Christmas Card Club - Christmas Scene

Hello & Welcome. Two weeks have passed so it's time for another Christmas Club Card. Our theme for June 7, 2015 - A Christmas Scene - was chosen by our sweet Kate. Since we've been just a bit busy at our house of late with some house maintenance & lawn work, (which is why I've not been around this week)..decided to look through my saved stacks of old Christmas cards. Found several that would have been suitable for this challenge, but finally decided on the one below. Love it when I can repurpose a beautiful card. Hope you'll like it...and also hope that you'll have time to visit my fellow Club members to see their ideas on a Christmas Scene.

- Recycled card was die cut with a Sue Wilson Ornate Pierced Design (Noble Collection). The very top & bottom of the die cut was trimmed away, and the die pierced design was repeated on these areas with a piercing tool and a SU piercing mat. The black faux mat (snippet) was done by tracing the outside of the die, fussy cutting. Did the same top & bottom trim. Dark brown just didn't pop the color of the sepia-gold tones of the scene with the red background - black did.

- Red background was done by spraying a gold over the Winsor Newton Gallery watercolor paper to wet it, then sprinkling Red & Vermillion Brusho crystals into the wet surface. After these 2 colors had bloomed for a bit, there was still some wet surface, so Lemon Brusho was sprinkled over. Used the Ranger Spritzer tool to move the puddles around, then a heat tool. This is really a sparkling red piece, but alas, doesn't show well in the photo.

- Elizabeth Craft holly die (white snippet colored with a gold pen and then red WoS pen). Didn't think I could get a green that would look well with the sepia colors, so just used gold. Again, it's not photographing well.

- MBox small poinsettia die (same white snippet) colored with the gold pen, then a green WoLuna pen. No sentiment on the outside - the inside verse will be sufficient I think.

- Kraft card base and it's done! So that's it for me. Hope you will have a wonderful Sunday, perhaps spend it with your family. Check the sidebar for my fellow members' cards, and also check the Cards by Friends tab at the top for a new card. Thanks for joining me today. Big hugs.

  11. Oh Mary, you really recycled a gorgeous image. I love the brusho's. Thanks for the tip about tracing around the outside of the die. That's one of those "why didn't I think of that" things but so clever. Sometimes the next size up die is just too big so this works so well. Sounds like you need a day of rest from all the work you've been doing. I have weeds to pull and it is suppose to rain tonight, so maybe I can get out there tomorrow when the ground is softer. Or not!

  16. This is very pretty Mary and the upcycled Christmas card image is perfect and the background you have created has such gorgeous colours. The light colours of the poinsettias and holly make them show up to perfection against the darker colours. Hope you are having a good weekend. x

  45. This is gorgeous! Such a nice vintage scene. I saved a bunch of fronts from cards too and then the other day realized I have too many Christmas stamps and papers to fuss with the card fronts too. None of mine were this cool though.
