Christmas Lights

Second post: Just took some photos of our afternoon's work. Still have some cleanup to be done, and Mr. has put a spotlight on Santa's Sleigh as another light fuse has blown. He didn't want to hunt for it in the dark, plus it's gotten chilly. So here's a look at what is going on round our house. A bit of refining still needs doing, and perhaps we'll put lights on the back deck, which will show in the photos. Our driveway ends in a basement garage, so one of the pics was taken with me standing in the drive, looking up at the front porch. Hope this won't bore you to tears! :-)

On each side of the front door. There's another small tree that will go beside the birdhouse and some containers of silk poinsettias on each side of the door. Also the Christmas wreath for the front door, & a Mr. & Mrs. Claus will go on the white glider. Mr & Mrs. C are fabric, so have to remember to bring them in if it rains. The door mat will get changed to a Christmas one. Maybe something on the bottom table shelf.

The sleigh & deer have LED lights, but are more golden than silver, really pretty. Mr. has a spotlight on the set just now, as another fuse is out. They were lighted earlier this afternoon.

This trio of wicker deer have the moving heads. We've had these a long time, and I was so surprised that no lights needed change out - just attached the heads & everything worked. Small trees that light up are along the walk. It's hard to see the icicle lights in the photo, but they all are working. Thank Heaven!

Coming up our front walk ...LED rocking  horse & gift box.

Rocking horse view from standing in the drive. We may add some garland & lights to the bannisters, if we dig it up from attic storage. At least from the street, all the extension cords don't show!!

Hard to tell in the photo, but these are penguins. The wall hides air conditioners & generator. The back deck rails show above this utility space, and possibly may get some lights on the deck rails.

Mr's lighted train that he has perched on the fender of his trailer - which sits in the driveway pull out. The closeup doesn't show that the lights flash as though the wheels are turning. The neighbors like this one!! Normally he has this decoration up on the deck rails.

Hope you enjoyed the little Christmas tour of our house. Mr. has worked hard today, and I shouldn't pick on him because he gets a bit testy now & again. Testy or  not, he stayed outside in the wind, and got all this put up, just because he's a big sweetie - who is a bit susceptible to coaxing.

G'nite. Hugs too.

  8. Everything looks so beautiful Momma Mary!! That hubby of yours sure is a keeper to work all day on these beautiful decorations. Mine wouldn't have. lol He is a Grinch and we don't even have any Christmas stuff up yet! He will make me wait as he knows it gets my goat when I have to wait until it is late. Oh well, it will get up eventually. I sure did love seeing all your beautiful decorations Momma Mary and I have to admit that I was loving the trains and that rocker horse the best, although I loved it all! Hugs, Brenda

  19. It's looking good, Mary. Lots of work but worth it. I'm sure it looks awesome as everyone drives through the neighborhood.

We have really cut down on what we do but still looks nice, I think.

Been gone a while but trying to get back in the swing of things with my blog. I need a lot more time than I have to keep up, kwim?

  20. Not bored at all Mary. I love to see everyone´s decorations. Over here they do not put lights outside the houses. We string blue icicles around the fly free area of our back porch, but no-one else will. Hopefully the Town Hall will put some up across the street any day now, but they are late this year so they may have decided not to because of the financial situation. I make up for it with decorations in the house, but our electricity supply couldn´t cope with too many lights! Enjoy yours. Kate x

  26. How beautiful Mary, Mr. certainly did work hard. I just love the Christmas lights around the houses at this time of the year. All your illuminations are wonderful. I have a soft spot for them looking at all the fabulous lights on the houses whilst going back and forwards to the hospital when my mum was dying really kept me going, and I would tell her about all the santas' sticking in chimney pots and sparkling lights, and this wa 11 years ago, still remember it like it was yesterday, thanks for showing us your lovely house, hugs Kate x

  28. Wow! It looks great..Tell Joe that he has done a wonderful job and I just love his train.
I come from a railroad family. My Grandfather built was a railroad contractor...built railroads in Canada and the States. All my realtives on my Dad's side were Engineers or conductors...even i worked my way through university as an operator...conducting train movements in and around a station in the Kootenays.

We are not poutting up anything at all this year...I feel sad about it but we are justtoo busy with the move.

I love your porch...it looks fabulous. I loved the other photos you shared last summer too. My new porch is quite small but will be able to just tuck in two chairs and a wee end table. Might manage a planter too but then it will be full! Quite small indeed.

Yours look nice and big...lots of room for decorations and sitting a spell.

  29. how fun! your decorations are so pretty, and I know your neighbors appreciate the effort - so much fun seeing festive Christmas lights every where! we are at a dead end of a very low-traffic street, in the middle of acreage, where no one can see any of our decorations, so we just decorate our gate, which is at the end of a road shared with 2 other houses - one which is unoccupied LOL LOL Thank you for sharing the photos, Mary! xo
