Anniversary

Happy Friday afternoon, and hope it's as lovely where you are as 'tis in our Upstate SC area today. Sunshine, blue skies, warm, & a good breeze. I have mentioned that we have a big milestone anniversary coming up this summer, so I wanted to get a special card made, for this very special guy. Worked up a card last night, don't think it's the one I'll use....BUT at least I've got one ready. After I made it, I decided I can do better than this, and need to do a card that some copic coloring on it....
Here's the card:
- gold mirror card embossed with Couture Creations Melody. Sanded it, don't think I really like that effect.

- white cryogen c/s embossed with Cuttlebug  Geometric rings, tiny pearls added to centers

- gold ribbon from stash

- sentiment diecut with S/Binders Opulent Ovals. - clear stamps from a set, inked with Tsukineko Delicata gold.

The sentiment looks like it's on crooked in this picture, but it looks straight on the card. This kind of thing bugs me. I think this and the sanding bit, may be what I don't really like about this one. So it will be back to the drawing board, but at least, I've got something in a pinch. This guy deserves more than just 'in a pinch', after putting up with ME for 50 yrs. Never mind, don't answer that!!! <g>

Here's some more jewels to drool over:
Hooker Emerald: 75.47-carats, cut in a beveled square. Remarkably free from flaws & inclusions for an emerald of its size. Mounted in platinum brooch setting, surrounded by 109 round & 20 baguette diamonds, weighing a total of 13 carats

Tiffany Kunzite: 396.3 carat Kunzite gem from Brazil, South Sea baroque pearls, set in a necklace designed by Paloma Picasso in 1986 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Tiffany & Company.
Ruby Bracelet: 31 antique-cut Burmese rubies (totaling 60 carats) in a highly valued color called pigeon's blood, set in platinum by Harry Winston, 1950. The accompanying 107 diamonds total 27 carats.

I don't know about you, but I'd never heard of Kunzite! Just as info, these gems achieve their colorations by the pressure, heat of the earth, depth and surrounding earth materials in which they form.(I hope I relayed that correctly).  We saw numerous displays of different gems in various stages of formation. These beautiful things look much different in their natural state than after being cut & polished. The individual setting also makes a big difference as to the gem's best display too.

That's my bit for today. Hope you enjoyed the visit, and come back again when you have time. Always love reading comments that are left....have a wonderful afternoon. Hugs

  3. Oh Mary, you are so funny!! I think you both deserve a wonderful anniversary because you both put up with each other!! Aren't we all like that?! lol I know Dwayne deserves more for putting up with me!! lol I am loving this card!!! It doesn't really show that you sanded the gold embossing, so I love it and the white embossed looks so pretty! I think it is an elegant anniversary card my friend! Now I need an email on when your anniversary is!!! Now I had to clean up my computer because I was drooling all over it looking at those gems! Loving the emerald!! Heck loving them all!! I know the gems out of the ground look nothing like they do when they have polished them-it amazes me cause I would think it was just a stone! lol I would never know I had a real life gem! But boy after they are cut and polished and set, well WOW!!! lol Hugs!

  5. hi mary, thanks for popping by! if i weren't motivated to create, i don't know what i'd do, so i have to push myself. :) wow, 50 years is a big milestone and brenda's right - you 'put up with' each other. i think this is a beautiful card for your guy; i can't tell it's been sanded either, but i think the off white and gold are so pretty together. have you tried a square card or an offset centre?
