DieVersions Summer Flowers

Hiya--happy Saturday, with wishes that your weekend has started off well. Still very hot in our area, but we did get a lovely, gentle rain yesterday evening. It was pleasant enough as the storm was ending that we could sit out on the porch and enjoy the cool air, listening to the rain. Our plumbers had just left, so the plumbing fixtures have been installed. (ah, no - we can't use the shower yet! Silicone has to dry, plus we're still waiting on the tile fella to show..hopefully next week!) So perhaps by the end of July we _might possibly_ be able to use that shower. YAY! After all this bother, we're almost afraid to...for fear of what else might go wrong. We're the original Murphy's Law people.

Now, please help me welcome 2 new followers:

Thanks so much for becoming my newest followers, and I hope that my friends will surf over to say hi & enjoy a visit with you too. It's great to make new friends, and enjoy the wonderful projects that everyone posts.

Today's card:

Have just been trying to work on some UFO's while still not feeling tiptop (I'm getting there though, just a bit slowly!). Recently Dies R Us has been having some moving sales, so when I see dies at good prices - especially those background dies which can be a bit pricey - I've been succumbing. This is one from a recent sale:

Die-Versions Summer Flowers Background(Whispers DVW-364)...die cut from a previously created background, probably Dylusions sprays, from the Snippets Box. Very easy to cut this intricate die with the metal plate (not the Precision Plate though). A forward/backward pass, 2 times just to be certain all the bits cut from the thicker mixed media c/s - and Voila...easy-peasy.

- Colorbox 8x8 watercolor-marble paper (from Walmart for $5!) cut to fit the background die for the card front.

- McGill flower punch (old one-can't find a link) to cut some tiny flowers from snippets of previously created backgrounds & c/stock bits, add a center of Nuvo Crystal drops...

- Julie Ebersole sentiment Hello diecut from some rather glossy backing (a die was attached to this backing) - so it didn't need extra layers. Tried out an EP combination created from a very bright vivid green (can't think why I bought such a bold color), mixed with a Reflections white that looks more creamy than white. Probably should have done a black or dark blue for more contrast, but I did rather like the look of the combination powders. Just perhaps not so great on this card!

Recently took the Jennifer McGuire Heat Wave class, and one of the techniques was combining EP's to create different looks. So thought I'd try it with some colors I don't use very much. Good thing I had some empty containers from dumping frequently used EP's into Tupperware. I did wipe out the container very well, first though. Now just need to label that container so I know what color combo it is.

Added a beautiful new card to the Cards by Friends, so hope you'll have time to give a look-in. We feel so blessed receiving cards from the talented and thoughtful bloggers who send them to us.

Have a wonderful afternoon. Big Hugs & thanks for coming by. See ya.

  7. Having an intricate die that cuts well makes life so much easier doesn't it? Especially when they're so pricey! I love the aqua blue color with those pretty, colorful flowers, and everything looks so nice on that golden background too! I never thought to blend embossing powders together, but what a great idea! I hope you continue to feel better and for goodness sakes - give those guys a kick in the rear and tell them to finish that shower! It's been a long time coming! LOL

  10. This is beautiful Mary and I love the colours using pieces of card you have created yourself and the pretty punched flowers, also the sentiment using your own mix of ep's, what a great idea. Glad you had a little rain to cool the air. We have had quite humid air here over the last week and the temps are supposed to be getting up quite high in the early part of this coming week, but then thundery showers to cool it down. I don't mind the heat but hate humidity. Sorry you are not feeling completely better yet, hope it won't take too much longer. x

  13. This is so wonderfully summery, Mary! Great colors, and just so pretty. Glad to hear that your plumbing is on the way to being restored. It's amazing how much we take for granted the "little" conveniences in life, isn't it? Thanks so much for the welcome! I had followed you before, but when I deleted my Deedee's Digis account, it deleted everything including my blog and all of the sites I was following! I couldn't restore it, so I had to start fresh. You can find the new one at http://myhandmadesunshine.blogspot.com. Hugs!

  28. Hi, Mary! I frequently cannot find the blogs of new followers, and thought there was something wrong with me. Glad to know it is not just me. I think lots of people do not understand the importance of having their blogger and/or google plus ID updated with their information so we can find them and return the favor.

Wow! UFOs! I envy that you doing that, and long to do the same. I have so many, and the "piles" are neatly organized. Today's creation is lovely, Mary, with the brilliant use of color, and all the happy, colorful punches elements. It's fun using our "old" stuff, isn't it? Helps us remember good times, and helps us decide if we should keep the products!

    thanks for sharing today!
    hugs,

  39. Beautiful die-cut Mary ... and lovely with the colours you've used. The lovely turquoise die-cut really pops of the pretty yellow background.

Good to hear that you are getting towards the end of your reno. Hopefully in the next week or so it will be done it. It's so much upheaval. It will be nice for your and Mr. to be settled without having people coming in and out all the time.

Take care and get better! xx
