Memory Box Window Scene

Good afternoon & welcome. Let's welcome some new friends:

Ginny of Maxam Made

and let me add a link for Bobbie L. of Crafts by Bobbie. When I welcomed Bobbie as a follower earlier, I didn't have a link for her blog.

So please take some time and visit these blogs & leave a little love for them, plus enjoy some great inspiration. Thanks to you all, ladies, for visiting my blog and joining as followers.

Yesterday (Saturday) was meant to be a clean the floor kind of day (not that it needed it or anything silly like that!). DH suggested that we take a ride since the day was pretty, and have lunch at Scrapbook Creations, one of the few remaining LSS in our area. I protested - quite feebly as you might guess - that I really meant to clean the floors - but you know, it really was a No-brainer as to which won. Off we go, and upon arrival, happily discovered that some of my old stamp group buddies were having a weekend crop. So it was fun to catch up on what they were doing, had been doing, etc. Then we had lunch and shopped. A fun afternoon; then came home to take a long nap. Shopping can be tiring you know! Had pizza, salad & chicken wings for dinner...so a lazy day as far as anything productive. My kinda day. :-)

So here's the card meant to be shared yesterday.

- Memory Box window die, MB lamp die, MB Hanging Flower pot die

- MBox shelf  die that is sized to fit this window die; raised with dimensional foam.

- Elizabeth Craft sentiment thanks. 4 layers of c/s snippets, colored with copics.

The window view was salvaged from a card sent advertising a retirement seminar by an investment group. DH thought the scene was pretty & said "Why can't you use this for a card?". This got put behind the window frame & has been on the desk since before Christmas. Just had to think of what to do to finish it. Tried the THoltz brick EF as a background - looked at that for a while. Then decided to use a SU Vintage Wallpaper EF; inked the folder with one of the lighter Memento Blues prior to embossing, liked that look better. Now what to add for some interest? Finally decided on the lamp & flower pot hanger.

Lamp was diecut 4 times, (white snippets); glued layers together for some dimension. Colored the base with copics after gluing on a blue pattern dp. Covered the shade with a snippet of DP, added some tiny lace trim.

- Hanger chains cut from kraft snippet that had been inked for another use, but the design was blurry- so couldn't use it for its intended purpose. Covered the 'chains' with gold Wink of Stella. Pot has a 'wire frame', but this was covered when some of the snippet dotty dp was glued to a kraft snippet. This was the base to the wire pot frame. There's 3 layers on this pot.

- added some green fronds (snippet too!) using Impression Obsession DIE112-D - a set of 4 tiny, tiny leaves. Trimmed the fronds from the stem, dipped the tips into a spot of glue, stuck into the pot. Since there was 3 layers of the dotty pot, the tip slid into the space very nicely. Once it felt adhered well, bent the leaves just a bit with tweezers to make the arrangement more realistic.

Since there's a great many snippets in use on this card, I'm off to see if Parsnip will let me into the Snippet Playground. I have been remiss on visiting my playmates there as much as I should like, so I hope I can spend the afternoon making up for not being around as much! I am sure that you have lots of snippets that could be made into a card. That's all you need to gain entrance into the Crafty Snippets Playground, and meet some super lovely card makers. Check out this challenge.

Have a lovely, relaxing afternoon. I'm going to try hard to not succumb to a nap, and go visitin' some inspirational blogs instead. Thanks for your visit. Hugs. Oh yes, Downton Abby finale tonight, folks!

  7. That sounds like a fun outing...and nice to see your stamping buddies!
I never get as much done at a crop cuz I chat and giggle and look at everyone's work and then chat and giggle with them too....but it is a fun way to spend time as there is so much creativity abound.

I need to learn visually since the accident and so I am more likely to retain anything I see demo'd...what better place than to watch your friends create at a crop!

Just got home from sleeping over at the grandkids. My daughter made a fabulous breakfast of waffles and fresh fruit and whopped cream...mmm mmm mmm good! They dropped me off on their way to go tobogganing...the kiddies were so excited! We had about 8 inches of snow fall since yesterday and it is still snowing. What fun!

I have been longing for a window die for quite some time...but when I am at the store to purchaseone, I get sidetracked by all the other beauties MB makes! I don't think there is a die of theirs that I do not love!!!
    Great card Mary.

  11. Hi Mary, thank you for your lovely comment - when l am making a card l firstly decide my image - then stamp it and decide nestie or shape for image - then l choose my papers (and l do have a few lol) then l colour my image to match the paper, then spend ages choosing embellishments and moving it all around - l find it much easier that way. x Susan x

  14. Hubby is so smart to think of your cardmaking and know it would make a great window scene. And, it certainly did. I love that hanging basket. It makes me think of asparagus fern that hasn't done all its growning yet. And, your lamp is so cute. Fabulous creation, Mary!

I can just imagine how little it took to get you away from that floor cleaning and off to a scrapbook store. Ha You're too funny.

Hubby and I got a walk in at the park today....the whole city seemed to be out enjoying the fabulous weather.

  15. Lovely card there Mary and well done on Hubby for issuing the challenge.
Now THAT is the kind of floor cleaning day I could just do with! Though today it has been raining AGAIN so it would not have been that pretty. The shopping and lunch would have been nice and inside!
    Have a great week Mary.
    Hugs

  18. Scrub floors or take a trip to a LSS?! Definitely a no-brainer! I don't know about you, but at my age, a spotless floor no longer makes sense, but a table filled with new supplies makes all the sense in the world :) So glad you had a relaxing day, and we too took a drive to my favorite LSS!! It guess the weather was just perfect for that, as I ran into a fellow stamper at the store who lives just a couple miles from me :) Your window scene is very pretty, and I love the tiny flower basket! I can't wait until I can look out the window and see those pretty dogwoods in bloom IRL! Have a great week!

  23. Well now I'm glad you gave up cleaning the floors and went out instead Momma Mary! How cool that there is a little cafe in the LSS store, loving that and loving even more that your hubby wanted to go. I am loving this window scene card! I think hubby needs to make some cards again too since he has such a keen eye. You've done a fabulous job using your snippets and the window scene that was left over. I just love it!! Makes me think that spring is coming for sure! Hugs!
