A House Mouse Get Well

Good afternoon, and hey, it's mid-week. Even though I've been retired for some years, psychologically I still get the 'made it to the middle of the week' feeling, and on Fridays, YAY. It doesn't really make a great deal of difference to the current way we live, but still...The only feeling that reflects retirement is: I don't get that let-down dread on Sunday night, when I'm thinking of all the things I didn't get accomplished before the new workweek. Now I LIKE that!!!

Still working on cleaning out old colored images, and today's little House Mouse is one of those. The only thing I've changed on this little fella, is to add some glossy accents to the water, and die cut him out.

- the die is a PTI and the frame cuts are backed with Scotch tape to keep the strips in place.

- Lil Inker sun die, cut from 2 pieces of yellow snippets; added this because the front just looked too bland. Don't remember the fish tail banner company.

- Mustard color mat was a snippet and the EF was an old one, chosen because the swirl pattern made me think of water.

It's made me feel better about my early copic efforts to realize I can use some of the practice pieces, with just a bit of adding more depth & contrast. I still have trouble creating contrast, although I do realize it adds dimension to a piece. I have to color first, then go back and look, add in. My eyes just don't see it when I'm coloring.

I'm still putting things away, nearly done with one linen closet. Need some more clear storage boxes to fit the very top shelf. There's loads of space above that top shelf, reaching to the ceiling. Decided if I find the right clear boxes to fit that shelf, can stack seldom used items, but still need to keep around.Of course then we'll need a stool to get to anything piled on top of something!!! (Be best just to toss it, but not ready for that drastic step as yet. I've pitched a lot of stuff, though!). Guess it's good to go through the house occasionally and weed out. Bear in mind, I'm not very good at following my own advice on this kind of cleaning, however.

Ya'll have a lovely day, and thanks for joining me. Hugs.

  2. Sweet little guy and I rather like the die cut you have used to cut around him. I,m with you on the days thing. We know when it gets to a Wednesday cos that's bin day and then Saturday is go down the road for the newspaper so we know what is on the
TV for the next seven days but ask us what date it is and we don't have a clue. With you on the sorting out job too. Have a rule of if we buy something new then something has to out so that we don't accumulate. Doesn't apply to my craft room though!! Hugs Mrs A.

  4. That really is just the most adorable image, I love your card! The embossed background is beautiful too. I don't really get that midweek, Friday or Monday feeling these days, every day is a holiday to me and I often forget what day it is - lol! Hugs, Anne xx

  12. Hi Mary, I love the card. That image is so cute.

Hope you can get the boxes you need. I have a similar top shelf in a small cupboard. It would hold loads stacked on top of each other, but you just know when you want something it will be the item right at the bottom:)

Hope you have a lovely day. Sue

  15. Awww, I love this card Momma Mary! That little image is so dang cute! I wish I could be doing just what he is doing today, but no time. I love the little sun added, it was the perfect finishing touch. I also love the color combo you have used. And speaking of coloring, your coloring looks fabulous and I love that you are getting some images colored from back when used up! I also love the embossing folder, it really does look like water swirling around. Glad to hear that you are getting things put back together. I will be starting to tear things up around here. I would put some kind of "tubs" on the top shelf too, just to hold things that you don't use often, but still need from time to time. I need a stool to reach everything!!! lol Hugs, Brenda

  17. You colour beautifully Mary and what a cute House Mouse image and the die cut layers and the pretty embossing in the background certainly does add to the feeling of water. A really pretty card. Glad you are gradually getting everthing sorted out. We are trying to tidy up the garage as we still have stuff in there from when we moved from our old house a long time ago, and having to be ruthless which isn't always easy, but making ourselves do it as space indoors is at a premium. x

  18. What a sweet little guy ... sure to cheer up anyone that is feeling under the weather. Love the combination of deep yellow and bright blue.

I'm with you about the days of the week. Even though I've been retired for a while now, Friday's still seem to be the best day of the week, looking forward to a weekend of doing what I want. Even though I pretty much do what I want everyday. :) Minds are funny, aren't they??!! Enjoy the rest of this week ... tomorrow is ... Friday! xx

  23. I am definitely looking forward to retirement and not having to punch the clock. My let down on Sunday night is Oh darn I have to go to work tomorrow. LOL! Love your little mouse. The House Mouse stamps are so adorable but when I have to deal with the real mice I am not so thrilled. Love your card and you are inspiring me to go look what's in my old folders now. Take care. 30. I love your signature and watermark, Mary. I know you had this beautiful new blog look before I left, but I don't remember the signature. I haven't heard a lot from you on my England posts, but I know you must have been traveling along with me because you love England, too! I've finally gotten over the jet lag and caught up on thank you cards, so I came by to make sure you are okay. I know you weren't feeling too hot when I left. I'm glad to see you doing well, creating, clearing out both the household schtuff and the stack of colored images! The cards are awesome, as always! I was especially pleased to see you post the photos of the new bathroom and the kitchen tile! What a lot of turmoil and work, but it was all worth it!! Big hugs, Darnell
