Pet Sympathy

Good afternoon, and welcome. We've had a beautifully cool & sunny day, and it's definite that Fall has arrived at our South Carolina area. Life is going on as usual here at our house, and matters on the health front have improved, for which I'm thankful. Mr. still has some medical tests to finish, waiting on results of some previous tests, but he's feeling much better.  I am still regaining energy and struggling with Mo-Jo. I expect some of that is due to a bad habit of lazy as well.

Some weeks ago, DD had to make a decision to put down one of her greyhounds. Reilly had not been eating well, and after some extensive tests at several vets, she was diagnosed with liver cancer which had spread other places. She came home for a few days, and then went to the Rainbow Bridge. DD says the other dogs were quite lost for some days, as Reilly was the 'organizer' of the trio. A bit of time has passed, & finally completed the image that was colored right after we got the news. The ODBD set we  bought years ago. Thought the image would be a snap to color, but it was more fiddly to color well than I expected. Have yet to find any good greyhound stamps to add to the stash, so this puppy will have to serve.

ODBD Dog Sympathy Cling set (E340)...has some nice sentiments in it too. Colored with Copics, diecut with a Sizzix oval.

- Darice oval die used for mat. Used the spaces in the die to stencil on a darker color.

- border is a snippet from a brusho session, and the DP covering the white cardbase was embossed with a S/B Mbossability folder. Got the debossed side by mistake but that's ok, as each side is pretty. I had to remember to only use one plate for the sandwich. I have broken a C/Bug in the past using these Mbossability folders, and some of the new embossing folders are quite thick too. If you're using them, pay attention to your die cutting machine when doing so!

- leaf frond from the snippet box and the die sentiment was cut from the same piece as the border strip.

Added some new cards to the Cards by Friends page, so hope you'll have time to enjoy them with us.  There is a link to the card maker's blog under each, so you can visit the blogger and see  their other lovely work. It's a joy to see these sweet thoughts up on the mantel as we come into the room & know that someone thought of us.

Hope you've had a good day. Thanks for visiting. Hugs

  2. How sad for your DD having to lose one of her lovely dogs but right to do it before the dog got to suffer too much. This is a lovely dog image and you have coloured it so prettily Mary. I love the yellow die and then the green embossing in the background and the Brusho strip. It all goes together beautifully. Glad to hear you are on the mend and hope the Mr finishes all his tests soon. x

  3. It's a lovely, sweet card, Mary, and will be much appreciated by your daughter. When our fur children pass away, a very large hole is left in our lives. They are ever faithful and loving, and so innocent. Their death affects the whole family, including the other furry members. Hope they are soon feeling less bereft. Hugs, de

  8. Hi Mary, So glad you and your hubby are doing much better.

Your daughter will love the card. I actually had some Greyhound wood mounted stamps made, as I couldn't find any. I tend to use a photo of the animal that has gone to The Bridge on a card.

Well you take care and I hope you have a nice day. Sue

  22. So sorry to hear about your DD's dog Reilly. It is so hard when a cherished pet passes away after having them for so long. I know first hand, my beloved cat Cricket passed away in February. I had her for 14 years and she was my baby, I miss her so much even now!
Your card is beautiful and I know it will be much appreciated!

  25. Oh Mary, I am so very sad to hear about Reilly but I guess they would not have wanted Reilly to suffer. Still, I am very sorry.

Your card is beautiful and I am sure it will bring comfort to your Daughter. On a more positive note, pleased to hear that hubby is feeling better. I am not surprised your mojo has gone 'walkies', you have had a lot to contend with my friend! Hopefully when hubby has got his results, things will improve - i hope. Hugs, Anne xx

  26. You can't do this to me, Mary. I'm so confused already. My friend recently made a pet sympathy card with this exact stamp so I found myself wondering if I just imagined that? The card is quite a beaut and I'm sorry that it is for such a sad occasion. Our fur babies mean the world to us. PJ

    PS.. What's OBDB?

  28. That's a shame your daughter had to put down her beloved dog, but hopefully she found comfort in the pretty card you made for her! The dog looks comfortable lying in his bed made of grass and flowers, and the embossing is just beautiful. I'm glad to hear you and the Mister are feeling better these days though, because being sick is the pits!! Take good care and hopefully better and much healthier days are coming! (hugs)
