Christmas Card Black & White

Happy Sunday & Welcome. Today's challenge theme at the Christmas Club is Black & white plus one other color, and chosen by our Miss Karen P. The Christmas Card Club is a group of ladies who have a challenge every 2 weeks (or fortnight as is the British terminology). So here's my card for this challenge:

- 2006 Stampendous stamp inked with Colorbox white pigment ink, stamped & embossed with Hero Arts White embossing powder. Die cut with Opulent Ovals (S5-160).

- B&W mat cut with next larger size of Opulent Ovals. This background was created with white cardstock & black Pan Pastel stenciling, set with a fixative spray. (Reminder: use this spray in a well ventilated area).

- outer black mat created by tracing outline of the previous die and hand cutting (faux mat).

- card front is from a 6x6 Authentique Irresistible collection - which consists of black & white pattern papers.

- Joanna Sheen Britannia sentiment dies - & red glitter ribbon. Red Rhinestones (for + one other color).

This was a challenge for me, as I had never made a black & white Christmas card before..so a bit out of my comfort zone. It was fun though.

Edit: Thanks to Miss Lynn for suggesting that this Black & White + one other color be submitted over at Digi Haven for their color challenge. I did it! What nice folks blogging friends are...they have your back and isn't that great?

Thanks for your visit today. I hope it's a beautiful afternoon where you may be in the world. Hugs.

  10. Beautiful, Mary. I have made a Christmas card or two in black and white and really liked it/them.
The red is perfect with it. I love that beautiful image in white against the black.

It has been very dark here for an hour or more. The storms are coming. It will be really bad tomorrow. Hope I don't have to shut down my puter.....probably will.

  13. Fabulous card Mary. what a wonderful stamped image...I really need to embrace heat embossing more! lol

I always love the look on the blogs I visit...it looks so crisp and showcases the stamped image so well. Good for you for being brave enough to fussy cut that outer layer. Sometimes I am in the mood to Fussy cut as I usually find it relaxing...but others...oh my...I can really goof them up!!! lol

  27. This is gorgeous Mary. Love that die cut - haven't seen that one before! You got a nice crisp image with your embossing too - kudos. The background with the pan pastels and stencil? Never done that either, but it really does give a great result. Super card.

  29. Very elegant Mary and I love the old fashion image. I guess I am supposed to say "vintage"!
We are expecting tons of rain - will not hurt my feeling as the woods have been so dry and the pollen is probably at its peak now.

  35. This is a lovely Stampendous stamp Mary, and it is beautifully enhanced by that great shaped die cut mat, and the white layer stencilled with black Pan Pastel works perfectly with that pretty patterned paper in the background. The red introduced with the ribbon, gemstones and die cut sentiment is a pretty pop of colour with the black and white. A beautiful card. x
