Father's Day - Vroom!

Good afternoon, welcome. Firstly, prayers go out to those poor Orlando families who suffered such a tragic loss. It's just sickening that things of this hateful nature happens - anywhere, to ANYbody! I don't understand this kind of evil..and I don't know what else you can call it. I'm sure we all feel the same about this kind of thing. Whether one is religious or not, it's cruel evilness and no other word to call it. Enough.

Onward to happier things: Please  help me give a warm welcome to new follower, Pam of Scrap-n-Sew Granny. Thanks for joining here Pam, it's lovely to see a new friend in the lineup. I hope my friends might become your friends as well. It was fun to see that Pam comes from Florida and migrated to the Carolinas, just as we did. Different parts of each state, but still, small world.

Since Father's Day is drawing near, and since I came across an old Kanban page of popout images, today's card evolved. My DH loves old cars. After this one was together, DUH, I realized, this is a European car, while he's into old hotrods and old USA cars. Well, it's still a car, so I hope he'll like it!

- Kanban Life's Journey Paper Craft Toppers (no telling how old this is!). Main image popped out from the sheet, used the shape to trace a faux mat of SU Marina Mist. 

- Gold Shimmerz Sheet embossed with an old C/Bug e/f that has always reminded me of the design on the toolboxes I see on pickup trucks (no we don't have a toolbox on our truck! It has a solid surface cover over the whole bed).

- Lil Inkers Die sentiment - 1 white snippet layer, 2 layers cut from the inside of the faux mat piece. Applied Glossy Accents after this was glued in place. This is a fairly largish die for a  sentiment, and I had to sort of cover up the one driver's head to get it placed where I wanted. As it dried, noticed the glossy was very crackled, so dunno what caused that. Decided it might take to some gold gilding paste, so rubbed a bit of that around. Managed to get some on the charcoal card base, so just rubbed it other places too, and along the blue mat. Pretty easy card - just need to finish the inside.

A Hummingbird for Father's Day and a NBUS too.

Good evening, and thanks for joining me on my 2nd post for today. Normally I would have made DH a card with an old car, truck or something of that sort, but I found this delightful little Just Rite stamp that I've had for a while, and never used it so --- Hooray, it qualifies as an entry into Our Darnell's NBUS Challenge.  I have been fretting that I wouldn't get something made in time to link in & play along with Darnell's wonderful challenge. For those who don't know the term NBUS, (check the Bloganition tab...but it means Never Before Used Schtuff  - also called Stuff!).

DH & I enjoy watching the hummers come to our feeder in summer, so I thought he'd enjoy this little bird. Now I didn't color it perzackly like those birds we see - and these little guys are ferocious at times, chasing other hummers away from 'their' food supply. He did like the theme, so here's the card:

 

 

- Just Rite Backyard Birds set (JR 09230),(NBUS) and I don't know how old this set is. Stamped with Tuxedo Black onto Xpress snippet, die cut with a pierced circle die. Colored with copics. Had to use a .03 copic multiliner to fill in on the sentiment as some of it did not stamp as well as I'd have liked. This stamp & border fits onto the JRite wooden circle holder, and I wasn't applying enough pressure to get the print stamped nicely. I knew I could fix it, so I didn't restamp it.

 

- After coloring, diluted some Liquid Pearls Opal with water, brushed over the hummer and the flowers, for a lovely glimmer.

 

- sponged DI Spun Sugar and then Milled Lavendar with the image in the die.

 

- background created with Dylusions sprays: Cherry Pie, Turquoise and Funky Fuschia. Cherry Pie & Turquoise were diluted with White Linen, Fuschia with water only. This was sprayed over a Damask design stencil. Dried with a heat gun, then sprayed Tattered Angels Crimson Current (another NBUS) and some Irisdescent Gold.

 

- Leftover (ie snippet) S/B Scalloped Borders two that had been created with dylusions sprays and some over stamping for an earlier card. I liked it as a border with the purple-pinks of the background.

 

- sentiment is a Lil Inker die, from another snippet. Had tried using the SU doily stamping on black, embossing with a colored powder, didn't like the look. Needed something with a nice contrast on the background, so die cut the Lil Inker from this snippet. It looks like crocodile print when you can see only part of the snippet! Just goes to show, those boo-boo's will eventually get used.

 

DH was happy with his card, so that is what matters. We're going out to dinner (his choice of venue) with my #2 brother & SIL. So after doing some linking, I'm off to get changed. Thanks for joining me once again. Ya'll come back when ya can. Hugs

Fathers Day

Good afternoon, and I'm here with a card I intended to get entered into Outlawz Friday Copic/Promarker Challenge, but alas, once again, I am too late. I see I could still link but I think the April Showers theme closed awready. I'll share the card here and I do believe I may use it as a Father's Day for DH. He likes frogs...and I think this one is cute. He can just use his imagination to decide which one of us, is getting the shower.

- image is Penny Black, Frolicking Frogs, colored with copics on Xpress. Used a bit of Glossy Accents on the puddle & raindrops. Also hit the shower with a Stardust Silver Star pen prior to the Glossy Accents...so IRL it's quite sparkly

- diecut image with S/binders Labels 4, sponged with Memento Summer Sky while still in the die

- matted with Paper Studio Linen door - a 4.5x6.5 pack - and this paper looks a bit like 'grass paper', diecut with S/Binders 5x7 Detailed Scallops. I liked this lacy, grassy look behind the frolicking frogs

- cardbase made with the Grand Labels S/binder 4, on a turquoise shade of textured Bazzill. I tried some other blues, but liked this one best. I still have room for a slim-line sentiment at the bottom of the card.

Fathers Day

Good evening. Here's a Father's Day card to share and it is made with a really cute Penny Black Slapstick stamp, called Toadily Happy. My DH loves frogs. I could easily pass on this fixation, but as long as it is a cute frog, I'm ok with it. This one's a cutie, colored - of course - with copics. I tried to do the 'reflections' in the water bit, not sure how much it shows up in the picture. Cut the image with a S/binder, Labels 23. I had to use the 'out-of-the-box' cutting technique in the top part. This one was a bit awkward to use that technique, but I didn't want to lose any of the image. I embossed the blue mat, which I just cut straight, so as to fit the die-cut image. I neglected to write the folder company or specific name, but it is a swirly one - probably C/bug. Thought it looked sort of 'water-like'. I used some sparkly stickles to add some shine, rubbing it on different raised areas with my finger. The additional butterflies were from an MS punch, on some scraps that I had used TH Distress Ink to do some sponging for another project. (guess this counts as a snippet for the playground). -   The layers were adhered to a yellowy-green piece of Bazzill textured cardstock. Then I used another little snipped to stamp the sentiment, which I also heat embossed after inking to add a bit of shine. Then I crumpled the tag after cutting a V at each end, popped up on some pop dots. There, it's done, and he won't see it until he's supposed to. I'm off to see if the ladies will let me in the playground. They seem to be having so much fun. Fathers Day

Hi, and hope you're having a fun Saturday, a relaxing Saturday or just whatever makes you happy today. We have had a rather overcast & much cooler morning. Surprising for this time of the year in our Upstate area. I found some cards I had done last year while cleaning out DH's dresser drawer. Since I don't have something current to share, thought I'd scan some of my cards that he has saved (Bless his little heart!), and post here. This one was made with some snippets that were on the desk, and the little froggie was a clear Michael's find - perhaps in the dollar bin. (DH likes frogs - I only like cute ones). The embossing folder was a C/Bug Divine swirls - one of my first C/Bug folders. The punches are MS...froggie was colored with Copics, diecut with S/binder circles. Did you happen to see the crafting shows on HSN earlier in the week? I didn't stay up that late, but I recorded them, watched a few last night. Anna Griffin has some really pretty things out...and No, I didn't weaken & buy anything from HSN! Thanks for visiting and have a great afternoon.
