Memorial Day

Good afternoon & I'm a bit late with the card for today. I want to take this opportunity to say Thank You to all who served our great country in the armed forces - in any capacity - past & present. As the daughter, sister, wife & aunt of many in my family who gave service to this country, I am proud of you. To those currently sacrificing their time and perhaps their lives as well, you & your families deserve the thanks of ALL of us for our freedoms. Here's my card:

The specs:
Image was Our Daily Bread stamp, colored with copics; used a white gel pen on stars and some Spica pens to add a bit of sparkle. Trimmed the shape of the image with the Genesis cutter, sponged some DI Stormy Sky and Antique Paper around the edges. Distressed edges with the tonic tool, then added a bit more Antique Paper around the frayed edges.

Overstamped this image with a Heartfelt Creations Script stamp, using Memento Gray Flannel

Background DSP is a snippet from another project, trimmed to fit, diecut center portion with a rectangle die. It is hard to see in the photo, but there are stars on the paper.

Sentiment was computer generated, used Lucida Handwriting font; diecut with a Sizzix ticket die; airbrushed Copic B0000, and B18 to cover the white cardstock.

Star button from stash - it was white and I colored with red copic markers, twine bow from stash.

Since I have just one little measley snippet on this card, I may not qualify to be admitted to the Playground.   BUT there are some fantastic prizes this week, so even if I may get pushed off the swings, I suggest you drop over and see if you'd like to join in the fun. (Hey even if I can't play, I can still see all the other cards that are submitted, and maybe there's a cool drink or other....hmmm???) Ya never know, you might win one of the prizes.

Thanks for joining me this afternoon, and now I'm off to finish up some planting by our front steps. See ya later, and Happy Memorial Day. Hugs

  1. Love this Mary - and such a fitting post you wrote too.

Of COURSE your lovely card qualifies, just one snippet is fine. If you think about it, folk could even fib and say they'd used snippets - but our little gang are a truthful bunch (if a bit mischievous!). I caught Mrs A donning her rubber swim hat ready to do a few lengths of the duck pond earlier today. We have sunshine here and everyone is going loopy with joy. Trust me, the supermarket was bursting with folk that really ought to be lying on a beach the way some of them were dressed :)

    Hugs, Di xx

  5. This card is fabulous Mary! I don't know what it means to "overstamp" but I know I love how the card looks! I love "Our Daily Bread" stamps although I don't own any. They have beautiful stamps. I just might have to see if I can get this one though. I think this card says it all my friend and like you I am very thankful for our past and present military heros. They are all heros to me and always will be!! Hugs!
