Good afternoon, and you know what happens on Friday, right? The Fun Day Challenge over at Jo's Scrap Shack, and it's number 35, our Sponsor is Bugaboo Digital Stamps, our theme this week is Celebrate.
I need an anniversary card, so I chose this cute little digi by Stella Love. I liked the sentiment that comes with the stamp. Printed the image out first on Xpress paper, which didn't color well at all with my copics; my different pencil brands didn't work well either on this paper. Reprinted the image on Walmart's GP cardstock, and it colored much better with the copics. On the Xpress paper I had a terrible smearing problem with the printer ink even though I let it dry overnight. I used Best Quality Photo on Premium Matte Paper with the Xpress. Used the same setting for the GP, but the GP is not as glossy as the Xpress... so will be interested in what you think might work better with an Epson Stylus.
Here's the card:
- Copic coloring, paper piecing on the dress, diecut with S/B Label 14, airbrushed with BG0000 on the background. Some VOS - EK Success puffy sticker hearts added.
- background paper was left from another project, and the pink rectangle is a snippet from a Dylusions background that had been embossed.
- yellow grosgrain ribbon border & bow.
- Sentiment dies from 2 different sets using the same DP as her dress. (Happy Birthday from Elizabeth Craft, Anniversary from Brittania). Didn't show up well against the blue background, so I colored with RV copics until I got a contrast I liked.
I'll add the cute sentiment inside the card. It's not my usual style but I think my SIL will get a kick out of the old dudes and the words that go with them. (about finding that special person to annoy for a lifetime! They have been married 67 years*. A milestone in today's world. And she has a good sense of humor. Not so sure if my brother will smile!) *another relative corrected me. It's 66 years...they got married in 1948..Obviously I can't subtract! Still an awesome track record though.
Check out what the rest of Jo's DT will choose for today's Celebrate theme, and think about playing along with us. The very simple rules are posted at Jo's Blog, and the link-up is very easy.
Thanks for your visit this afternoon. Tomorrow is the stamp show that I thought was last week - so you know I'll be a happy stamper. Quite a few of my stamp buddies are driving down to attend. I hope you have something fun planned for the weekend. Hugs.
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant, thought it was a photo of me and my hubby...........LOL!!!!

What a fun card Mary! Love those images! What an odd thing happening with the papers. I'm waiting on some Copic paper to arrive shortly from Marco's, I've been getting really low, but they kept it back to wait on an airbrush, which has finally shipped, and I'm so excited to try! Your brother will hopefully love the card! Congrats. to them for being together for so long!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary what a fun, fabby card such a great image that will bring a smile to everyone's face,

Mama Mary this card is charming, stylish, funny & perfect for a couple who is celebrating 67 years of marriage! WOW that is a milestone and God bless them both. I am sure they will enjoy this card, love the humor of the sentiment for it and you have colored this card in beautifully. I find that Walmart's GP cardstock is the BEST to use with copic markers. That is the only cardstock I use with mine and I never ever have a problem. I hope you have a beautiful weekend!!!

What a fun card Mary! I don't have any copics so have no experience on the papers, but your colouring looks fabulous. Have a great time at the show :) Cathy x
ReplyDeleteGreat fun card Mary. Hazel x
ReplyDeleteMary, this is a hoot for an anniversary. I love it...and hope your brother will, too. :-) That a very cool paper pieced outfit she's sporting.
ReplyDeleteI use PTI cardstock for my bases but I usually stamp on Georgia-Pacific and it does color well. I have an Epson Stylus, too, and the ink dries almost immediately on digital images. No trouble, whatsoever.
How awesome to hear of a marriage lasting 67 years. Congratulations to them!
Hi Mary, This is so fun & gorgeous, I hope you are well.

This is hilarious, and it reminds me that this is probably what my hubs & me look like to the rest of the world too! LOL In my mind, I'm still lookin' like 30, but this is a more realistic visual! LOL Thanks for the chuckle, and have fun shopping tomorrow! I wish I was going with you :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a really fun image Mary. I like the paper piecing on the dress and the rest of the colouring looks great. I love the lovely bright coloured background., and the addition of those sweet little hearts and the yellow ribbon. We used to have an Epson printer and never had a problem with the ink staying wet like that even on glossy paper, so not sure why. Wow 67 years of marriage is fantastic so many congratulations to
ReplyDeletethem both. x
What a fun image and a delightful anniversary card! Anyone married that long has to have a sense of humor! I've found that heat setting the digi from the front and the back with my embossing gun works pretty good to set the ink from the printer. That's really disheartening when the ink smears.
ReplyDeleteLOL! LOVE this tan retired couple! They would have lost their tan here this week, tho - I'm sure your family has told you how Florida lost its sunshine this week. Our high for the day is right now at 11PM. We moved up to 57. It's the warmest we've been for 3 days. LOL Enough whining. Your card is cute - and love the pretty valentine true from the previous post. I'm so sorry about not visiting your blog, Mary. This bingo game is gonna be my ruin! LOL hugs, de
ReplyDeleteOMGosh this is so cute and so fun!!! I love this couple and I love how you made them into a card Momma Mary! Your coloring is so fabulous as well as your paper piecing. I love that SB die shape and I love those little hearts! That yellow ribbon looks so great on this card as well. Wow 67, 66 which ever, that is so awesome!! Hubby's aunt and uncle where married 70 years before his aunt passed and I marveled at that! Not something you see often anymore. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteAwesome card!! Love the cute couple
ReplyDeleteJolly great card, also love these two. How can a rectify what is wrong with getting into my blog?

This is a card that will put a smile on anyone's face. Love it.
ReplyDeleteSo cute...I think it will be loved!
ReplyDeleteI have to search for a new printer (again) as my old one does not work with Windows 8. DH bought a printer just for general use but I am leaning to adding an Epsom for my room...just not sure which one. I want to print digis and embellies from pinterest...still researching it.
Love Love Love Love Love. Oh Mary you have coloured and paper pieced this perfectly. It is great how the spots on her dress have lined up so nicely with the flowers Your image is wonderful. That couple just make me smile. Thanks for sharing your glorious work with us. xx
