More St. Patrick's Day Brusho Fun

Happy Tuesday, and please help me say a Warm Hello to some lovely new followers, whom I hope you'll have time to visit...

I'm so happy to have you all join me on this fun journey throughout Blogland. It's always so exciting to see new faces, meet some new friends, and enjoy wonderful inspiration with the diversity of talents seen on new blogs. So Sweet Visitor, please do pop over to say Hi to these talented Bloggers.

Today's card uses a background created on an earlier Brusho play date. Here goes:

- Brusho background using green & blue crystals over wet. Think this one may have started with a Dylusions yellow sprayed background. (This is the 'master' piece, that I mopped up the excess runoff with a brush, swiping over another white piece of watercolor cardstock. You saw that result on an earlier card).  By the way, what I have been using is a Bristol Smooth paper. I want to try using a glossy piece next play day, as I saw a wonderful result here using glossy paper. Do take a peek at this beauty.

- over air dried background, placed TCW Mini Ceiling Tile stencil, swiped Versamark over the openings. Then pounced Pan Pastel chalks using yellows & golds. Loved the way it looked. Let it dry for a bit, then inked up Stampendous Agapanthus Cluster with a Turquoise ink, stamped. The Staz-On worked well to get a good impression. Had tried Memento ink on an earlier effort, not great results (could have been the Operator --however.. the Staz-On worked better for me).

- Older wooden stamp sentiment - no name.

- Again with the Frantage - using Stampendous Powder Blue. Sprinkled a bit over the surface, heated it from behind (blows off if you try to heat it from the front!). Well, it's stuck pretty well, but I'm still not pleased with the results of this product -- in my hands anyway. After I saw it, wished I had left it off. I keep trying to get the fantastic look I see on so many blogs as I surf through Blogland.

- Decided to add a green ribbon bow, and daggone it, once it stuck fast, saw that it had covered up part of the sentiment. Have a lucky ?what? - Hope the recipient sees that there is a Day hidden under the ribbon!! This one was so much fun to create the background.

Now for a little chit-chat: I have movies & books that I periodically will either re-read or rewatch. Example: Gone With the Wind - re-read and re-watch the movie about every 5 years or so. Driving Miss Daisy, Fried Green Tomatoes, and To Kill a Mockingbird are just a few others. Recently TKaMockingbird was on television, so recorded it on the DVR (we have the dvd, but too lazy to hunt it up!). Enjoyed the performance of every actor in the movie and remembered when I first read the book in 1962, as a senior in High School. I think it's just as relevant today as it was so long ago. I always get misty-eyed at the end. This is my favorite of Gregory Peck's movies. Anyone else love these oldies????

Think I'll pop over to The Mixed Media Challenge with this card, as the March Challenge is Hints of Spring. Hey, I have greens & gold on it, that signals Springtime, right????

Ya'll have a grand day. Thanks for stopping in, God Bless & Hugs too.

  1. This is gorgeous Mary. Love the colours. I have only just received my brushos and only had a little dabble but so far loving them.
I often rewatch Gone With the Wind but unfortunately we packed a lot of our dvds away for a guy to do some work in the room so cannot get to them. We have been waiting for him since beginning of January.

  3. Gorgeous card Mary! The background is just fabulous.

Haven't seen any of those films for such a long time. I think we've got a couple on video - that's how long ago we bought them! I must dig them out sometime, they don't make films like that any more. xx

  23. What lovely inky fun you had here Mary, not to mention the lush greens which yell out Spring.

Brushos really are such fun and you never know what's coming out each time and I can confirm you get some great finishes on gloss cardstock.

  28. I've been away on a little trip but checked to see what I missed while away. I'm trying to catch up now.

Your card is fabulous and I know you did have fun making it. I'm sure the recipient will see the "day" on your sentiment. Drat it...hate when things like that happen, though.

  29. Such a pretty pot of shamrocks and I love the snail. I know you are having so much fun with the Brushos. You're so clever to get the run-off for a second card.
I meant to say on your last card I commented on that I just almost never re-read or re-watch anything but I liked Driving Miss Daisy and maybe could watch it and Gone with the Wind again.

  30. Hi Mary,
    oh this is is gorgeous.
All that lovely inked work background is fab, and your stamps are great too.
Just a fab card for St Patrick's Day.
I am trying to think up a card for my Grandson who is 18 on that day.
I need your fab background for sure.
I too love the olden day movies, and actors, who made them.
Always been an avid movie fan.
I have been watching some good ones lately on Netflix which we have had for just over a month now.
But I am no prude, and some of the things they put in the movies nowadays makes my hair curl, as in the olden days it was left to your own imagination, and quite rightly so.
Well I am on my soap box again sorry.
Lots of crafty love to you and yours. Jenny L.

  31. This is a beautiful card Mary and the background is so pretty and makes me think of Spring immediately. The Agapanthus over the top is a lovely focal point too. I do remember seeing that film on the tv a long time ago and I agree Gregory Peck was terrific in it. Our DS studied the book as part of his English exam at 16 but I have to say at the time he didn't really enjoy the book, probably due to the fact that he had to study it in great detail and over a long period of time. x

  32. Love the texture, the background, the pattern and the hidden Day LOL.

I have just watched a 1940's film "The Bishops Wife, with Loretta Young, David Niven and with Cary Grant as an Angel. A little sob and a laugh, loved it. It was on TV over Xmas, but I forgot I had it recorded.

  35. Wow Momma Mary, this card is gorgeous! I am so loving that background, the colors are so rich and I love that pattern! I also love your flower image that you have stamped on, is the Frantage the white pieces?? I have never tried Frantage so I don't know anything about it. lol I have seen it on other cards in blogland too and love it. Your bow is pretty too, and I can see the start of "day" so I'm sure the recipient will too. I think it is a gorgeous card! Hugs, Brenda

  36. The colors are fantastic, very eye catchy! I wouldn't have noticed the bow hides a little bit of the sentiment, I don't think it matters. Beautiful card.

  43. Beautiful card. I too have a love/ hate relationship with Frantage. I love the backgrounds you are creating with the Brusho.

I too love old movies, although I think I prefer Gregory Peck in Roman Holiday. And I recently got to see Casablanca on the big screen as a local theater does classic movies on Tuesday nights.
