Birthday Hummingbird

Hello and welcome. Hope that everyone had a pleasant weekend. It was rather quiet here, did a few house chores, made some phone calls, ran some errands. Yesterday we finally got some much needed rain, but then late afternoon, we had tornado warnings for our area. Nothing dreadful happened right around this community, but in the next county, a small twister blew down some trees. We might get  more rain today, which will be ok. I can work on cleaning the windows that face on the front porch, as I will be under roof if I should step outside to wash instead of tilting those windows inward.

Today's share is another bits & pieces cards, that was sent to the son-in-law for his birthday which is later this month. The hummingbird is a pretty Northwoods image (wooden block) which I couldn't resist when I saw it. NWoods has the prettiest flower and birds images of any company I've seen; always stamp out crisply aside from Operator Error. Sometimes with the large blocks, the stamp press works terrifically to  help with OE.

The background is Very Old Stuff  with a large pattern but I liked the shade of green with the colored image. Tried to cut it to take advantage of the pretty floral, but at least managed to get the insect intact. It looks like the very bottom edge 'bubbled', but didn't see that until in the photo. The die cuts a large rectangle, the oval, including the skinny oval frame. Cut the DP along with some dark green c/s, and used the dark green to create the inlay framing look. The golden frame is part of the image, and colored with a pentel gold metallic pen. Wink of Stella was also used on the frame. Also noticed that when editing, I forgot to add the signature hallmark :-) Ah me.

Am enjoying the visits from my old friends....I'm so grateful you all stayed with me while I was MIA so long. I'm doing my best to return visits as comments are made, and hope to get back to visiting  lots of other followers who haven't re-found me lately. We're still trying to provide support to the 2 widowed brothers, while getting back to the routine of our own lives.

Thanks for taking time to visit today. How do you like the blog's Fall look? (actually it was last year's Fall look, but had to remember how to upload the template - hope I've got it right). Thanks Loll!

Anybody watching The Outlander new series? I've enjoyed it so far. Also loving the Doc Martin Series 8! We're waiting to see some of the stuff we saw filmed, and also looking at the scenes and saying "Did we see that bit?" or "Do you remember that?" Adds such added fun to the viewing.

Hugs & God Bless.

  1. This is really pretty. I can see why you wanted to use the background paper as it fits in so perfectly with the image. We have so many series to catch up on. They are all taped . Outlanders being one of them. We will need to do a session of binge viewing in order to catch up. It's the only reason I like the winter months when I can't get out in the garden and it's nice to snuggle onto the settee with a warm blanket. Hugs Mrs A.

  7. The style of the paper and image go hard in hand, timeless and classic beauty. Colors are really well coordinated too.
I've never done anything with the design of my blog header, but it's nice with the seasonal variations you do:)

The first series of Outlander is now on our TV, I have already watched first and second series on amazon prime, and watching now the third one. Alistair thinks it's soft porn, but loves the scenery, hope you are enjoying it, Kate x

  19. Great card for your son in law. I love the framing in the oval with the beautiful background paper. I can't remember if I've read a book sometimes until I'm half way through and something triggers my memory!

  22. Oh my another gorgeous card Momma Mary and you have colored this hummer to perfection! I love how your used that background paper, so well done you. I have not seen The Outlander, will have to look for that one. Need to work on watching more of the Doc Martin series as I do enjoy that show. You are doing better at blogging than me, but I am trying to get around to commenting. Hopefully when the mowing is done for the winter I can get back to blogging. Hugs, Brenda

  23. That's a very pretty hummingbird and I'm sure it made a nice b-day card for your SIL. I'm happy you didn't get any severe weather and hopefully today (like us) you're enjoying a bit of sunshine. I've never seen Outlander, or the other one you mentioned. I'm not invested in any tv shows all that much these days. We usually have baseball on tv and that's rapidly drawing to a close as the divisional titles are being played. Soon we'll have the world series and once that's over, I'll be digging out my jigsaw puzzles again to amuse myself :)

  32. Love your card Mary, the hummingbird is beautiful (and so is your new Autumn blog header). So glad you were not affected by the tornado, there has been so much this year, in many ways I am glad we live in rainy old England!

  33. Lovey card Mary. We've been watching Doc Martin too! Not sure if you are at the same point as us or slightly behind. I just feel I should point out on behalf of the Devon and Cornwall Police that the inept policing is nothing to do with them!!

  35. Glad the tornado didn't cause in problems in your area. There's just so much devastation going on these past few months.

Your card is really beautiful. I can see why you are attracted to the NW stamps. Gorgeous images. Hopefully they have an on-line store I can check out.

Take care washing those windows!! And stay dry Mary. xx
