Lavendar Thank You

Welcome! After a rainy & dreary weekend, we have lovely golden warm sunshine today. Great way to start a week. This weekend we took a 3 hour drive up to our hometown to visit a 91 yr old cousin. She's in a nursing home, and my oldest brother expressed a wish to see her. My sweet DH said "I'll take him". So that's what we did Saturday, and even though it was very sad to see the situation she's in, I'm thankful we were able to have them meet again. They were kids together, and were close as adults too. Additionally we met up with some other cousins at our favorite family BBQ place in the town. Had a safe drive back home, for which I always say a big "Thank you", as there are so many irresponsible and crazy drivers on the interstate we travel.

Today's card has been received, so I'm sharing it this afternoon. Just finished up a marathon commenting session for the sweet folks who came to see the Rudolph Day post. I was about 2 day s behind on my visiting.

This UFO image had been colored, who knows how long ago. My recipient likes purple, so I used DP that has a large floral pattern for a die mat. I just never know how to use these  pretty large patterns effectively. I admire seeing how other crafters can make such lovely cards with these papers.

The image was from a PBlack transparent set, very easy to color; S/B deckled oval die, and a Darice oval die for the mat.  The background was made using a stencil, gold mica spray. This particular piece was created by pressing the saturated stencil against Canson Mixed Media c/s. The stencil had been used to spray through for another project. I was not going to waste all that lovely gold spray!

Found a simple sentiment stamp, used a Memento purple pad, and a quick thank you was finished.

Need to get crackin' on making some Valentine cards. We are planning to be away that week, so I doubt I mail out very many. Hoping to get to Florida. The DD was here for a few days last week, and oh, did we enjoy that time. Hard to see her leave, but I did goodby better than I usually do (primarily 'cause we hope to see her again soon).

Come again when you can. So much flu & stomach bugs around, so please try to stay well. Hugs & Blessings. Thanks for your visit.

  2. This is such a pretty thank you card Mary and I love the gold stencilled background and then your beautifully coloured topper and a great idea to use a flowery patterned dp as the die cut background mat. Glad you managed to take your brother with you to visit some of your relations and had a nice meal too, and great to get a visit from your DD, and to be able to visit her soon as well. x

The shimmery gold background is just gorgeous, and the delicately colored floral image is stunning and framed beautifully! Thank YOU for this wonderful card :) So glad you had a nice trip and made it home safely and I'm glad the visits with your DD will be close together so you won't have to miss her too terribly! 8. How nice you were able to get your brother and cousin together for a visit. I'm sure they both enjoyed it. Also, that DD was home for a visit and now you are going to visit her. I think you did a great job with the large image DP. It does shine and frame the lavender so well.

  9. Hi Mary, Nice that you got to visit family.

You mentuioning the other road users, made me remember the very wise words my driving instructor told me 'Treat everyone else on the road as an idiot. You might then get through without any accidents'.

Lovely card. Purple is my favourite colour.

Hope you get to visit your daughter. I have some more Greyhound images, so I will email them to you.

Hope you have a lovely day. Sue

  12. This gorgeous card has such an elegant look to it Mary, probably the regal purple colour and the pretty frame. I too am way behind with my visiting, there just don't seem to be enough hours in the day at the moment and even though the winter solstice has passed the days don't seem to be getting any longer!! Never mind, spring is sure to follow!! xx

  16. Hello Mary, your card is beautiful! I love the die cut mats and the pretty image! It was so nice of you and your husband to take your brother to see your cousin. It is so important to keep in touch with our older relatives! So many people just don't find the time or don't want to be bothered. My dad's baby sister, she was 70 (she was only 8 years older then me) passed away Saturday from cancer. They said she had 6 months to a year and she passed away within 2 months. It is so sad. I made some sympathy cards yesterday for her family and my Dad's now only living sister. I think instead of making my Dad a sympathy card I will make him a thinking of you card.
    Have a great day!

  26. Such a beautiful card. I think you've used the paper and the large die cut absolutely perfectly. Love the way you got two uses when you sprayed the stencil and I suspect the gold mica spray is so pretty. Such a beautiful stamped image too and love how you've stamped the sentiment in the purple. So glad you had a safe journey last weekend and that DH was sweet enough to drive the three of you. Glad you'll be seeing DD soon x

  27. This is a beautiful card Momma Mary! I love that image and I love the pattern papers you used. And yes, you used them well! I know it is hard to use pattern papers, I struggle with that myself. Especially big bold prints, but I love how you used your bold print in your die-makes for a lovely background for your beautifully color image. I sure hope your plans for going to FL to see DD is still in full swing for Valentine's! Hugs, Brenda

  29. Hi Mary,
what a very stunning card and such a beautiful stamped image too.
Love everything you have done to create this it's excellent.
So glad your jouney went well and safely and you caught up with family.
How wonderful that you had your D/D visit, and so nice to be going to her home soon.
Hope the jouney when you go is without any troubles.
We also have such irrisponssible drivers over here.
They always have to be a in front of your no matter how they get there and to what cost for other drivers.
They also go through Red Traffic lights quite blatently. not sure if I have spelt that word right.
Love and big hugs from my house to yours. Jenny L.
