Thinking of You - with Flowers

Good evening. Happy to report that DH is safely back in the house again, after a nice time away. Said it was very productive, with lots of projects started & finished, and some fun times going to big flea markets, estate sales, eating some yummy New England foods. Not great news to report on the bathroom project: what little that had been done, had to come out. (floor pan had been installed - then the greenboard drywall, and marble folks had shown up to replace the walls). I noticed something that I questioned. Contractor said "can work with this". Repeated what he said to the marble fellas who were to install the walls, and they started shaking their heads "No you can't do it that way". So after a conversation with all concerned parties...decision was made to remove what had been done, do the floor in that area first - so things will fit. Not happy at all, BUT glad that it was caught before walls had to be removed again..

DH asked me to do a card for a family bereavement for the folks in New England, so here's today's card.

- Hero Arts You're So Lovely clear stamp set - inked with HA ombre inks, and Memento inks. Stamped foliage using the Mini Misti. Flowers cut out, applied with dimensional tape. (didn't want to bother with masking, so that's why the flowers were just hand cut).

- upper corner was an old Stampscape branch inked with Memento greens.

- HLS Thinking of You stamped with Memento Northern Pine ink, using the Mini Misti

- purchased card base stamped with IO Cover a Card Diagonal Lines, inked with Memento green.

Card is in the mail...pretty easy to stamp and assemble. I LIKE easy.

Thanks for joining me this afternoon. Hope your weekend has been great. Quiet around here, but nice to have things somewhat back to normal. Hugs & Blessings.

  1. Sorry for your floor,Mary, I wish you to have your home repaired soon!
Quick and easy card, but so beautiful! love your own backround, I thought that it was a dp!! Lovely flowers and foliage! The Misti is a great resource. My handmade misti is still to repair. I think I will put my hands on it in July, when I will have time to stay at home, finally! :D

  4. This is a very thoughtful card to send and that your hubby mentioned this for you to do. It is lovely and sweet. There is always something when it comes to renos. I hate that especially since it means more money and time. I hope it will get fixed up soon enough.

  5. So sorry about the bathroom issues, but hopefully all will be resolved now that the problems have been discussed. Better to ask/act now before it's all installed wrong! Glad the hubs made it back home safely too. What a pretty card this one is! I really like those layered swirly florals and that soft diagonal-design card base makes the perfect backdrop for them! I like easy too :)

  20. The pretty flowers and foliage and that lovely large sentiment are perfect for this sympathy card Mary and what a great idea to stamp the diagonal stripes on the base card too. Sorry your bathroom is proving to be rather a nightmare but at least you managed to sort a potential problem before it happened, and glad your DH arrived home safely from his trip. x

  23. No, I can't imagine that you are happy with everything having to be torn back out for the bathroom Momma Mary! But thankfully they weren't any farther along. I guess it is the small things we have to be thankful for. But I can guess this bathroom mess is getting quite old now. I love your beautiful card Momma Mary! It is a perfect thinking of you card. The flowers and leaves are so pretty. I'm not sure if I would know how to use those kinds of flowers. lol But you have made them look amazing. I'm sure they will appreciate the card too. Hugs, Brenda

  25. Oh, yuck, what a fiasco with the bathroom! I'm sorry it isn't going smoothly, Mary, but thank goodness you spoke up about it so it could be done the right way! You really have to watch everything nowadays and you couldn't have done that from New England, so it's good you didn't go. I'm glad Joe made it home safe and sound!

Your sympathy/toy card is really wonderful! Those are hard to make and this one is lovely! Hugs, Darnell

  27. This is a very sweet card, sorry it for such a sad occasion. I'm sure you are heartsick about the bathroom re-do. I know it is a nightmare but you are right that it is best to catch it early and get fixed now rather than after all the parts are in.

  28. The worse thing about home improvements is the people who do them, for example ... mu Hubby, I think I would rather deal with any one but him, even if it has to be all done again.
Gorgeous card, love the touch of the leaves at the top.

  33. Very lovely card, Mary. I love the flowers and the colors. You did a great job with the different leaves and the placement. I guess the bathroom is a good news, bad news kind of thing. Good that it was decided before anything else was done, bad news that some had to come out again. It will make you really appreciate it all that much more when it's done. Glad Joe is home safe and sound and that he had a nice time.
