy to use.  I've read many ways that digis can be embossed or otherwise changed up (which I don't know how to do -- YET!),  I've simply been using them printed off on white cardstock, then adding more shading or embellishment. Easy-Peasy.

- Image printed, die cut with an MFT pierced oval, shaded with DI blues around the edges. Some copics used for shading within this cheeky Chipmunk and his cup of cider. (WoS, WoL).

- Lil Inker Stitched Small Sunshine  die, (white c/s was colored with copics, added WoS).

-Tattered Lace Winter Florals (white c/s, colored with copics & shaped a bit with a stylus).

- Computer generated sentiment was die cut with a S/B label die.

- white card base covered with a 6x6 WeRMemory Keepers Anthologie pattern paper.

You can purchase this month's featured set for just $1.25 in DeeDee's shop. If you participated in last month's challenge, you should have already received this set in your email. (If you participated but didn't receive the set yet, please contact DeeDee as sometimes things do go wrong with email).

I'm off to link up this Chipmunk at DeeDee's Digi of the Month Challenge, and also
at Darnell's NBUS Challenge #2. . I hope you'll find time to join in the fun at both places.

Once again, many thanks for spending some time with me this afternoon; I love reading your comments if you've time to leave one. I will do my best to get back on visits to enjoy my visitors' creations too. Big September Hugs.

Edit: Found out from Our Darnell that this fall card would fit in the The Paper Players Challenge  Happy Fall theme so linked there as my 3rd  challenge link. Thanks Darnell!

Christmas Card Club with a DeeDee's Digi Snowman

Hello on a pleasantly cool Sunday afternoon. Today is the bi-monthly Christmas Card Club Challenge, and today our challenge theme was to be something with "S"...selected by our own Hazel.

DeeDee's Digi-s had the cutest Caroling Snowman that was just waiting for an opportunity to be put to work. This "S" challenge seemed perfect, so here is - Ta-DA...Mr. Caroling Snowman and his Snowflakes.

- PRECOLORED image(oh I LOVE those!) shaded with some copics, WofLuna & WofStella, with a bit of red Smooch on his heart buttons. Stickles Stardust on the falling snowflakes as well as the snowbank Mr. Snowbank rests upon. Some Sparkle n Sprinkle Twinkling Clouds sprinkled over the wet Stickles to add some snow. This product does create a very realistic snow look. Mr. Snowman was die cut with a S/B die, embossed the edges and then while still in the die, sponged on some DI Stormy Skies.

- Die-Versions Snow Flurries - smallest of the dies - from a snippet of silver mirror paper. These 2 dies from a 5 die set were just the right size to fit in places of the snippet so that more of it could be used.

- Darice Sheet Music EF was covered with Memento Danube Blue ink, then a piece of white c/stock was embossed. This folder was not large enough to look well with the size of Mr. Snowman, so it was split in half, and a snowflake design paper from MME's 6x6 'Tis the Season was embossed with another Darice Holly EF (you can't really see the embossing- sorry!), then an MS border punch was used on each edge.

- Greeting is from the same set as the Caroling Snowman, die cut with a S/B die. Used some blue ink to stencil around the die before removing from the S/B. Sideways placement to avoid covering up Mr. S.

This little guy will be linked to the Snippets Playground Week 141 since the snowflakes & the sentiment were cut from Snippets.

Come to think of it, there's a NBUS challenge #2 going on over at Our Darnell's place and I've wanted to join in the fun. Since the Die-Version die is definitely a NBUS, as is the Sheet Music EF, I think I'm gonna jump in.

There's a new September Challenge going on over at DeeDee's that you might want to check out & perhaps enter. I'll be back later with the featured digi of the month over at DeeDee's.

In the meantime, sending Big Hugs and prayers that you are enjoying a marvelous afternoon, and getting ready to face whatever the coming week has awaiting you. As always, many thanks for joining me today.

EDIT: I'm trying to do too many things this afternoon! I forgot to say you can see the Christmas Club Member list over in the right sidebar, and if you've got a few moments, do check out the links and enjoy some delightful Christmas cards with something "S".

DeeDee's Digi-s Autumn Praises

Good Morning, and we're on the downside of the week headed for the weekend. I've been taking a little blog break, doing a little technique playing & just generally being lazy. I'd like to welcome some new followers and thank them so much for joining me on my journey through Blogland.

Please take a few minutes to visit & say hello to these crafty folks and enjoy some beautiful inspiring work. Esther & Liz are part of The Creative Blog Hop this week, so you'll be learning about what brought these ladies into crafting and Blogland.

The card today has one of DeeDee's Digi-s from the August 2014 release, and is one I really loved a lot. It was so easy to think of lots of ways to use it, and here's what my first idea turned out to be.

- DeeDee's Digis Autumn Praises  from the August 2014 release, precolored, but of course I added some copic shading. Printed several copies, cut out one and did the shading & a bit of stylus shaping. The 2nd image was die cut with a Cheery Lynn scalloped rectangle die, airbrushed the background with Copics E41 and E40. Used a mask to spray E55 just on the scalloped edges to make a little frame. Then popped the previously shaded fussy cut image over the top. After this a few WoStellas added some glimmer & shine.

- S/B pumpkin die used to cut a piece of Canson #98 mixed media paper. Covered with a clear gesso, let it dry. Used a Memory Box screen stencil to apply some white gesso in spots (I'm still trying with this stuff, and this is the first time I've achieved a decent result. I think because I just did the process in spots, quickly lifted the stencil straight up immediately. Usually at this point I managed to smear the works!). Let this dry for a few hours, then used a copper Stempel paint to cover the punkin part, and some green for the stem.

- the die cut letters were done with the Silhouette Cameo (my friend challenged me to get my backside in gear and JUST USE IT!) Well this is my first effort - ever - outside of class. I hope you'll see more of this kind of thing in future.

- Soda can leaf die cut, previously colored with alcohol inks.

- background papers from 2 autumn 6x6 packs- cut in triangles to fit the cardbase. EK Success notebook edge punch was added after my first photo showed just a smidge of the white cardbase at the very top. Daggone, thought the base had been covered well until I took the first photo, and peeking out at the top was a tiny gleam of white. Had to carefully lift the die cut punkin to sneak under that border trim to cover the white bit. Luckily it lifted ok, as did the letters. Whew!

DeeDee has a new September Challenge going on. This month, we're celebrating the (almost) start of Fall with our little chipmunk friend. He is keeping warm as the weather turns cooler with his fluffy, green sweater and his yummy cup of cider.

You can purchase this month's featured set for just $1.25 in the shop. If you participated in last month's challenge, you should have already received this set in your email. (If you participated but didn't receive the set, please contact DeeDee -- sometimes things do go wrong with email). Some of DeeDee's designers made projects to help get you thinking about how you might use this set. I love seeing what they do with the featured set each month -- don't you?!?! There will be more inspiration each week throughout the challenge as well, so be sure to check back!

Thanks for popping by to visit this morning, and do have a wonderful afternoon. It's certainly porch swing weather at our house, even though after several very pleasantly cool days, it got hot & muggy again. God Bless, and Many Hugs until next time.
